GTAO Beer Hat Glitch

I actually helped a young American kid get one today from a special crate. He may have been a squeaker but he was polite, didn't shoot on sight and just wanted to actually play the game. We were robbing stores before the message popped up, seeing how many we could do and how long we could go before the cops got us. I was originally going to get it for myself since I only have the patriot one (it turned out to be the green one).

 

It was great, me, him and another of his friends jumped in a titan until it dropped. We jumped out, he ran for the crate and I took out 2 groups of players trying to rush in and get the crate. It felt great to be doing something good for once, the kid was so happy. For the rest of the night he was constantly thanking me and telling me how he can't believe he got a beer hat. Afterwards we all got on motorcycles and started doing stunts out in blaine county and started messing with the trains. Days like this actually remind me there are still some nice people out there

I think it may be that I need to collect another special crate for him. I would try but haven't spent the time doing it.

I've got the Los Santos Belle shirt for both of mine.

I switched characters and got a Patriot Beer Hat.

No glitching, and no special crates. Game just gave it to me.

 

(maybe that's not news, but I didn't think they were handed out at random)

I noticed after I finished missions "satellite communications" or "crank up the volume"

special crate drop came right after in a lobby

 

I realized I was triggering the special crate drop

how do you get those missions?

 

 

I had a friend that did the mission already or you can call Ron and request job :-)

That's actually how I got most of mine. I regularly use both of my characters. Just swapping between them will usually give your primary character one.

yeah but you got a "special crate" already...this happen to me as well :-)

Okay, simple answer is "YES", but truly IDK, because no one who has not activated it will respond. What I mean is players like myself that already have the glitch activated on our character still have the glitch in effect. So when I swap characters I still get the pop-up that states "Crate Contents: _______ Beer Hat". BUT IDK if a player ca still activate it, but I would assume it still works, IF you first acquired a "Special Crate Drop & Unlocked "1" Beer Hat, then the rest comes with the glitch. but if you know otherwise please PM me here. Thanks.

I have now collected 13 Special Crates since the 1.15 update... Haven't seen a single person (other than someone with a modded console) having the J Lager or Blarney's hats.

 

I'd have to guess that, if they were able to be gotten, at least one person would have gotten one by now...

Finally decided to give this a go. Created a 2nd character just for this and it worked on the first try. Thanks OP.

The glitch worked for me, tried it 4 times (already had 1 beer hat legit) and I got all the beer hats and the statue of Happiness T-shirt (for some reason I had to go to the shop to get it, it didn't go straight into my wardrobe) but that was about a week ago.

If you had the glitch active on a character it should STILL be active, like when I switch to my 1st(female) character, NOW, I still get a Hat(or shirt), the little "Crate Contains: ______Beer Hat" pops-up when loading in the sky and I still get the RP as well. So there is still hope for those who already had it active BUT IDK if it can still be applied as a NEW glitch for those who have never used it.

well I got the hat legitimately and I havent had any luck with the glitch since apparently you need a female character and I have 2 dude characters who are rank 100...
