For wheels i would check out some OZ ultraleggera's (black or grey). OEM spoiler looks great imo.

It's 5x114.3 and can fit some decent rubber under its fenders. At that point, is there any reason to put anything else but RPF1's on it? Affordable, look good, light, flow formed, fairly strong, available in more 17" sizes and offsets than you can count. Did I mention they're really f*cking light? Take advantage of the super common bolt pattern and run the goto wheel of all the fast guys.

What's the goto affordable good suspension for those things? Koni Yellow/Ground Control combo?

Realistically, they can be very fast for not too much money invested in aftermarket parts. Basically a Miata with a back seat.

For combined street/track work, Eibach seem to be a good option. Litchfield do a custom Eibach spring/ARB combination that's supposed to be excellent. The OEM dampers are top-spec stuff AFAIK. For coils I'd go KW, but that's mainly because I'm always tempted by their stuff, and for non-adjustable spring/shock I'd probably go Bilstein/Eibach.

Wheels? RPF1's are awesome but in an ideal world it would be something like CE28N's

8422013191_58dba13a98_b.jpg

That said, in keeping with my euro roots, I might be tempted by a set of BBS CH-R's which really suit the GT IMO.

LS2? Naa, cammed LS3. With Jenvey throttle bodies.

My only gripe with CE-28's is that they're literally 3 times the price of RPF1's. At similar weight, it's just not worth it in the grand scheme of money spent to go faster (at least in my eyes). They might be a little stronger (forged vs flow formed cast) but I think they're both strong enough that it's not really a huge issue unless you're on the track a lot (at which point all wheels are wear items). BBS stuff...eh....I like them (I've owned a few sets of them now), but they always seem to be heavier than they need to be (though my RK's I spent $100 on are less than half a pound off of an RPF1 that's the same size).

Anything more than RPF1 money I would probably spend on custom race wheels in whatever size/offset I wanted. CCW's, Real Wheels, Kaiser Billits, Welds, etc. Volks/Rays are just too much for something that's an off the shelf product.

KW's are great stuff. I think there V3 stuff is a bargain for double adjustables. As everything I link will be american sites, let's assume UK prices come out fairly similar.

http://www.fteightysix.com/suspension/35258004-kw-variant-3-coilovers-subaru-brz-scion-fr-s/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwvqWgBRChnMjQ7u7UzOUBEiQAooXvYblbTUbgcSQIIGykS-QjNV5FDwz610cukhvuFxr-0IQaAogz8P8HAQ#.VAl21fldU3A

$2kish for V3's. But stock spring rates are a bit on the soft side (IMO) and I do wonder what spring rates the stock valving could handle if you wanted to go stiffer. SA AST's are probably similar money but would probably have a good enough dampening curve to handle whatever spring rate you wanted without being revalved. I've not really looked into V1's and V2's much, but I'd assume they're probably comparable to PSS9's/PSS10's and probably need a revalve and stiffer springs to really be something great. Maybe the way to go if you find a deal on a used set.

http://deftmotion.com/ast-4150-dampers-set-aluminum-single-adjustable-frs-brz.html

What are the factory dampers on them? I don't tend to pay much attention to factory shocks unless they're Bilsteins, Konis, or another reputable brand that can be rebuilt by local shock builders. The Miata I've been autoXing this year is on non-adjustable revalved factory Mazdaspeed Miata Bilsteins, Ground Control sleeves, and 700/450 lbs/in Eibach Race springs that have done well. Sometimes wish they were adjustable though (custom revalved PSS9's would be boss). Still, they work. I probably wouldn't waste my time on any normal lowering springs with fixed perches though. But that's just me, now that I've seen the benefits of what fine tuning ride height does, threaded perches are a must.

Speaking of Ground Controls, a set of Race valved DA Koni GC's in whatever spring rate I want for similar money to KW V3's would be very tempting. Good bang for your buck at $2500.

http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php?II=925

Only downside to them is since they start from stock Koni Yellows, I'm thinking they're twin tube. I know a guy with a 2 BMW E30 race cars. 1 on DA twin tube Ground Control Konis and one on some fancy monotube DA MCS's and the GC's will get hot and start to fade on longer races whereas the MCS stuff doesn't. Probably a problem most that just run casual track days and drives down mountains and back roads will never run into.

The forged BBS stuff is light but damn expensive. You're probably right in that flow-formed wheels are the best balance between weight, price and hardiness.

Yeah prices are roughly similar. £1,400 for GT86 V3s. I love Clubsports but they're basically unusable on the road they're so firm. Absolutely incredible on a track though.

I don't know what's the original GT86 dampers were but the facelift MY2015 cars come with Sachs dampers. I think the 2015 cars also come with Alcon 4-pots rather than brakes stolen from the WRX STI too. Though that might be an error on my part, could be remembering the Litchfield packs.

If I were going for custom valving and the like in a nonadjustable setup I'd be all over Nitron, like the Lotus guys use.

From that angle, the hood looks like it's about to pop, lol. But that's a good looking honda damn it. The only thing ruining it is the front bumper IMO.

Yeah, I think they could redo that bumper a little bit.

I wonder about the pricing.

The MX-5 looks great to me, the only thing that bothers me is that the headlights are too low.

Also it is no longer a 'happy' car.

yeah that's the first thing I was thinking, as well

always smiling, always wide eyed and bushy tailed.

The car looks nice but it isn't the lovable little Miata look anymore.

To me the headlights look like its off of a Toyota GT86 and the tailights look like Alfa Romeo.

I understand them going for a more aggressive look to get out of the "girly" 2-seater genre.

Which kinda makes sense, since there were rumours of a partnership between Mazda and Alfa Romeo.

And I like the first gen the most, since it's the least "cute".

The essence of an Alfa and the perfect 2-seater recipe from Mazda, it makes sense.

just noticed this little gem thanks to a buddy of mine back in St Louis.

this is as real as it gets.

http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/4625185925.html

"It's basically their take on a Land Cruiser but much less likely to break down because it's Japanese."

This is gold.

Maybe Pyrite.

They're both Japanese aren't they?

Landcruiser = Toyota.

I assume he meant Land Rover.

But once you turn the headlights on, that all just disappears.

Super cute!

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the VÜHL 05.

Vuhl-05_2015_800x600_wallpaper_04.jpg

Vuhl-05_2015_800x600_wallpaper_0c.jpg

It's basically the first ever Mexican lightweight track car. Power comes from a 2-litre version of Ford's award-winning DOHC turbocharged EcoBoost engine, the output of which is 285bhp and 420Nm of torque, giving a power to weight ratio of 400bhp per tonne. This results in a 0-100kph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 245kph. The engine drives through a six-speed manual gearbox. Steering is by a high ratio rack and pinion system.

Orders are being taken for delivery beginning in the spring of 2014. Pricing will start from c.£55,000 (plus tax, plus shipping). There is a wide range of performance options available to allow the VUHL 05 to be upgraded to personal taste.

Thoughts?

My GF just passed her Driving test so she has her licence. Her parents are going to buy her a used car and she likes the VW Beetle. She told me she let me modify the car as long as i don't spend a lot of money on it.

The VW Beetle she can afford is basicaly something like this (She want's it convertible so yes, more hard to find one that's in ok shape and good price)

I am planin on taking of those horrible MK4 Golf rims and replacing them with those Porsche Rims:

http://www.milanuncios.com/llantas-de-aleacion/llantas-porche-turbo-5x130-en-18pulgadas-137145542.htm

I would love to put ABT rims on it but of course, they are quite expensive:

ABT-Beetle-TDI-03.jpg

Something like this would look nice (Except for that horrible exhaust). What do you think?

I was about to suggest the BBS optional wheels from the Mk4 GTI but that Beetle already has them.

Porsche wheels are too played out these days. Plus they look sh*t unless there's a massive set of 4-pot brakes with 330+mm disks underneath them. Which would be a totally pointless waste of money on a 100hp ragtop beetle. And the wheels themselves are hardly cheap. Plus you need adaptors, plus suspension...

You couldn't run the ABT wheels you posted anyway as they're post-04 VAG offset and PCD. The picture shows them on a new Beetle. You could runs the OZ-made ABT Z5 wheels on a Beetle though.
