Probably just user error. Morons doing drifts or skids and breaking their alloys when they hit something.

Well they're considered knock-offs for a reason right? They copy all the most popular designs of other manufacturers.

What was wrong with the Rotas anyway?

Also, the fact that they're Rotas.

What's wrong with Rotas?

They have quite the reputation for being a knock-off brand with quality issues. They had a reputation for quality issues, but these are sorted nowadays and they're an OEM manufacturer for some major marques. Don't think I never saw Amy evidence to suggest they were more prone to breaking than other wheels when use was taken into account either.

They still make knock-offs of other designs though. Used quite widely in grassroots racing as they tend to be pretty light and cheap enough to be disposable if they get trashed.

Did not know they're OEMing now. I'm just going off the attitude towards Rotas I've seen in the car scene over here. Generally their reputation is still pretty sh*tty. If you have sh*tty products for long enough, it's going to take a bit of time for people to get over it no matter how many improvements have been made. Case in point, US auto industry.

I like quite a bit of Rotas nowadays for the reasons Sivi mentioned. For anything 5x100 or 5x114.3, they are probably the #1 goto disposable track wheel. Though for anything 4x100, Konig is my preferred lightweight rep wheel maker. Have friends that run Flatouts, Wideopens, Lightnings, etc and will probably be running the new Helix's on the Miata this year). Companies like XXR, STR, and Drag have more or less assumed the previous roll of Rota as the goto sh*tty, heavy rep wheel companies.

Also, from a gofast perspective, wheels are a wear item. I for one, would much rather replace something that costs $100-200 a piece than $1000. And now that the cheaper companies are starting to do flow formed stuff, any performance argument for wheels like TE37's are thrown out the window (though RPF1's did that a while back. Now we have wheels that cost half what an RPF1 cost that weigh the same).

Though for high dollar stuff, I still think custom race wheel companies like CCW, Bogart, Image, Real, Keiser, Weld Racing, etc have their place. The whole any size, any width, any offset, and any bolt pattern thing is certainly nice. $3-4k on a set of a off the shelf wheels though is :v:

I was making the joke that you see on pretty much any auto forum.

Not meant to be taken seriously really.

I like Konig's Rewind, looks like a Minilite or RS Watanabe, but in more sizes.

Anybody here who is on social media could relate to this, but I really hate it when there's a picture of a number of cars and people comment "dat ass" or "DAT R8 THO" like they make it look like they know what they're talking about but, they can't use proper English.

Also, I can't stand Twitter accounts dedicated to pictures of cars. a) They got the pictures off Google, they didn't spot it themselves. b) There's no detail whatsoever, it's always just the name of the car and the color. c) It's the same damn cars! I get tired of seeing a "matte black Rover" or a "light blue R8 :inlove: ". d) Just like all other bullsh*t accounts, they always have to advertise other accounts that have nothing to do with or relate to the topic at hand.

That's just my point of view on the subject, though.

Couldn't agree more. But those are always the most popular accounts, assuming because they post a lot of pictures, it seems the majority of people like quantity over quality when it comes to car pages and such.

That, and they don't know anything about what's under the matte paint (which most of the time isn't even that nice) most of the time.

That's just an internet thing dude, I would have thought you have been around the internet long enough to recognize that.

More like how they neve say the full name of the car, but give it the shortest possible name it could have. IDK just something that bugs me.

I'm fairly sure they're just commenting, not trying to show people that they "know what they're talking about" because they know the name of a car.

It just sounds like you're needlessly getting upset over something absolutely inconsequential.

Don't know if this has already been posted or not but already it has great potential on a truly inside view of the drift scene as it stands today in Japan;

If that was the Mountain from Tokyo Drift then I don't think it'd have the nerve to show itself as a true drift documentary.

I have been to Japan and all mountain roads are exactly like the shown in the video.

I was more referencing the film itself (should've mentioned this) being pretty poor to actually represent people like this, but yeah the road is depicted in this way. Just kindof contradicted what I said but oh well

Nonetheless, it's pretty sick that random people can just head to a spot and talk about their cars and do sh*t. I know one YouTube account that shows this stuff in L.A. but, more street racing and highway pulls. A lot of Supras, S2000's, and Civic's though.

I thought this was a heart warming story. Walking 21 miles every day back and forth to work takes a lot of time. I'm glad he has a sweet ride, now.

I know I'm bad at math so I may be completely wrong but every calculation I come up with(using 5km/h as average walking pace and not taking into account breaks between walking or whatever) says that walking 41 miles(roughly 61km) would take around 10 hours. Let's just consider that he has a 9-5 job, which means he'd have to get up at 4am an walk about 5 hours to work, work for 8 hours, then walk 5 more hours back home. He'd get home at around 10pm every night. That leaves 6 hours of sleep IF he goes to bed then(which is way too little for that amount of excersise), but you can assume that he has other things to do at home(which, let's say takes 1-2 hours). That leaves him with only 4 or 5 hours to sleep before he has to get up again at 4 and walk to work. The situation is extremely impropable as the human body wouldn't be able to effectively run on that little amount of sleep with that huge amount of activity every single day. He'd be nearly dead the first week into that routine. Even worse if his job is longer than 9 to 5 and not much better unless it's several hours shorter than that.

I also didn't watch the video so if it has details about his work or how he managed that schedule I missed it, don't be too hard on dumb old me, haha.

Basically not that many details except for the facts that he has been doing those for a decade and hasn't missed a day of work. The car is nice but, my biggest fear about it is that he can ding it up or something, what insurance will be provided and will the dealership reimburse him or leave him out to dry?

Hopefully all $300,000 went to him.

I mean I sit on my ass from 6am-9:30pm everyday and usually go to bed at around 11:30pm, only to wake up at 5:00am. Sometimes I work weekends too. I think i'm on my way to kicking the buckett too haha. I take public transit btw

I have seen one of those since about last year or so. Why did they add nostrills? It looks so bad. The big chrome RAM on the back looks dumb, but it looks nice when it matches the paint like Ive seen
