I don't know about that. lol.gif It's a real piece of junk, 280 000 miles, some small rust spots and a dented right rear door. But I got it as a trade in at work, I just couldn't pass it up. Cost me a whopping 7000 SEK (~$1050, ~810 Euros, ~£650). Passes inspection, tax-exempt (older than 30 years), runs and drives. Don't know what I'm going to do with it, but hey, a cheap car is a cheap car.

Well, it's an 82, so it's tax free biggrin.gif

It could rust in half or burn to the ground and it would still be miles better than any of those kia things you're driving.

Looking for some cheap ass rims, cause the ones I have are boring as crap.

Criteria:

*Cheap

*Nice

For summer I've got some generic and unoriginal 5-spokes. - those are the ones I really need to replace

I'm looking for some Aero (US: SPG) ones:

The winter ones look just like the bottlecaps I had on my e28.

Which I still think are ugly as sin.

So it rained today. Was at red lights and this happened:

Freakin bendy bus skidded and rear-ended me and pushed my car onto a landrover that was in front of me. The guy in the landrover didnt notice and drove off. So now the bonnet needs re-aligning since the gaps are not equal on each side. I'm surprised how I only have scratches and dents on the rear, whilst the bus has so much damage done. Either way. FUUUU

The bus was running on these tyres: http://i.imgur.com/VOCsu.jpg No wonder it couldnt come to a stop.

So lately I've been driving a Volvo V60 rental to get me to meetings outside of London. I've started to really like it, as a daily driver I think it's great and I think it looks good. Anyway, no point to this post. Just wanted to share how much I like the V60. cookie.gif

EDIT: I'm looking for some help and info on buying a car on credit. More specifically this offer here.

From experience are there any hidden charges to something like this? Also, is it possible for me to break the lease (say I had to move abroad for an extended period of time for work)? What if after a few months of paying my monthly payments I just decide the buy the car outright?

Any answers would be appreciated as I've never bought a car like this before. Thanks

Most of the time, leases cannot be broken. Even if you bring the car back, the dealer will still want all the money that you agreed to pay them. Sometimes the dealer will let you transfer the lease to somebody else, but only if they approve the person's credit.

But it all depends on what's in the contract. The only way to know is to read the fine print.

Thanks carlover, would dealers accept it if I changed my mind about the monthly payments halfway through and wanted to just pay off the rest of the car in one payment?

I know that on the cars I sell that's no problem. We have a seperate company (that itself is a part of a bank) that handles leasing and payments and all the customer (you) have to do is give them a ring and they help you pay off the car. Wham-bam-no extra charge. I think it varies between the companies though. wink.gif

What do you guys think about me doing something like this to the Burb?

I know Lurch would love the possibility of me taking the body lift out.

Would go with the rest of your Cadillac them well enough. Body cladding-wise, there's going to be some piece that doesn't fit from escalade/denali to the suburban though, right?

Correct. The rear fender flares would need to be molded together where they were split at the door, and I would need an extra set of front door molding to fill in the back of the rear door molding. The far rear molding behind the wheels would need to be lengthened. That could be done by using an extra set of that molding to fill in with, or it might be easier to just fill the gap with fiberglass.

Like so:

All GMT 400 Escaldes and Denallis were short wheelbase and short rear overhang (prettied up tahoes/yukons). There was no suburban equivalent til GMT 800.

I would have rather spent the money on a full interior out of a newer Cadillac then worked on getting a real lift to go with or in place of the body lift.

There was no Denali XL in that body from which you could source parts?

Sadly, no. As Lurch said, that wasn't until the GMT 800 platform.

I would have rather spent the money on a full interior out of a newer Cadillac then worked on getting a real lift to go with or in place of the body lift.

I've already got 90% of the 2000 Escalade interior, with an 03-06 console, and 06 Platinum edition steering wheel once I get the column back together. Plus this isn't all that expensive. Molding is $6-10 for each piece depending on size at my scrapyard (and they'll usually give me a break if I'm buying a bunch of sh*t at once), or $2/ft at some other nearby scrapyards. So that's $100-200 for all of molding, then a couple hundred for the front clip.

As stated, I may take the body lift out. I'll have to see how it looks with all the Escalade trim first though.

I'm not going all out on this as a 4x4. That will be saved for when I buy a pick up.

Picked this up yesterday to replace a piece of sh*t fiesta I've been rolling around in for the last few months,

I sold it last year to do some travelling then had no car for around 8 months then a £327 fiesta to get me moving again and now this. This is so cheap to run I'm hoping to run a miata or a motorbike alongside it in the spring.

A pre-owned luxury car dealership just opened up in my area, and DAMN they sell some awesome cars cheap. They got a 2008 Mercedes S550 is great looking condition for only $37,000. Our 2012 Maxima is $40,000.

Crazy, lol.

This beauty right here.

Must got a lot of mileage or something. Interior a little looks dated, but that's cool with me.

Oh and only 77,000miles actually.

Sorry but that isn't particularly cheap, or at least isn't comparatively. Round here, an 06 A8 4.2 V8 or even a similar age 760i can be had for under £14k.

I wouldn't consider a Maxima to be a luxury car. They've got the Infiniti marque for that. Besides the S Class would be considered in certain countries to be standard, anything less and it wouldn't be considered a luxury car. Comfortable sure, but not luxury.

Welcome to the real world where luxury cars are only luxury for 2 years.

The S-Class range is one of the best (or worst I guess) examples of depreciation. An S65 costs $209,000 but after one year it is only worth $63,000.

It's ironic that the worst investment, i.e. blowing money on brand new luxury cars, is fashionable amongst businessmen...whose profession it is to make the best investments.
