My male is at 131 and I used an RP glitch to get him up to 120. My female is at 123 and she leveled up normally. I created the male character first.

I would say sacrifice one character and get the hats, but that is completely up to you, as the glitch may not work for you since it is not 100% for everyone.

I like both of my characters and don't want to start from scratch. I've been playing as the male character mainly to try to get them to swap again. Maybe the character in slot one is the one with the most time played. Though I doubt I can get them to switch before the hats become unavailable.

I would suggest simply waiting then, as the other 2 beer hats + Radio T-Shirts may be available to buy or gain again in another event weekend or something along the same lines as those. Who really knows though

I noticed after I finished missions "satellite communications" or "crank up the volume"

special crate drop came right after in a lobby

 

I realized I was triggering the special crate drop

Yeah that's my plan. I've been hoping special crates would drop this weekend so I could try to get him al least one, but they don't seem to be spawning anymore. Though randomly when I switch to my female I'll get another special crate message.

I've seen a couple special crate drops since the event weekend ended, but I'm not sure if they still have the hats, or back to the LS Belle shirt again. Special crate drops never stop occurring, they're just extremely rare compared to regular crate drops.

they drop three times for me, the second time I noticed it was right after I did a ron mission

 

the third time I was ready

Method 1 (Radio T-Shirts & Possibly Hats)

 

Male Main Method 1

1. Load into single player, and go to Online>Choose Character
2. Delete your secondary character if you have one. Make a new Female Character, and skip the tutorial.
3. Start > Online > Swap Character to main Male character
4. Swap character back to your secondary Female character, at which point it will ask you if you want to alter their appearance.
5. Stay on this prompt and sign out of PSN/XBOX LIVE (or unplug router/ethernet).
6. Once back in single player, go to online and sign in when prompted. Select "Choose Character".
7. Choose Male (Main) character, at which point you can change the gender to Female. You should now have two female characters.

1. Edit: Even if you don't see the special tops in your female section, continue on with the glitch!
2. Once you have done that, buy/equip every top on the female as well as scarves.
3. Now put on non-dlc clothing (tops & pants at minimum; if you put on anything else, make sure it is non-dlc as well).
4. Walk out of the store and wait for the saving circle at the bottom right to end. Goto Pause Menu>Online>Leave GTA Online.

How about getting beer hats for your secondary character?

Beer hats for your secondary character would require you to delete your main character.

A.K.A. Not worth it

When I got them for my main I never deleted the 2nd, just used my level 96 2nd girl and the method in the OP worked

same. it worked fine for one of my characters a while ago and it seemed like it wouldnt work on my other character until i got a special crate and i finally did now its not working. i was thinking maybe they have hotfixed it because its been out for so long. has anyone tried recently?

BUT I would assume R* is going to release these shirts when they remove the "Independence Day" DLC it looks a lot like a time released DLC like the Christmas stuff. I would be willing to bet that R* did NOT intend on us unlocking them via a sex change through a glitch. So I guess I will just sit back and wait .

Once again, here's how I got it to work.

 

Load SP, quickly pause, Online -> Choose Character, choose the other character you don't want them for, once it loads quickly pause, Online -> Swap Character, done.

I managed to get the 4 beer hats through this method, but for some reason, I cannot get the Happiness shirt unlocked. I go to Ponsonbys, I check under 'Special Tops'., and the shirt is not there. Try leaving one of the Beer Hats on your Character while you do the Glitch, that is what I did for BOTH characters and I got the shirt within one or two more tries of the glitch. Good Luck.

Is it okay If only one of my characters has the Beer Hats? I have it on my main character, a male, and my secondary is a female solely for this method. Should I wear a Beer Hat, as well as, one of the shirts from the 'Special Tops' also?

I would NOT wear a special top, BUT do wear a BEER hat, and NO it shouldn't matter about your other character, because when I first did it my 2nd character did not have the hats and she still got the shirt. BUT I do think having a BEER HAT on your character helps get you the shirt, but again I would not wear a "Special Top".

Edit: I finally have the Statue of Happiness shirt. Thank you once again SeaWall for the tips of wearing the Beer Hats, It seems that was the problem.
