Well the Seat Leon I got just over a month ago has been a lot of trouble. The timing belt needs to be changed, brakes were changed 3 weeks ago, the engine makes horrible whining sounds when starting up and it loses a lot of engine coolant. I have only driven around a thousand km with it so far.

How many kilometers does the vehicle have? Diesel or gasoline?

So I didn't have work today so I went to stay with my girlfriend in Taipei but while she was at work today I was bored off my face so I decided to go get my flat tire checked. I took it to Porsche and discovered I had a nail stuck in and so they fixed it up for me. Had a couple hours to kill before my girlfriend got off work so I hit up all the showrooms in that area, went to McLaren, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and Harley Davidson. I also stopped outside Ferrari but the sales people looked like proper unwelcoming douches so I decided not to go in. Out of all of them McLaren and Lamborghini were the most accommodating and Lamborghini called me after I left to invite me for a test drive tomorrow. Needless to say I accepted. The 3 Gallardos they had in the showroom are the last 3 brand new Gallardos in Taiwan as they're getting ready for the Cabrera next year. I was told the waiting list is already at 1.5 years for a Cabrera and that they'll be getting their first showroom model in Q4 of next year.

So after work yesterday, we cut the front end off of my friend's S14. Should be a proper monster when it's done.

It's already a drift car. Note the VQ35 (from a 350z. No S-chassis ever had a factory V6 afterall), GKtech billet 65 degree steering knuckles/40 mm drop spindles, and sticky Federal 595 RS-R tires.

The car was originally built for street class. It took a couple of big hits, ending up in a bent rad support. After that it was decided to go full pro-am with it. The front's getting tubed out, getting bash bars up front, and it's getting a tube bumper in the rear as well. All things to make it more tandem friendly for competitions. Also getting remote oil and ps coolers.

Few examples of pro-am style tube fronts.

Nice, an all tube front is much more crash/bump resistant. How many horses does the engine produce? Dont even know much about the pro class limits on the engine performance. Drifting is quite a new thing in Estonia. I still havent had time to see the local drift cup events. Have to wait till next year.

Also how are you going to make the back end? Just cut away the lower steel part and weld the tubes onto the body or how?

Well a stock 350z makes 287 hp. With the tune, intake, exhaust, etc, this one is probably making right around 300 at the crank. Maybe 260-270 at the wheels. It's enough for the local events here. A real formula drift car makes well over 500.Next year, he wants to add a Vortech and some R35 injectors and get close to that. Should be good for 450 whp then.

Classes have kind of fallen apart here. The only body around here that did street class and pro-am has lost a lot of popularity. So now, pretty much everyone is running a "run what you brung" type of deal pitting everyone against everyone. So you might as well make your car as competitive as possible. That tube front not only makes the car a bit less resistant to bumps, but should also stiffen up the front end some.

I've got one friend who's S14 was wrecked and he just went all out with his tube front. He went from the firewall forward and built his own shock towers, which wouldn't be pro-am legal, but it doesn't really matter now when there's no real classes. It's a wild car as well.

Had to replace the oil filter adapter o-rings in my Cherokee today. Really annoying location for the bolt, it's right up against the frame rail. I had to remove the motor mount bolt and jack the motor up a bit just to get it out the last 1/4 inch or so. But hopefully it won't be marking it's territory anymore, lol.

I want to trade my Porsche in for an LP560-4. Goddamnit.

I've got my eye on a 50th anniversary 2013 LP560-4 in Blue Cepheus with stitching to match. Comes out to about 16,000,000NTD which is just over USD500,000. Colour option was USD16,000 by itself. Question is, should I wait until the Cabrera is out so the price on used LP560s drop? Half a mil is quite a hefty sum for a car. Aventador is definitely out of the question as it's about 1 mil USD here for a brand new one which is just ridiculous. After testing the LP560, my 997 feels like a f*cking Toyota. How much will prices drop on used LP560s once the Cabrera is out?

There's a hundred things I'd get for half a mil before a Gallardo.

Unless you're doing it for 6 months of street cred there is no point in buying new. If you really like the car, I'd wait it out until depreciation has taken a big bite out of the price.

It might be worth taking an existing slightly older Gallardo out for a test drive if the dealer sells used cars too, to see if you'd be happy with that.

Problem is those things cost a mil or 2 mil in this part of the world.

@epoxi: Nah, i don't need more street cred. I'm already the pimpest motherf*cker this side of my village. :p I spoke to their GM on the phone yesterday and he said he could knock off USD60,000 on their test drive car which is 2 months old with 2,000km on the clock. Thing is, I don't really want to have a car which has most likely been overreved like crazy. They don't currently have anything in stock on the pre-owned front but that's likely to change as soon as the Cabreras start getting in. I told the guy I'm willing to wait so he'll let me know whenever they get some pre-owned stock in.

EDIT: Lamborghini Taiwan meets every Saturday. It's quite appealing to me to be honest, I'm not just buying a car, I'm buying into an exclusive club.

The dimensions of the Gallardo seem immensely more practical than the Aventador.

I don't know how roads are overall in China, but from what I've seen the Gallardo even seems like a potential daily driver.

It's Taiwan actually and the roads are pretty good. Not much to complain about. Roads in China, on the other hand, are absolutely dreadful. One of the things I spoke to Lambo about was that I wanted to be able to daily drive the car if I got it and they said it should be fine as long as I bring it in for servicing every 5000km. That would mean I'd have to bring it in 3 to 4 times a year going by my current rate.

Say it's possible to pick up a Haynes manual for a Gallardo and service it yourself? :p

The automated clutch geabox on the Gallardo is a pain to dd. I don‘t get why they didnt put the double clutch from the R8+ in it. Oh wait... : >

Signature soon.

  • 2 weeks later...

Judging by the trend, the next Lamborghini is just going to be an actual fighter jet.

Remember the Lotus Esprit prototype that was doing the rounds a couple of years ago?

Looks rather like that. Which is a good thing IMO.

Would I be wrong in thinking the AE86 totally looks like it was based on the Triumph TR7 Coupe concept?

Wouldn't be the first time the Japanese basically copied and idea from a British manufacturer and made something far better. MX-5 being the most famous example.

I'm going to go and say that it's just a coincidence. Remember there are 3 other AE86 models. Tureno Coupe, Levin Hatchback, and Levin Coupe.

I was driving home from lunch when I passed an autoshop with an SLS, Conti Flying Spur, numerous AMG and M models, and two 993s and a 964. I flipped a bitch and went to check out the 993 and 964 (which as it happens belongs to the owner and is not for sale). Got to talking and found out the owner knows my dad and I ended up ordering a set of 19" Works Brombachers in matte black for my 997. I'll also be taking my ducktail to get painted and fitted there as well. Rims should take about 45 days to arrive and I'm planning on getting my calipers painted red and then having a red stripe on the lip of the rims to match with the calipers. Not a thick stripe mind you, but a subtle one. I'm going back tomorrow morning to pay the deposit and I have until then to get feedback from you guys.

http://www.workwheelsusa.com/product.php?category=38&wheel=104

EDIT: btw, it's not the reverse rim but the step rim one. let me know what you guys think.

EDIT 2: Goddamnit, I've been looking at HRE again and I really want the FF01 instead.

I've dawdled for too long. I am ordering one or the other before the week is done.

This wheel here

CCW C2K in a 19x9 +53 front and a 19x12 +68 rear

With these tires.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Super+Sport&frontTire=435YR9PSSXL&rearTire=23YR9PSSXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Michellin Pilot Super Sports in a 245/35ZR19 front and a 325/30ZR19 rear.

Can be bundled with the wheels and most importantly, it should all fit and bolt up. And you can have the CCW's painted up however you want.
