GTAO Beer Hat Glitch

Glitch didn't work for me the 3 times I tried it and I spent many hours looking for this ****in hat... 5 regular crate drops and no special items. This wasn't too well thought out by Rockstar seeing as how most crate drops are glitched.

 

I did however figure out that Sattelite Communications does trigger crates to start dropping because I didn't get crate drops until I completed that mission. Is there possibly another mission that needs to be done before special crates start dropping? Perhaps a Trevor mission?

Confirmed working on PS3.

 

1. Start a Regular Online Session with the character YOU DO WANT the hat for. Make sure they don't already have a Beer Hat or any other type of Hat, Helmet, etc. on. ( The first time I tried this I was wearing a Beer Hat already and wanted to see if it worked, it didn't. So I decided to try one more time and it worked by following these steps above.)
2. Then switch to your SECOND CHARACTER, the character YOU DO NOT WANT the beer hat for.
3. Once out of the cloud Start>Online>Leave GTA Online
4. Once in Single Player, Hard Press PS3 Home Button>Quit Game to XMB>Power Off PS3
5. Turn PS3 back on then start GTA V and let it load into Single Player, then start an Invite Only Session.
6. You should be on the character YOU DO NOT WANT the hat for.
7. Now Press Start>Online>Swap Characters.
8. You should now be loaded into an Online Session with the character YOU DO WANT the beer hat for.
9. Hold Select>Inventory>Hats, or if you spawned in your Apartment, Change Clothes>Hats, you're new beer hat should be available.
10. Take off your new hat and repeat the process for another Beer Hat.

 

My friend told me that they might be releasing 2 Beer Hats a day, 6 total. So if you want all 6 hats just make sure that depending on the day you started this little glitch determines how many times you'd have to do it in one day.

For example I just tried the method, therefore I had to do it 4 times to get the 4 already available hats released on Friday and Saturday. I'll have to repeat the method again myself later on today to receive the other 2 hats I do not have.

This is speculation, but it makes perfect sense.

We were also able to receive the Statue of Happiness Shirt doing this method as well as it was unlocked upon entering online via a tooltip message on bottom left corner of screen above the map. Just drive to a clothing store and unlock it there.

EDIT: THE STATUE OF HAPPINESS SHIRT DID NOT UNLOCK. YOU CAN RANDOMLY RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION SAYING IT DID, BUT AFTER CHECKING INVENTORY AND STORES WE FOUND THAT IT DID NOT UNLOCK. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION.

Credit to OP for sharing the original method. I only tested and with help figured out the process to get all 6 Beer Hats and Statue of Happiness T-Shirt.

Are both your characters of the same sex?

 

yea, both are male. Was it confirmed that the second character was required to be female?

 

 

your gonna have to delete one of your characters and make a female one. Then do the glitch....

 

this was the key! it works now. I used seawall's method. My PV was out but it didn't matter.

July 3rd, July4th, July5th, July6th, do you see the problem here, plus some people got 4 hats and the shirt on Thursday and Friday.

It doesn't say special crate drop, it only says crate drop. Double check..if it's locked you will need a friend or member on here to host the satellite communication's mission for you, I believe.

And what do i need to do to make a special crate drop? I never seen one,only ordinary crates,i got 3 ordinary(green) crates today.Ron called me only once and told me about Crate Drops,never again.

So which mission am i supposed to complete to unlock special crates.

 

EDIT; Also,i got only 1k Cash and some RP from the crates,and some snacks probably.And i did the satelite communications mission aswell.

I finally got all 4 and the t-shirt from the glitch. You have to collect any special crate and then it will work like a breeze. The J Lager and Blarney hats are impossible to get as of now, right?

I believe so. The only people who have access to those two hats seem to be the players who have access to mods.

The PS3 glitch is the order I switch characters and sessions so it explains why I was getting random hat unlocks a couple days back. I posted a thread wondering how it was happened. This explains what was going on

It won't work. Someone should add this to the first page. You cannot do this glitch if you have never picked up a special crate with any character during the lifetime of playing GTA Online.

For those Xbox users struggling to achieve a special crate which is required to perform the glitch, your only hope to getting the hat is to do it legit so I'll be hosting a 4 person invite only session where each person will achieve a beer hat from an actual special crate, I will be hosting this lobby sometime later today and if you would like an invite add and message my GT- HazeyBeef

I tried doing this earlier with my crew and we had 6 people in the lobby but only had normal crates drop. Would you not also have to take into consideration of how long a special crate drop may take? It could hours upon hours unless there is a way to increase the spawn % of them.

The best thing to do is try because they can't do the glitch without achieving a special crate, and they are supposed to drop once every hour, and then you would have to wait another 20 minutes for the crate to actually drop so its worth a shot, I'll be staying on Xbox most of the day so I can try to help everybody. I'm hoping it'll only take around 5 hours to get everybody their hat

I just got the easiest special crate ever. I took out the dudes guarding it and realized not a single player was anywhere near me. I just started taking selfies by the crate before picking it up. lol
