:) yeah i did wonder about that. I'm looking at the earlier one. Under 5k seems to get a good one these days. The facelift of the AP2 looks nice, but when it comes down to it, the AP1 is more fun and more value.

edit:

Oil starvation, thats a worry. Need to look into that a bit more.

S2000s are very, very tyre sensitive. Can make all the difference between then being a lovely drive and incredibly twitchy.

That's probably a good rule for any small sports car though. The 200 whp Miata I regularly drive on sticky RS-R's is less twitchy than a 110 whp non-turbo on HTRZ II's.

I know a lot of people are fitting 17x10's with 255's square on those cars. Lots of room for big meat.

My friend and neighbour just bought a 98' BMW 523, dark blue...i think the color was biarritz blue or something, manual. Quite basic but very quiet and in excellent conditon. Got it for only 2k euro.

That got me thinking. They've been making 5 Series BMW's now for 42 years. I kind of wonder where that falls as far as continuously used automobile names go?

Quite a few American cars that have used the same names for decades. The Suburban springs to mind. A lot get revived though. Continuous use is the interesting part of the question,.

Yeah the Suburban has been using the same name since 1934. Which is the longest in the world. And the 911 has to be up there as well. Same with the Impala because i'm pretty sure that has been continuous since the 60s. I could be wrong though.

The Impala started out as a trim level of the Bel-Air in '58, then became it's own model in '59.

I'm pretty sure they killed off (or at least re-branded) the Impala for a few years here and there, so I guess you can't really count it since they killed the continuity.

Yeah I wasn't sure if they had broken the continuity or not. Thats why I wasn't 100% sure on it

The longest continuous model I can think of right now is the Corvette. It has been around since 1953. It's never been out of production, although there is no 1983 model. Chevrolet had production quality issues that delayed the release of 1983 models. So instead of only having 1983 models for a couple months, Chevy decided to just make them 1984 instead.

The longest continuous nameplate is the Suburban, with it being since 1934. Another one is the Ford F series, being in production since 1948. The Chrysler Town and Country could have been in second place, but it took 2 years off in between 1988 and 1990, which was the time it became a minivan instead of a station wagon.(started production in 1941)

VW Beetle name has been used continuously since 1938. 1934 if you count inception to now rather than first release.

my grandfather swears by the old beetle cars, he reckons it was the most reliable car he's ever driven.

So I heard supercar drivers are a major annoyance in London. Is this true?

Which idiot was in the wrong? Mazda driver for not yielding or Lambo driver for speeding?

It's probably going to be split liability, especially with the footage. The Mazda pulled out in what would have been plenty of time had the Lamborghini been travelling the speed limit rather than about 50.

I think the Mazda is pulling out way too slow regardless, I imagine even at 30 the Lamborghini would have at least had to brake to avoid a collision.

That said, I still agree it's a split liability, I don't think anyone can expect to pull out safely on such a congested road if people are driving so fast.

@Moth: How about this?

Yeah, the Lamborghini driver was obviously not in the wrong.

But was he even speeding though? What would be the expected speed on a road like that? I'm not too knowledgeable of British traffic laws. But from the brief second we have in the video (probably after breaking for a little bit) it doesn't seem like he was going unacceptably fast. It would be an interesting argument in court if this got to that.

F*ck yeah he was going too fast.

I've never seen a car going any kind of safe speed for city driving catch air after hitting something.

What if it hit a ramp? Didn't think of that, did you?

If it hit a ramp at a safe speed it would probably get stuck on the top of the ramp.

Oh wait, you're joking...bastard.

I want to drive a ramp around town.
