Talk about one overpriced piece of junk. Maybe if it was $500ish. Not for 2 grand though.

 

And gen 4 eclipses look like even porkier versions of the gen 2's. And just as ugly, if not uglier.

 

Also, S14's look pretty good, at least in Kouki form. Zinki's not as much.

That would still be 1k for a Cavalier. And not even listed which trim, engine, or trans it is.

 

Think of all the better cars you could get for a grand.

In my area, not much. Anything that's a grand is either rusted, about to die, dead, or absolute crap as a vehicle.

What kind of regulations, and which state(s) are you talking about?

The $200 one is obviously mine. It didn't take anything to really make it driveable. It needed a few tires (they were 26 a piece for the 15's back then). I obviously have a bit more in the 16's and the 225's. Even with the exhaust ($200), forged wheels ($200), and 225/50R16's (30 a piece x 4), a fender ($35) I've only really got $750ish in the car, not including maintance stuff. With that, probably a grand even.

The ETA was my friends. He basically just bought it, drove it, and sold it for $1200. Might have fixed a few very minor things.

 

The 318 is another friends. He bought a parts car to replace a few things on his car (mainly for leather sports and some weaves) for $800 on top of it that we figure we can get another $400+ out of selling and parting out. It still ran and drove fine when he first got it though.

 

The Galaxy has some money in the engine now. Plus it needed new brakes, brake lines, fuel lines, fuel pump, tank, etc when he got it. Has some money in the exhaust. the white walls were $20 a piece mounted and balanced.

 

The jeep has thousands in it now. It's original purchase price was under a grand. But that was with the smogged 304, 3 speed, open diffs, sh*tty amc 20 rear, off brand 31's, etc. None of the nice stuff in it now was on it. Add up the price of parts to be a competent off road vehicle (has a more powerful engine, lower geared stronger 4 speed trans with a pricey adapter, lockers front and rear, better lower geared axles, warn 8274 winch, 35" bighorn, 15x8 daytonas, 2.5" lift, 1" HD shackles, etc. Thousands and thousands there.

Leik ohm geez would probably call that one a step back because the body's all cut up and stuff but it certainly does its original intended task (wheeling) more than his 3/4 ton truck (towing).

I like the Second gen quite a bit, don't know why, 3 and 4...not so much. Won't lie Gen one Ecplise/Laser/Talons are by far still the best looking allot better than the Second gen even. To Each their own I guess.

 

Also much like Burbalade I need to go change my pants.

While I do think they're ugly, 2nd gens are decent enough cars, at least in GSX form. I won't knock them there. GS-T's are kind of torque steer monsters though.

As a former owner of a first gen GSX, it is by far the car I most regret getting rid of. Other than it's highway noise from being a short-geared 5 speed and just awful gas mileage, it was a very fun comfy daily driver.

Okay, as a note, I don't really know much of the names in english but hopefully someone understands... smile.gif

 

So I got a '93 Mazda 323 sedan with 1.6 liter & manual transmission, and I'm about to sell it. But, I want to know is the engine still fine, I'm not really sure of the symptoms of a engine which only runs with 3 sylinders out of 4, bu the case seems like it. How can I be sure about it, and what kind of fixes/checks you'd recommend to try?

 

The car feels like it's always on too high gear and it has this wierd sound in it, kind of click clacking.

If it's running on three cylinders you'd know. You'd feel it physically shaking thanks to the uneven detonation forces, and it would feel very broken. Clicking sounds often come from wheel bearings or differentials when they are on their last legs.

Just a quick question, since losing my job and having my car wrote off my mums put me on her insurance on her Ford Ka, it's low mileage and on a 2006 plate so it was running like a brand new car. A few weeks back i noticed that when going into gear and letting go of the clutch there's like a delay before the car starts moving, it's tricky to describe but it's as though the car has stalled and then just revvs back into life, it's going in for it's service soon and the fella who does our cars is a sound guy but i'd like to have an idea of what's wrong with it before we take it in.

 

I know bollocks all about engines and stuff, would it be spark plug related or are they just for igniting the engine? i just don't have a clue

Is it in first only, or in every gear? If you floor it in gear, do the revs rise then drop back down? It might be a clutch on it's last legs, especially if it's a low-mileage 6-year-old car which has spent most if its life in city driving.

While I do think they're ugly, 2nd gens are decent enough cars, at least in GSX form. I won't knock them there. GS-T's are kind of torque steer monsters though.

Cousin of mine owns a Second Gen GSX, fun little car, she's had it forever, and I've tried geting it off of her several times...no dice. It's a rust Orange color too, looks like it'd be at home in the 70's.

First only mate, it's sound when i'm going through the gears, i do what i'd usually do to go from neutral to first, release the clutch completely after i feel the bite but as i press the accelarator the engine goes quiet, the car sorta shudders like it's gonna stall, and then the engine bursts back into life and is then fine. It doesn't happen all the time though just at random it seems

Could be a worn synchro. Similar symptoms, but only affecting one gear. Also, a much bigger pain in the arse than a clutch.

My grandfather had one that he loved and pampered, but I never saw him drive it. He always complained about gas prices and the fuel guzzling it does. But if you're willing to pop on it, nothing beats a Caddy. cool.gif

yeah I f*cking hate those LED headlights. Sometimes they glint blue in the mirror and look exactly like cop lights.

Mileage isn't bad. 24 mpg or so on the highway.

I just found a fully loaded 97 for $1500. I about jizzed my pants when I saw the White Diamond paint, sunroof, and perforated leather seats under that price tag.

Caddy's are set up to cruise. I wouldn't worry about gas mileage (at least highway mileage). Cons, pre-Northstars are boring and somewhat slow. Northstars are fast but are expensive to work on.
