Xbox 360:

We are aware of the issue where new players cannot log in past the title screen. This is a high priority issue and we have pulled in our best programmers to get everything working as quickly as possible.

Service Status

•Online Play – Offline

•DLC Purchasing – Online

•Pre-Order Code Redemption - Online

•Pre-Order Casino Code Redemption -Online

•Getting pre-order cars and Casino in-game - Some users are reporting that their cars don't show up in the Used Car Dealer after the code is redeemed. If this affects you, try playing the game in Offline Mode to see if the cars show up.

•Casino Access - Online with intermittent outages.

•MyTDU2Life - Offline - This is working as designed. TDU2MyLife is dependent on the Club Server.

•Clubs - Offline to fix an exploit

Issues Being Investigated:

•Cannot Join Friends - This is related to the online service interruptions listed above.

•Lancia with Purple Wheels - We have posted a thread in the general forums asking for more information on this.

•Friends Filter on map does not show friends - This has been confirmed and escalated.

•Lost Money in Casino During Outages - We are tracking this issue. Unfortunately at this time there is no method of restoring money lost in this matter. Stay tuned for updates.

•No Accessory Controls (Xbox Wheel) - Xbox wheel users report that they cannot control the accessories using the D-Pad. This will be looked into.

•Corrupt Save Files? - This is a known issue. This error message may come up erroneously. If this occurs, exit to the Xbox Dashboard immediately without clicking "Delete" or "Retry." - we're working on a long term fix.

PS3:

Hey Everyone,

Update on the PS3 issues.

We believe to have identified the cause of the issue, and have some additional information.

It seems that there is an issue affecting US PS3 players only. From our records, it shows that EU customers are able to connect without any trouble.

For the US players, the problem appears to be a connection issue where some information is not reaching the correct server. Our teams have a potential fix for this and are currently working on deploying it. We should have an update on this issue in the next couple of hours.

Hey Everyone,

I've recreated the PS3 open issues thread to ensure that all reports are current. I need to do this to filter out reports of issues that were resolved within the past few hours. Sorry if you reported an issue that did not see a response. Please re-report it in this thread and it will be added to the list of items we are tracking. Thanks!

Service Status•Online Play – Online! Please Verify!

•DLC Purchasing – Online

•Pre-Order Code Redemption - Online (US) / Offline (EU)

•Pre-Order Casino Code Redemption - Online (US) / Offline (EU)

•Getting pre-order cars and Casino in-game - Some users are reporting that their cars don't show up in the Used Car Dealer after the code is redeemed. If this affects you, try playing the game in Offline Mode to see if the cars show up.

•Casino Access - Online

•Clubs - Offline to fix an exploit, the fix is in QA now!

Issues Being Investigated

•Slow Download Speeds - Some PS3 users are reporting slow download speeds. We are looking into the situation to see if it is something on our end that we can resolve.

•Inconsistent DLC items from other platforms - Users have reported that the PS3 store has products that are not available on other platforms. They provided an image and I have escalated this accordingly.

•Limited to one profile? - Users have reported that even if they have multiple profiles available on their PS3, that it's not possible to create a new save file for TDU2.

•Crashing - Users running the EU version have reported crash issues. Please wait for the EU patch to go live, and report back if the issue persists.

•No Radio? - Will address after major issues are ironed out.

PC:

We are seeing intermittent connectivity issues with the PC platform. These issues are being looked into. More info to come once we iron out the core issues we are currently working on.

Issues Being Investigated:•Manual Unavailable - Some users have reported that the PC install did not come with a PC manual. We're working on a solution for customers affected by this issue.

•Changing your account password locks out your profile - This has been escalated for investigation.

•Can't take off sunglasses? -Some users are reporting that they can't remove certain clothing items. If this affects you please post here.

•Disappearing friends list? - This is an intermittent issue with the server. Sometimes the friends service will go down briefly, but your friends are not lost.

•Wheel control issues? - Wheel control issues will be tackled once the major service items are smoothed out.

•Non-Functioning Car in Used Car Dealer - There is a Lancia-looking car with purple wheels in the Used Car dealer (purple wheels). Do not purchase it, it may negatively affect your game. We are working on getting this fixed ASAP.

Resolved Issues:•Some users did not receive a GT500 bonus code - Should be able to claim your bonus here using your SECUROM code: www.testdriveunlimited2.com/redeem.

•Wrong car image for Ferrari GTB China Ed. - This is fixed now. The correct car image now appears.

•Amazon not listed at /redeem - This should be resolved now.

•The build title contains "QA" and "Review" - Known issue. Future versions should no longer contain the inaccurate label of "QA," but as expected the disc name will remain the same for the near future as they have already been printed.

•Version Discrepencies - This is working as designed for the moment. Depending on where and how you get the game, you will be provided with a different version number. While the version numbers differ, the game is identical. Future patches should bring all games to a unified version number.

O dear not looking good they have completly turned off online mode off on Xbox now! If your lucky enough to have signed in when the server was up then you can continue to play when the server goes offline, But if you exit game then you wont be able to reconnect.

Long story short, this game should have been pushed back to a later date. These problems cartainly aren't ones that should be dealt with post-release.

So I guess the question is what the hell was the point of the lengthy Beta test? If the game has turned out like this with hundreds of beta testers imagine if they hadn't done it at all!

well the xbox version is back online, The Beta testing was done on PC they were obviously to busy just uploading videos of gameplay to youtube then actually subbmitting Bug reports!

Looks like they are sorting out problems though, I can actually have my friend join me and burn about now bu i cant join his game still!

Actually in the beta forums, there was hundreds of complaints about the physics and other things like wipers/indicators and network issues.

ahh Right well i think the PC version is pretty stable the problem is that PS3 server doesnt communicate properly with the TDU server, And last night they said the Xbox Problem was more complex than first thought, and they got a team of specials in, Im thinking this may be the Official Xbox team?

On another note ive been having alot of fun with it had a couple of times burning about with friends. I find the handling much more realistic even on the easy setting. My friend who plays without any Aids says the Timetrial modes become very hard using those settings quite early on though.

Buy it a year from now or something, when they get all the bugs and sh*t ironed out, hopefully. Right now the tdu2 forums is a mess.

As for the physics.. yikes. Let's just say I'll stick with this game.

Okay guys how much more arcadey/sim is TDU2 in comparison to TDU? I'm thinking of getting the game but I need to know that it is not yet another arcade racer.

Much more arcadey, think of nfs but with the car jerking from left to right.

Well at the moment in my opionion i dont find it a bad game I enjoyed the first one alot and this one only adds new features and is still just as enjoyable. Handling isnt as bad as what people make out I dont know wether it is that they are using keyboard or the steering wheel, but using my controller its fine. xbox Wheel option has about 8 individual options in settings so you can fine tune it. Obviously with people moaning about the handling in the first one they have made it more realistic, so if you dont go into corners at the right speed or try to power out to early in rear wheel drive cars then you will start spinning or sliding off the track.

New offroad races are a nice breath of fresh air to the series there almost like drift events now. The trouble is the technical issues at the moment of not being able to join friends online its pretty intermitent at the moment, the same goes for the server if your sighned in on xboxlive and the TDU server is down then you wont be able to get into the game. But you can unplug and go offline with no problems. There is also complaints that save games are corrupting but after about 18 hours of playing and being careful where and when i quit out i havent had that issue touch wood (the first TDU had this trouble now and again but mostly on PC). Also the club server is down at the moment witch also takes your MYTDUfrofile off.

In conclusion alot of the bad things you are hearing is probably disgruntled customers at the moment they really should have sorted this out before release. I personally still brought the game knowing of all the issues that i have spoke about, The only thing that worried me was the handling thing but after playing for a while i dont really know what all the fuss is about. My advice is if your thinking of getting it like some of my other friends dont rush out! maybe wait till next week if you dont want all of the release issues that have come up.

all in all i find it to be a good game so far so its only going to get better when they sort out all the problems.

Using the keyboard here and I haven't run into anything major with controlling the cars. About the only thing I will criticise control wise is that some of the cars are a tad bit too "twitchy" it seems to be mainly high performance cars where you have to watch things and you can spin incredibly easily. I would say they need to take it down a notch or two on the high performance cars to make the game better but we will see what happens.

What is pissing me off though is that if you have an online profile then you can't f*cking play this game if the servers are down, even if all you want to do is play the single player races. Surely in this day and age it isn't hard to go "hey online servers are down but knock yourself out in single player till they are back up".

Yeah that is kinda sh*t, tdu1 has the same case.

Didn't they say they were supposed to stick online-offline together? so like when the servers are down people with online profiles could still play, so they won't have to start over a new offline profile.

Another day another dollar trying to get on the f*cking servers, seriously get this sh*t sorted Atari. It is such a shame the game has been released in this state they could have had something really special on their hands. Instead it is being mired and ruined by all these technical issues.

Anyway I managed to get on the servers today and took a pic of my very "special" jacket :-

If you were one of the beta testers and you tested the game during a certain period you get this special jacket. The only problem is that I am not sure if I should wear it ? If I wear my beta tester jacket am I going to get lynched by the mob tounge.gif

I second this question.

idk where the f*ck to go for decent game reviews.

As I've said before I'm really enjoying the game, I've been on it for a few hours with friends today and we haven't encountered any major issues. The only problem at the moment is getting disconnected every now and then and the Clubs being offline. But some of the stuff people are complaining about like the handling, I really can't see what the issue is with it at all.

I am not sure you can upload photos taken with photo mode. I had a play around with the photo feature and it appears you can only view them in your photo album in the game (yep another stupid stupid decisions by Atari/Eden). Your best bet is to use a screen shot program, alternatively the latest beta version of steam has an inbuilt screenshot facility.

As for whether I would recommend this game. I rarely say to people "yes buy this game" because tastes vary. I am certainly enjoying it, I have put 20 hours into the SP racing so far. At the moment I am driving around Ibiza trying to cover all the roads which is enjoyable. I haven't touched MP play (not really my thing) but it is kinda cool when you are driving around to see other people driving around too.

It is a very arcade racer that doesn't take itself too seriously, the graphics whilst not "jaw dropping" do set the scene nicely and some of the vistas are very pleasing to the eye. I am glad I got the game, I normally hate racers and end up playing them for about an hour or less but with TU 2 I keep going back for more and never leaving.

It isn't always sea and sunshine in Ibiza it seems :-

WastedEngland

I've been reading around, this topic and the red mist over at the official forums and I have to say, I don't know what all the fuss is about.

I'll try and cover most issues that I have:

Server issues, everyone is having them, i'm probably lucky as when I boot up the game and get the 'servers are down' message it only takes me 3 or 4 attempts before it loads up my online profile. When i'm online, I get ~7 people on most of the time, when close to them the connection is mostly smooth however the distance between me and other drivers can vary, from a few yards away to other sides of the island (much like TDU) One thing I do like is it seems like more people spawn around landmarks and important areas like the license centers, car dealers and etc. The only downside to that is the amount of cars that spawn outside your house, it's a bit odd to appear outside your house in your car, then have 5 or so other stationary people litter the street. This is a personal gripe though (especially on launch day, so many red Lancia's mercie_blink.gif) On the downside though, I can randomly get kicked on to offline mode without warning, other racers from the championships appear as freeroamers (Miami Harris etc) and then other times i'll have no other freeroamers at all for a good 15 mins. Not a bad thing, as there doesn't seem to be a way to mute any mic breathers online and the offline free roamers drive stupidly slow.

Yes, the driving physics have changed. At first try, it will seem extremely twitchy and if you're heavy on the throttle then you'll be spinning more than the Tasmanian devil. I decided to turn the driving aid to extreme (or off, can't remember) and I know many of you will scorn me for this but i've actually adapted to it really well, just by not heavy footing it everywhere and being lenient with corners. As such, I feel quite satisfied with the handling as i've learnt it and taking corners perfectly feels quite rewarding and learning to drive a new/different car is part of a challenge I think more racing games should have. Of course, the debate still rages on about if you should have to learn to drive in a new game or should it just imitate it's previous installment or a rival game (Which I think it shouldn't)

Some people have said the graphics suck and I couldn't disagree more (However I am on PC, so I can't take into account the console versions look) I think the Island of Ibiza (havn't unlocked Hawaii yet) looks great, the weather looks good and the day-night cycle is beautiful (especially compared to the sunrise-midday-sunset-midday-sunrise thing TDU had) and a great thing I found is the nights on the game are a good brightness, some games nightimes seem to be too bright or dark whereas TDU2 has a good sense of darkness but the car headlights and other lights don't feel too weak or blinding. Cars are well modelled, the interiors look great however the only dynamic things are the tachometer, speedometer and GPS if the car has it. It's unfortunate as it couldn't have been hard to add digital displays even if they do just show the time or gear etc.

Of course it's not perfect. There is an issue with pop in, a distant hillside can be bare one frame and full of trees 2 frames later and there doesn't seem to be any DOF, the blur and speed effect is underpowered, and cars do seem too clean and in some aspects cel-shaded.

As for sound, i'm happy with how vehicles sound, some people claim that there is no difference between driving with the windows up or down and that there is no wind however I hear a difference but then again I play at higher volumes with an X-fi sound card, a volume fix would be appreciated as the game does seem quiet overall and the wind/windows change could be more obvious.

PC performance is lacking, luckily with my specs I can get 40-60fps with everything on very high, 1920x1080x60 and 4x aa but it still seems juddery when panning the camera or taking fast corners, even if fraps is showing a good frame rate. If I bump the aa up to 8 then I get 30-50 fps. It rarely drops below 30 however I was expecting smoother gameplay and possibly more players online (never goes past 8 players)

Controls are dissapointing. Even though I can use keyboard+mouse and Xbox 360 Controller at the same time the game doesn't let me map controls for both devices at the same time, which is a real pain as it's easier to use keyboard+mouse for all the times you're not in a car and easier to use the controller when you are. This doesn't sound like a pain until you realise you can't map the mouse axis, the trigger buttons DONT work on the map screen even though the button map at the bottom clearly states that the trigger buttons control the zoom. I tried to map the trigger buttons as gear shift up+down but they wouldn't work and generally mapping buttons is irratating as it doesn't always register.

Gear shifting is slow and painful, I usually like to race around on manual transmission but it's so frustrating when having to change down quickly from say 5th to 2nd, but in the game you have to change down to 4th, 3rd and then 2nd no matter how many times you mash the gear down button. Changing up also seems quite slow, sometimes at the start of a race/challenge as the counter reaches 'GO!' your avatar/car will get stuck in neutral for a second before actually setting off, this is in manual or automatic.

Personal issues I have are the ability to adjust your pov (seat height, position etc) in cockpit view from TDU is gone, you can't change the driving aid from the pop up menu anymore, you can't bring up players or set online/offline mode from the pop up menu anymore, there are 2 radio stations that have awful adverts and play either soft rock or club music, neither of which I like and there doesn't seem to be any way to play custom playlists.

Basically if that was too much of a read, I find that the major and minor fixes for this game can be applied via a well made patch, and possibly an overhaul of the server system. This is by no way a bad game (again, I'm aware of people finding game breaking bugs and the shambles of a server system and I can only speak from my own experience) It's just dissapointing when sinking so many hours into TDU and how great that game was, that this sequal has fallen on it's face just off the line. Hopefully Eden listen to the community and apply what we want to make the game what we were hoping. If they decide to revert to their old handling system is thier own choice, I personally like the handling now i've gotten used to it and I personally don't see Eden wiping all there handling work but with the volume of complaints it's not impossible.

The main thing I really wanted to know was is it not too harsh on people new to the series. I played the demo of the first game recently it took me a while to fully get used to the driving. People keep saying the driving is too sensitive and realistic, but others say its too arcadey and like NFS, so which is it?

Also are xbox servers actually working or not?

Once they patch it they really need to give us a free dlc car pack for all this bullsh*t.

Good choice, because all that is said bad about it is true. I can see how can people like it, but at least stop defending it like there's no tomorrow.

Really, the physics have gone from fun to: "Is this even a car?", because you really can't feel the car, even for arcade it's bad. TDU 1 was arcade but it had weight shift, proper turning and less grip, the grip might have been a problem a lot of times though, felt like driving a car whereas this feels like I'm driving a blob on the screen that defies any reason.

I would like to buy this game, since I really loved TDU. But one question: Can you put your own music in the game ? I would love to listen to classic rock or jazz, something TDU 2 doesn't have, as far as I know.
