When we had the car lifted during the inspection we saw that the previous owner had also replaced the stock suspension with Bilstein PSS10s. A pleasant surprise to say the least.

Sounds to me like the owner had more money than what he could do with and just made the car better for the next buyer, that or he didn't think his final product fit his taste. Both scenarios are kind of far fetched but, ya know.

I couldn't imagine a contemporary factory car appreciating, but the numbers don't lie.

I know it's due to taxes, but I bought my Fiesta in 2013 for R$ 39,000.00, and now it's worth R$ 44,000.00 :p

Haha, did he by any chance leave a Rolex in the glovebox and a 12 months XBOX Live subscription in the filler cap?

Is it worth converting a FF car to 4WD/AWD?

For specific track/racing purposes sometimes. Otherwise not really unless you want to do it for funsies.

Alright. Thanks. Any idea on how much it'll cost?

How long is a piece of string? If it's something like a Golf that came in AWD variants, you do all the welding and construction yourself and buy second hand parts from scrapped cars, then I reckon £3k for parts is doable, plus a few hundred hours of your time. Anything more complex than that and costs will increase exponentially. If you can't do the work yourself, ditto. A professional garage or three or four could comfortably do a Haldex swap into a Golf in about 16 hours assuming nothing was stuck and they had all the required parts. But that would be 4 people, at £60 an hour plus VAT each, for 16 hours each. You'd be looking at about £3k in labour absolute minimum, plus another £3k in parts.

Too bad it didn't have the custom, 2 way PSI Raceline Ohlins from the other car. Those would have been in a whole different league from the Bilsteins, and the $7k price tag for them shows it.

Also, I'd much rather have the Klassens on the other car. Forged 19's that only weigh 20-21 lbs. I imagine the stockers are ungodly heavy like all factory BMW wheels.

That is certainly a contributing factor in China and Brasil, but because of the short supply (approx 6,000 worldwide) the 1M sold above MSRP when it came out and is still appreciating in some countries. This is new to me because I honestly thought the 1M was just a regular M car you could pick up from a dealer (like the M3 etc.).

I didn't know it was rare. It's still a car I'd own. I always loved BMW, and after dad bought a E60 550i, I only found myself loving the damn brand more and more.

And what happened with me is that I bought the Fiesta on a time where the car taxes where getting lower. But when 2015 kicked in, they also made the taxes higher and higher. Still, higher reselling value.

So you guys don't think the 1M isn't going to go down in value when the M2 comes out?

Probably not. M2 will probably be a lot more common. Really odd that a car starts appreciating as soon as it came out, but when they do, you usually never see any depreciation after that. If anything, prices might stabilize for a while. It's kind of like comparing E30 M3's to E36 M3's.

Not really. They didn't make many in the first place compared to others in the M lineup. They're almost as rare as the Z8's, but also you have to factor all the 1Ms either wrecked, modified, or turned into race cars.

Ehh I can see a revival and want for the E36 and E90 M3 Sedans.

Best time to buy an E36 is pretty much now, multiple good condition ones going for under £2000 in the UK- RWD, 140HP (on average somewhere around) Weldable diffs makes for a car that is being snapped up by the dozen for cheap drifting potential.

E36s were pretty popular in Brazil back in the day. Hell, that 318 (if I'm not mistaken) Compact one is like a plague. No M3s, tho.

As long as it's not a showroom-quality original rare car, I don't see why not: if people are going to go through the effort of making the engine swap look as tidy as the examples above, more power to them. It makes the world a more interesting place.

Edit: I do wonder how the cooling system works on that Porsche.

Just really stupid. Like those rear-drive, air cooled Mk3 Golfs built on Beetle floorpans. Although it seems pretty well done, one wonders why bother making a FWD 3-series.

Think the Porsche is probably running a front mount rad.

Hello guys, I know there is alot of Bimmer-people here so I want your experties on something.

I am realy excited about buying a BMW for the summer, I have finaly got a new job as a salesman and a higher paycheck so I thought that I should treat me something expensive for the summer!

The BMW's I'm looking at is older versions, such as E32, E34 and E38, but the one I'm mostly into is the E34 540, with the V8 and 285hp

I do have some money saved up, 25.000 or about €2,600, but I think I will manage to save up to €4-5k for the summer!

What BMW would you guys recomend, that is fun to own, for that kind of money? and what do you guys think about Alpina's?

I was thinking that as well after looking at the picture a bit more, weren't we just talking about Civics turned into BMW's in some thread?

Or maybe that was a few years ago, lol.

What Lurch is saying sounds familiar, I do believe someone posted a picture of a Honda with a BMW front end somewhere.

Probably a dumb question but can an impreza wrx be swapped with a 6cyl engine?

Is that kinda pointless actually , like would i better off just getting boost or something ?

What the hell are you talking about?

Seriously though, you can pretty much swap whatever into whatever if you have the ability and resources, but your question is ultra vague, I don't even know if this is an old Impreza or a newer one..

What is your goal, more power?

If so, I'd think you should be able to get plenty out of the WRX motor with a lot less effort than a full swap.

Another factor is what you mean, by 6cyl... Inline 6 or V6? There are some great engines in both formats, but also some really terrible ones.

I think you should stick with what you've got and if you want more power, coax it from the Subaru engine.
