Narcis_speed6 Posted February 9, 2011 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Had the 'honor' to play this and I gotta say is the most retarded driving system in all the games I played. when it says, 'take your car to a spin' that really is it, if you lose control then consider the race lost, the car spins non-stop and you can't do anything, they did a big mistake by not keeping the old handling. I haven't done much races so far however the handling in my opinion has been improved upon TDU1 where cars just felt too heavy. I'm driving in hardcore mode now with an x360 controller, the only times I spin out are when I just over accelerate out of a bend. Feathering the throttle makes the car drift nicely. I'm really not sure what you guys are on about. Personally I'm already in love with the game. I really have no clue what you guys hate about physics. The game clearly isn't trying to be a simulator. It's a relaxing experience compared to when I do races in GTR/NFS shift where I'll be paying 110% attention to whatever's going on and usually end up so sweaty I'll need a shower after a racing session. Graphics are OK, and its not like bad voice acting is going to ruin a bloody driving game. It's there just to lead from one race to another. nothing more nothing less. matthew1g Posted February 9, 2011 Share Posted February 9, 2011 something else I've just noticed, I just got a golf GTi to replace the lacia delta integrale. now that car was made for rallying it takes to offroads like a duck to water, the GTi can barely move on offroad tracks. However I can tell you that the Lotus Espirit S3 is one of the first cars you can have access too. It is the car I am driving around in now, think it was about $40,000 and you start off with $75,000 cash. Money wise the races are fairly generous you get around $3,000 per race and usually a lump sum of over $60,000 per championship. There are some ridiculous oddities like $1,500 for a car wash . The cars are priced around the same level as their real world counterparts from what I can tell, I am not much of a petrol head so I wouldn't really know. The "on foot" camera is always in first person, but most of the cut scenes are in third person (winner celebrations, interviews that sort of thing). All in all so far I am quite enjoying it which is rather strange for me because I usually find racing games boring. Normally I wait till they are a fiver in a steam sale and play them for 30 minutes before never touching them again. But for some reason TU 2 has grabbed my attention and there is a sort of "oh just one more go" feeling when playing it. Performance wise I get around 30/50fps (never dips below 30fps) with all settings maxxed at 1920 x 1080 and 4 x AA which isn't bad for a 4 year old quadcore and a GTX260 (old version). I can't see any reason why beefier rigs wouldn't max this game out at the same res and get 60fps. Graphically I actually kinda like it, sure it aint no Grand Turismo but then Grand Turismo isn't an open world racer with thousands of miles of road and the ability to quite literally go everywhere. The draw distance is quite good too for the most part except the shadows which you can see being drawn about 50ft from your car (what is it with sh*t shadows this gen ?). So far it is good fun and I am really enjoying it, but I get the feeling if you are looking for a "realistic" racing game then TU 2 isn't going to satisfy you. Only today I was considering buying this game until I read everyones comments on the driving. I really loved Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit's driving, it's easy, not much traffic. I enjoyed Midnight Club: LA but mainly because I like car customisation like turning a Golf GTI in to a beast or a Peugot 206 in NFS: U2 in to the anti-christ. I suppose I like arcade racing games. My personal opinion on a game with good driving would GTA4, or the original driver series. I like bouncy suspension and power sliding. This seems like its more about the straight roads and speed than any decent cornering. I was just wondering, if it is better than the first, as I could just buy that on downloadables via xbox live and play that instead, if it is better. I still dont know if I should buy or not. from 1:57 onwards makes it look really nice. But I still cant be sure. If each car apparently handles differently, which is the best for power sliding? Its no where near as nice as GTA4s or Driver. Its a combination of on rails with sudden loss of control. The first game is great, I'd just get that if I was you. So far I'm enjoying it, can't see what people's complaints are with the handling, it takes a bit of getting used to but it's fine as far as I'm concerned. Admittedly the voice acting is terrible, and my only real complaint is the lack of windscreen wipers! They have indicators, and windows that work, but no wipers, seems odd to me.
