Maybe I could had just used "Saturday" without the "next" before it, though I did posted it last Friday so it was not misleading imo ;)

2 Giro Stages already gone and Tour of California starting on May 5th 2200 GMT +1, some 25 mins from now :D

Yeah I'm not watching the Tour of Cali, only the Giro if I'm home. Contador now in the lead which is awesome

Pretty uneventful stage in the Giro today except for the finishing sprint where Danielle Colli of Nippo whatever had a nasty accident after colliding with a spectator's camera. He dislocated his freakin elbow on impact and it looked sooo painful! Contador was also injured in the resulting pileup, but at least he got back up and made it to the finish.

Contador dislocated his shoulder on the crash (also some damage on the knees), pulled it back on place and then dislocated it again just before the podium ceremony.

You can clearly see at the podium ceremony that he never moves his left arm and even refuses to dress the pink jersey:

http://www.steephill.tv/players/youtube3/?title=Alberto+Contador+injured+in+finish+crash;+unable+to+don+leader%27s+jersey&dashboard=giro-d-italia&id=0G6PrP-Q7tA&yr=2015

Here's his interview (in Spanish) just after he was examined :

http://www.steephill.tv/players/youtube3/?title=Alberto+Contador+Interview+Post+Stage+6+Medical+Exam&dashboard=giro-d-italia&id=ZtxIxr-gw4g&yr=2015

Today's stage will surely be very painful to him, though it's a flat stage it's 264 kms long (some 7hrs on the bike)!

Hopefully he will make it until the end today, though even if he does tomorrow's mountain stage will probably dictate the end of this year's Giro winning prospects for him (I seriously doubt that he will be able to ride off saddle, up the mountains, like he usually does and no way Aru and Porte will show any mercy on him).

Contador seems to be fine today. Doesn't really show any signs of pain or anything. God I still have that image of Colli's arm in my head.

Don't know if I should just give up on this topic and let it die or not, but..

.. is anyone else watching le Tour this year or is it just me?

Exciting stuff so far. Carnage on the road yesterday with two high speed pile-ups which took out a few riders including Gerrans, and which led to the eventual withdrawals of Spartacus Cancellara and one of my overall favourites, Impey :( Made front page news in almost all the big newspapers over here today. Oh well, at least we still have MTN-Qhubeka this year!

Edit: also, Paolini (Katusha) was disqualified after st7 after testing positive for cocaine. Made me laugh a little lol.

Also also, (don't know who I'm talking to in here haha) but all the best to Ivan Basso who had to withdraw from the Tour after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

f*ck me Froome on stage 10. That's crazy performance.

He's pretty much got it this year methinks.

Hope Ivan makes a full speedy recovery. That news really sucks.

Yeah only way anyone can beat Froome now is if he suffers some bad luck like last year. Quintana stands the best chance to catch up i think, but there's no way Froome will let that happen.

Still a long way from Paris though

True, with the likes of Geraint and Richie protecting him I feel he'll only go on to extend his lead before the Champs-Élysées. Not enough bunch sprints for a Tony Martin-esque bad luck tumble too.

Aww hell yeah MTN-Qhubeka!! \o/

Man they've had an awesome Tour so far with Teklehaimanot and Cummings (and Meintjies had a great day on st12 as well). Fingers crossed for Boasson Hagen on the Champs-Elysees lol.

Also, Froome is a machine. No one can get away from him. Quintana tried though, and at least he rode his way into second place overall.

Just my 2c here...

Froome is really starting to piss me off with his comments and the way he confronts other riders like Nibali (or even Wiggins etc) when things don't go his way. Nibali knows that he cannot win anymore, and yesterday he was going for a stage win, not to try and gain time on Froome.

Edit: but well done to Froome anyway. Well deserved victory. He was unbeatable this year. Next year my money's on Quintana though.

Yeah thankfully no problems during the stage. All c*nts stayed away.

Wasn't the most exciting final stage because of the rain earlier, but great sprint by Greipel at the end (and Boasson Hagen crossing the line in 4th)

Yeah, it kinda sucked. With those "Fantastic 4" I surely did expected more.

1st week was great though and it did make some difference in the end.

I didn't posted since sadly it seems it's just us and Mark every now and then.

Like the song says, the times are changing, hopefully on 2016 there'll be more of "us" around here.

I'll still update any major stuff, if/when appropriate.

It was a good Tour, but I just hope there will be more opportunities for the sprinters next year. We hardly saw any sprints this year.

Been long since my last post here (cyc not that pop, I guess), still, after today's Giro stage I just must do it.

Amazing cycling stage, for sure the best I've seen in a long time.

Kruijswijk should win it, I do hope he does, still Fri&Sat stages will surely be attacked by the rest so Kru must be on its best.

Congrats Valverde, you truly deserved your 1st stage win @Giro.

This topic sucks with so few contributors..

But anyway, great performance by Nibali on the penultimate stage to clinch his second Giro win. Exciting stuff!

A shame that Kruijswijk lost his pink jersey after crashing so spectacularly on st19

haha.

Also don't really agree with the decision to disqualify Nizzolo on the last stage for changing his sprinting line. Was a chaotic sprint but he didn't do anything wrong imo. At least he won the points classification overall.

So earlier this month, Dimention Data's Keagan Girdlestone was involved in a horrific crash into the back of his own team car at the Coppa della Pace in Italy, and now his management have revealed the extent of his injuries:

Contrary to initial reports, Keagz did not sustain any facial injuries. The critical injuries were

sustained to his neck and throat.

"He severed not only the cartoid artery, but the jugular vein, nerve and muscles, said Girdlestones management team on Sunday.

Due to major loss of blood at the scene as well as the time it took to get him to surgery, the right hand side of his brain was starved of blood and oxygen.

"He also sustained bruising of his brain due to the impact as well as vocal cord damage. At this stage the full extent of his injuries is unknown as well as the period of rehabilitation.

He is breathing on his own, but with difficulty as one of the nerves controlling his diaphragm has been damaged.

"He has limited movement of his left side due to the lack of oxygen to the brain, however, this is showing signs of improvement.

"The right side, which is being affected by nerve damage, is also limited. He is able to move his leg and squeeze his hand, but there is no movement of his arm.

The family thanked the overwhelming support they had received following the incident.

With continued rehabilitation it is hoped that all functionality will improve as time passes.

"However, any possible long term effects are still unknown. Your continued support, prayers and positivity is greatly appreciated by Keagz and his family.

Holy crap! Thankfully his condition is improving though. Still looks really bad, but just hope he eventually makes a full recovery.

Been quite a few horror crashes in cycling in recent months, including Antoine Demoitie fatal collision with a motorbike at Gent-Wevelgem in March.

Gotta say though that this year's le Tour was a pretty big disappointment. Yes Froome was the overall favourite to win from the start, but with the abandonment of Contador and Quintana's inability to do anything really because of illness/allergies (or so he says...*rolls eyes*), there was just absolutely no one that could challenge Froome for yellow. I was bored (at least with the GC competition) from the first week. Froome definitely made it super difficult for everyone though, like with his crazy descend of Pyresourde on st8 (he sure did have nuts of steel this year). He didn't really have to take risks, but he did and he kept on extending his lead slightly every chance he got till the very end, with no challenges from anyone whatsoever. It's almost as if he was the only one racing for that yellow jersey.

The Tour had its moments though, like the sprint finishes as always, and with brilliant performances by Dimension Data, Valverde (he at least tried. Make him team leader of Movistar instead), and the chaos on the shortened route up Mount Ventoux where Froome abandoned his bike to show off his marathon running skillz (and boxing a bit earlier), as well as Adam Yates' somersault over a collapsed banner, and Alaphilippe's gymnastics in the mountains (seriously, how was he not injured in that crash?? Not even a scratch).

There was also no real challenge for the points classification as Sagan was so damn far ahead of everyone else that no one contested him.

Overall, one of the worst tours I've ever seen. Hopefully thing will be much better next year.

Also, Meintjes on the podium in Paris maybe? Fingers crossed.

Next up olympics and vuelta. Don't even know if there'll be any SA cyclists in rio. I'm sure we've sent someone tho.

In other news, glad to see that Girdlestone is getting better. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery and get back on his bike soon.

Hope Froome gets suspended. Dumbass cheating hypocrite.

That is all.

Mind you, would be entertaining to see how the large crowds in the mountains and on the podiums treat him this year if he doesn't get suspended. But still no question in my mind that he should be banned
