Carbinax 196
The theme tune to the Banana Splits blatantly ripped off the yay ya ya part of Bob Marleys "buffalo soldier" but speeded it up

Stephan90 824
These two sound similar to me. Really the only ones I could think of right now. This song seems to be a damn rip off from this song from 1991 Edited February 21, 2015 by Stephan90

Homemade Dynamite 4,069
Interestingly, both were featured in the Project Gotham Racing series. I guess few people noticed this due to the latter not being released as a single.

JustinBieber 0
I guess all songs sound pretty much alike when the only thing you've ever listened to is "radio music". Noobish thread needs to be locked and thrown into pop music category. Thanks. Edited June 12, 2015 by JustinBieber

Abel. 5,854
Listen to the opening riffs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbUcJRFo3i0 A lot of bands "borrowed" from Saxon. I don't have an issue with it in this case--Iron Maiden are top and Two Minutes to Midnight has its own merits beyond the opening riff.
Vega LVI 313
'Taurus' by Spirit and 'Stairway to Heaven' by Led Zeppelin... Idk how many of you are aware, but there is/was a plagiarism lawsuit against Zeppelin for using the same opening guitar arpeggios as in 'Taurus,' w/o giving Spirit a songwriter's credit. Ofc it's nearly an identical chord progression, but was it really "stolen" by Jimmy Page? Who the hell knows...? Edited June 30, 2015 by Vega LVI

theGTAking101 2,320
Listen to the chorus of both songs, they kinda sound alike. People are getting mad saying Taylor copied Lana but I don't really have a problem with it. I love both of them.
sammystarock 329
That's a nice thread idea! Now, I won't post two songs than sound alike, but a video by Vsauce related to this topic, which I think is very interesting:

mr quick 10,632
^ Pretty much illustrates why I hate the pop music industry so f*cking much. We know so much about harmony, melody, rhythm, instrumentation, synthesis, resonance, sound, dynamics etc. but we waste it on sh*tty, compressed and unextended functional harmonics in the key of money. ...alright, breathe. No rant.
