Bugatti has finally sold their last Veyron.

"This final model - number 450 - will be showcased at next week's Geneva Motor Show, alongside the very first Veyron ever built, book-ending a very fast period in the company's history."

Why can't they make more

Mainly because of this?

Ahh I see. I didn't read the first article but, I see now.

I recently came upon an opportunity to invest in a new exotics dealership. They had me at "you can drive anything we have in inventory".

Which generation? The Mk5 GTI is kinda a sweet spot between performance, price and daily usability. Arguably a bit more fun than a WRX too.

The Mk V GTi is fantastic. It's a fun little car to drive, it's better than a WRX if you live on the city, but for the mountain roads, the WRX may have the slight edge in that aspect. I admire both cars though.

And also because Volkswagen is making a loss on everyone they make.

Remember during the 90's when VW offered cheap parts for their cars in order to sell more for the funding of the production of the Veyron.

This is perhaps the funkiest-looking CRX I've ever seen.. thoughts? Which style do you prefer for something like this?

To be honest, I dig the way that thing looks.

Purposeful, mean...very 80's.

Never was really a fan of hood fins though.

It's a bit Mad Max. That's a good thing in my book.

Maybe it's a product of me living in the US, but I don't see near as many fast VW's (almost nonexistent) as I do WRX's. I think the Subaru is a much better platform to build upon for gofast use. I never see VW's used for anything here other than dumb, stanced stuff.

Yet there are plenty of fast fwd Hondas (Civics and CRX's) and (to a lesser extent) Mazdas (Proteges and 3's) being raced around here. But modern VW's seem to be pretty rare. Or when they are raced, they don't seem to be all that competitive.

Yeah no doubt, there are plenty of fast fun fwds around, hondas especially. Just seems there are more folks prepared to spnd money on rwd and 4x4 platforms. Seems reasonable to me, each to their own. I am a fan of rwd, but also a big fan of VW. Would like to see them be more competitive but like you say, thats the way it is.

Dunno. Maybe people in the US dont really see fwd as a viable performance platform?

Got that right :p

Only decent performance FWD we have is the Focus ST

The fact that GTI's in SOLO are in the same class as WRX's and FRS/BRZ's might be one reason you don't see too many of them run. They get sh*t stomped. Hence why I think they're just not that fast. There's a guy locally that run a newer GTI (2012 not sure if that's a MK V or Mk VI), and I don't think I've ever seen him take the usual WRX's or FRS's. He doesn't seem to be a bad driver either. I just chalk it up to being rather slow, fat cars in comparison.

Read in TG Australia that HSV will be in business even after the Commodore goes out of production. We might see a V8 powered Insignia soon.

No one in your country use VW's for family use? Only for stanced stuff? Which I hate as much as you.

I like the rally style used for that CR-X. One of the best Honda's for sure.

Guys, I want to learn more about the car's inner guts, like mechanically/electrically speaking. Do you have anything to recommend me to read/see about this? I may be a car guy, but I'm mostly clueless when it comes to the mechanical bits.

I'm the same way, if you want to learn more about mechanical working of cars, I think the best way to do that is to just read random things online and accept info. from members. If I read a book about it continuously, I wouldn't be able to remember everything.

Use personal experiences, also. I'm starting to get a better clue at it by watching Top Gear, reading Sivispacem's posts, and checking Bimmerpost.com from time to time.

On a side note, has anyone heard of that Audi Prologue Avant? It looks a lot like the Dodge Magnum SRT8, but flatter.

We got that Kia Soul which is fwd. It's alright in the snow, but from common sense, I would expect it to spin if it went hard on its brakes.

For the basic principles of engine mechanics, I found this channel the other day:

By the looks of it he has made a playlist for people with exactly your question:

His videos are simple and very well demonstrated.

253hp won't get an Uno to 186mph; not even close. You'd need somewhere north of 300 at the wheels to achieve that.

With a Drag Coefficient of 0.34, a frontal area of 19.69ft and a weight of 885kg, a Fiat Uno would need 294bhp just to overcome the air drag at 186mph.

Which isn't to say the funny lookin' Uno in the first picture isn't producing that much power, I just find it improbable.

FYI, Kia Soul is front wheel drive, so it is very well possible he meant that.

Sources: me, my dad, and a simple Google search. My father once rented one and told me all about it. This was before we got our Explorer

Well pretty much all of the line up is FWD, but unless he was referring to a Soul his parents own or drove, but the Koup is the only car from Kia that could possibly be worth while to time and modify.

Well the Camorra has money to do what ever they feel like and adding whatever to make a UNO go as close as 300km/h is a "can do" on their list. This not a redneck that decided to build this car in his basement, we are talking about a mafia that wins millions a month.

I also doubt this car can make it to 300km/h but i think it could go close. The answer to the speculation is putting the car in the dyno.
