I was about to suggest the BBS optional wheels from the Mk4 GTI but that Beetle already has them.

Porsche wheels are too played out these days. Plus they look sh*t unless there's a massive set of 4-pot brakes with 330+mm disks underneath them. Which would be a totally pointless waste of money on a 100hp ragtop beetle. And the wheels themselves are hardly cheap. Plus you need adaptors, plus suspension...

You couldn't run the ABT wheels you posted anyway as they're post-04 VAG offset and PCD. The picture shows them on a new Beetle. You could runs the OZ-made ABT Z5 wheels on a Beetle though.

Ill have to ask her. I probably go for the OZ youy mentioned or Speedlines. I don't first she has to buy the car.

Big wheels on a little car are so incredibly dumb.

The back reminds me of the F-Type Coupe. And yes I thought it was atrocious at first but it grew on me. This car is absolute sexy! Much better looking than the SLS.

I am a big fan of lumpy Mercedes Coupes. That GT is a good looking car, I love the curvy back. Slightly less of a fan of the generic looking benz front end though.

What do you guys think of the new Baby Jag? The XE.

I love it. Best looking midsize sedan. I'd defnitely consider over a 3 series, A4, and a C-class.

The tail lights could look better, but I love how Jaguar's always look so mean and tough. I like a car with attitude.

Let's be honest, it looks WAY better than ANY new BMW.

Really like the XE. Hate the wheels though.

I guess it's okay. The front fascia for some reason reminds me of a Q50S though. And I'm not a big fan of the interior design, the center stack in particular. But it's okay,

I'm not a fan of the XE, like, at all. I find it hard to distinguish from the XF and nothing about it really stands out to me.

The AMG GT, on the other hand, is a glorious looking machine. They've managed to make it look aggressive and menacing without having to stick sharp angles everywhere. It's soft and hard all at the same time.

I was going ot make a new topic, but I think I can get help here:

I'm going to move to the US next year, either in February or August. Since I'm gonna sell my Fiesta, I'd have something like USD14k to spend on a car. I was thinking about buying a Fiesta, just like mine, but I figured out it was time to get something that I dreamt of (since most of these cars are USD60k+ over here).

I was looking on eBay for either an late 80s Camaro or a New Edge Mustang/SVT Cobra. I've found some good (not great, good) ones for USD15k tops (even a cheapo USD3k IROC-Z, that looked amazing, and it wasn't even an auction), and I think that I might just buy one.

But, for the US residents, I ask:

1) What's the best place to look up for prices and, effectively, buy used cars in the US? I don't know how eBay compares to other websites;

2) How hard is to buy a car? I know we, in Brazil, have a lot, a LOT of papework involved and the process can last more than a month;

3) Are there any monthly or yearly taxes that I need to pay on ownership?;

4) Is it hard to find parts and maintain a car that old? (not that I find it old, but hey)

Some suggestions:

1) For values use Kelley Blue Book online

http://www.kbb.com/

Values can be tailored by your location (zipcode). Only goes back 20 years with values though.

2) Its easy. The most important thing to check is a clean title, ie no debt on it, not part owned ect. Generally you just have to register it before you drive. Title, safety/emmisions certificate, insurance.

3) Taxes vary state to state. Most have sales taxes, one time registration fees/titling taxes ect. Some states dont tax for vehicles under a certain value. ie $4000

4) Not really, depends on the car. Helps to know a good local breakers yard or a pick-n-pull.

Also $15k is a pretty decent budget, you should be able to get a decent car for that price. You will easily get a 4th or 5th gen mustang for under 10k leaving a lot over for potential repairs/taxes ect. A late 80s Camaro should be easily found for a few thousand. There are plenty of other options too, C5 Corvette? You might get a C6 Corvette for under 15k too.

Yeah, I'd be getting on that V8 bandwagon. Something like a 4th generation LS1 powered Pontiac Firebird and loads of money in my back pocket to spend on cams and loud exhausts. It's the home of dirt cheap V8s.

I truly want a V8 car so I can scream "'MURICA!," since V8s are awfully costly here in Brazil. :p

@Zyo:

That website pointed that the default price for what they call a "Very Good" '98 Convertible Mustang SVT is something like USD5,800. That's trully unbelievable for me. Seriously, a '98 Coupé V6 is USD30k. Thank you VERY MUCH for that link ;) I was looking at eBay, but I'll study my options on there!

And also, thanks for the answers, I appreciate it!

No worries mate. That KBB site is an awesome resource for used (and new) car values. Like I said, it does vary slightly from State to State so it helps if you know where you are gonna be moving to. Good luck V8 hunting :)

Holy hell, I found an '02 Convertible C5 (ok, it's automatic, but hey) for USD12k. And yes, I'm looking in a 50 mile radius from San Jose, CA.

I need to move up to the States ASAP.

^ Automatic? :barf:

Yeah, I know. The one thing that I love about brazillian cars: even the cheapest is manual :p

But I'm probably going with a '98-'04 Mustang. And yes, manual. :p
