Welcome to the inaugural GTAF Crew League

This league is open to any and every PS3, forum-based crew. All matches will be in freeaim and all races non-contact with a set of rules that are laid out below. The league is designed in such a way that, regardless of whether you're a racing crew or a shooter crew, you will have just as much of a chance as everybody else. The winner will be the crew that can prove that they can do a little of both.

Fight Hard

Play Fair

Drive Fast

Fly Well

Good Luck

If you have any questions, feel free to post below or PM me.

If you would like to change your crews displayed emblem, please provide me with a 128x128 image of the emblem you wish to have displayed.

All Team Captains, please add each other on PSN (if you haven't already).

Special thanks to W_Flemming for the graphics. Check out some of her artwork here.

League & Matches:

  • The league will follow a similar format to European Football Leagues. Each team will play each other twice (home and away).
  • A win will result in 3 points being awarded. 1 point for a draw. 0 points for a loss.
  • Each match will consist of 6 games. 1 TDM, 1 Capture, 2 Races and 2 Top Funs (alternating teams).
  • The home team chooses the maps, only Rockstar created maps may be chosen.
  • All chosen maps must be able to accommodate a MINIMUM of 6 players for a 3 v 3. 2 v 2 maps and 4 player races are not allowed. All allowed maps will be posted below.
  • If a 5 v 5/ 6 v 6/ whatever is agreed but one team only has 3 members at game time, the match will become a 3 v 3. There will be no punishment unless a crew repeatedly shows up with less than 3 members.
  • 3 playlists must be created. One for TDM & Capture, 1 for the 2 races and 1 for the 2 Top Funs. (The reason for this is that it becomes easier to make substitutions and games won't be limited to the smallest map size in the playlist.)
  • A win difference system will be used. (i.e if Team A wins 4 games and loses 2, their win difference increases by 2). Win difference will only be taken into account if 2 or more teams are level on points at the end of the season.
  • If 2 or more teams are level on points AND win difference at the end of the season, head to head results between those teams will decide the winner.
  • If 2 or more teams are still miraculously level, the number of games the teams have won will decide the winner.
  • If all else fails, extra head to head games may be needed to decide the final positions of teams.
  • Each match must be played at some point within a 2 week window. It is the Home Team Captain's responsibility to contact the Away Team Captain. Please do so publicly in the respective gang threads, so that it is clear if one team is not making an effort.
  • If the match does not go ahead within the 2 week window and it is clear that the Home Team Captain made no effort, the Away Team is awarded a 6 - 0 victory.
  • Similarly, if it is obvious that the Home Team Captain is making an effort but the game does not go ahead, the Home Team will be awarded a 6 - 0 victory.
  • Pictures of final scores must be taken for me to be able to tally scores and present awards to top performers.

Captains & Players:

  • It is the Team Captain's responsibility to choose the modes for home games and to organise the match with the opposition's Captain. I will be on hand to aid and accelerate this process.
  • If the Team Captain is unavailable for whatever reason, the Vice-captain will take his place.
  • Any player who is a member of the crew on RSC may take part.
  • Players may not represent 2 crews, if they are a member of 2 crews they must choose which 1 they wish to play for.
  • Mid-playlist substitutions are not allowed, as they don't always work.
  • Teams do not have to be the same for each playlist.
  • Captains and Vice-Captains do not have to play, as long as other players know the rules.

Procedure:

  • Prior to the game, the Home Team Captain must choose which maps will be played and post them here.
  • 3 playlists must then be made. 1 for TDM & Capture, 1 for the 2 races and 1 for the 2 Top Funs. (I will be happy to make them and post a link here).
  • The Team Captains must add each other on PSN and agree a date and time.
  • On matchday, the Home Team Captain must create a PSN chat and invite the Away Team Captain.
  • The Home Team Captain must create an invite only freemode session and invite his players as well as the Away Team Captain. The Away Team Captain can then invite his players to the freemode session.
  • Once everyone is ready, the Home Team Captain must launch the playlist and choose to invite players from the current session. (N.B do NOT select auto-invite and play).
  • After every game, any player must get a picture of the score. This is not critical, but if there is no record of your score, you don't have a chance of winning an award.
  • In the case of a disconnection, the game will not be restarted. It is too much of a hassle. The player must rejoin in the next game.
  • While waiting for players to join, keep matchmaking open so that players may join if they don't receive an invite. The lobby timer may be reset by quickly closing and then reopening matchmaking. If you are not receiving invites, you can join lobbies by joining friends through the pause menu as long as matchmaking is open.
  • If players are still unable to join, they will have to add the Home Team Captain to be invited directly.
  • After each mini playlist, the procedure of inviting players from a private freemode will be repeated.

Disconnections:

  • If a player disconnects before the game starts (in the pre-game screen where you can buy ammo and choose you victory toast), leave and try again.
  • If a player disconnects after the game has started, continue playing. If you feel like being nice, you may drop out to even out the teams but there is no rule that you have to.

Miscellaneous:

  • No form of cheating is allowed. This includes usage of turbo controllers, lagswitches and general mods and hax. Teams found cheating will be removed from the tournament.
  • If a team pulls out of the tournament midway through the season, all previous results of matches involving that crew are stricken from the record. All remaining teams are awarded a 6 - 0 win against that team, irrelevant of what the actual score was.
  • Teams may not play another round until they have completed the current round. (i.e a team cannot play their Round 5 match before playing their Round 4 match.)
  • If 2 teams have already played their matches of the current round before the end of the 2 week window for that round, they may move on and play each other in the next round before the 2 week window for that round officially opens. (e.g if Team A and Team C have both played their Round 3 matches and are scheduled to play in Round 4, they may play each other in their Round 4 match before the Round 4 window opens.
  • If you have trouble understanding the rule above (I do and I wrote it :p) don't worry, it's not important. I will tell you when you can and can't play.

Looking good! Thumbs up for doing this.

Can you give us a timeframe when it starts. I am promoting this under the d1rties and this was the first question

Next Tuesday I'm going to compile the fixture list. Officially the 2 week window for Round 1 will start next Friday, but Round 1 matches can be played before that so games can start going ahead from next Tuesday. :)

If you're wondering why I typed out the whole (4 v 4 or 5 v 4 or 6 v 6) sh*t, I'm not mentally disabled, it makes it easier to choose a map. If you know that a match will be an 8 v 8 you just look for the maps with the longest lines of text.

Updated the maps and added a colour system for choosing games.

I did the fixtures for Round 1 now, I thought it was best to start organising early since there will inevitably be some confusion at 1st. If 1 more crew joins before Tuesday, they will not play in Round 1 (odd number of teams) unless another crew joins as well. If that happens, I will add that match to Round 1. I used a website to generate the fixtures, I have them for all rounds but they will change if someone joins before Tuesday so I won't add them yet. Round 1 fixtures will not change, though. Get organising.

I'm in Riz ..... anytime DDZN needs a racer that is, if its TDM or any mode that requires me to use the crappy shooting mechanics of V then .... meh !

I just read the rules ....

Traffic must be set to ON.

Just why ?? If this is so count me out, it becomes more a game of luck than skill, would rather race hard against others not having to worry about laggy traffic ..........

Rules can be changed if both teams agree, Nitty. From my experience, non-contact land races with traffic OFF always end up with the player in pole winning. We'd be willing to change that rule for our game if the rest of DDZN share your opinion.

Fixtures added.

I agree with Don, if traffic is ON I'll have to drop out from the list as there's no skill involved. I've raced counteless times and started in back or mid positions and I can consistently end up in higher positions and sometimes also win, so it all depends on the skill of the drivers.

Don't wanna sound like an a.ss but seems like the league was designed more towards the decent shooters and noob drivers, according to the rules.

Aside from that, good job on the effort put into this. ;)

The traffic ON rule was designed to make races more competitive. I've never lost a non-contact race with traffic OFF after starting in pole and being on par with everyone else in terms of vehicle power and I'm not the best racer by any means. It has to be non-contact because inevitably someone will start whining that he was in first but got pitted and ended up losing. As I've said, that is just the baseline rule. If the 2 teams agree to change it, that's fine. If there is a disagreement, then ON is the rule that will be used.

So DDZN want traffic OFF.

DAMN don't care.

GTAF are split on it as far as I know.

For our games we'll set traffic to OFF, against other teams you will have to negotiate it with them.

If that's the case I'm back in lol

Traffic ON and Non Contact ON confuse my old brain and I inevitably drive into traffic expecting to ghost through it ! in all honesty in all competitive races I have had in GTAO (quite a lot now) I have never come across another racer who likes traffic ON ?

I take it the traffic debate is a technical matter? Lag..Cars appearing from nowhere ect?

Ok ok ok ok ok.....

Ok

I'm host BUT I'm also just a gamer and happy to take feedback. So how about this.

Invite me to a race tonight or sometime over the next few days. Non-contact, custom vehicles OFF, traffic OFF. If you can show me that it's not a case of "finish in the position you started," I will change the default rule to traffic OFF.

What I need to see is a decent spread at the finish line. People finishing 1 - 2 seconds apart with the person who started in pole winning = rule doesn't change. :^:

Yes Monk and I agree that it is incredibly frustrating when it's very bad. The thing is, it's the same for everyone, the laggy drivers are not biased. When there isn't lag and everything runs smoothly, it's fun and challenging but the problem is that no 2 races are ever the same.

It will depend on the technicality of the track Toxic, if its Route 68 the finish line will be the same as the start line as its a straight line !! chose something slightly harder and you will see the winner will be the racer who chooses the optimal lines.

also if I invite you to a race it won't be a R* one cos lets face it the custom content out there is of much higher quality ... ;)

@Monk - yes mainly lag but also just straight weird to have a randomiser such as traffic in a competitive situation (you can compare this to autoaim debates, auto shotty debates, etc) it just something that is frowned upon within the race circles I'm in, and I am struggling to find a reason why it would need to be in ??

Good point, Nitty. I think a track like Route 68 needs traffic ON. If you can pick out similar "easy" tracks like that I will make those ones traffic ON and the rest traffic OFF.

I`m no bothered one way or other Nitty. I agree that competitive events should be done in the purest form its just that I see GTA more as street racing which the traffic would have an effect on but that`s only my view and if the game does not hold together enough due to lag ect then get rid of it. The less variables other than ability the better. Whatever makes it closest to sport is the best option for this. Same goes for outlawing Lester ect.

Removing all "easy" land races like Route 68 and Criminal Records and changing traffic rule to OFF. Please indicate which tracks you consider to be easy and I'll look at the map.

You can start by removing "The Commute" and "Down the Drain" for starters lol

Just a reminder, you don't have to play each playlist on the same day. You can do the TDM + Capture one day, the races another, etc. There is no order, do the versus mission 1st if you want. However, if any of the 3 playlists aren't played by the end of the window, somebody is getting a 6 - 0 win regardless of previous scores.

Just a heads up.

The game should sort you by crew if you start with even numbers. If it mixes teams, leave and try again. If it happens again, leave and launch the playlist as a head to head. :^:

Keep matchmaking closed so that the game doesnt automatically launch before everyone is ready.

Shady I saw you already have 2 of your playlists, when is your game going ahead? :)

Haha that's what I suggested everyone does anyway. 1 for TDM + Capture, 1 for Races, 1 for Versus. Great minds. :D Don't forget the Versus Mission.

Good luck, make sure you get pictures for the awards. :^: Tell enjoi and THR to do the same in case anyone forgets.
