finally got that elusive Patriot

LOL, for me the elusive one was the Benedict hat(the Green one), BUT the shirt was the hardest thing, but it came pretty quick once I just left a hat on but not right away, so I don't know if it was a coincidence.

 

I guess I got lucky. I got all of them basically in order. I got the shirt 2 times and I think it was because I was wearing it.

No one has gotten the other hats other than modders. They might be super rare and we just haven't got them yet, or they could be for snapmatic winners.

I have 2 female characters. Slot 1 got the crate legit. Slot 2 was able to get the hat on her without any notifications, but it doesn't stick (if I changed hats, it goes away). Not really sure what the deal is

Followed the 360 glitch but does not seem to work.

Nope. Only the main needs to have grabbed a special crate in its existence.

OK, just tried this a couple times (SeaWall's method) and didn't get it to work.

 

Character 1 is male, Character 2 is female.

 

I was able to get everything for my female character using the first two methods for PS3... I had gotten 3 special crate drops since 1.15 with her (Shirt, Supa Wet Hat, shirt). I had the Los Santos Belle shirt unlocked well before this weekend.

 

My male character also has the Los Santos Belle shirt and has collected 2 special crates since 1.15 (got my 2nd on him, 5th overall about an hour ago). Both of his crates contained the Patriot hat.

 

Trying to get a "complete set" for my male, while I already have the set for my female. That was why I tried this method.

 

The only popup I noticed was on my female character (in invite only, before switching to my male) was stating that I had x amount of friends online... Dunno if that can even be bypassed, as I was mashing the start button...

 

Can anyone confirm that this works on a character, if the other character already has all of the items...? Or, do we still need a way to get them onto both chars?

If you see normal crates, then you just need to get lucky. If you haven't, you need to unlock them.

Thanks all you amazing lovely people, I finally got the hats I craved for using the 2nd PS3 method. It worked once I changed my 2nd character to a female and now i'm rolling in virtual beer hats. Yay.

Ok I have performed both glitches step by step for the PS3, both Method One (Uninstalling/Reinstalling Game Data) and Method Two (Which involves powering down the PS3, and in some versions entering and exiting the Playstation Store), and none of them work for me.

 

I think there is a unidentified parameter, such as

 

1) You might need to have a Male Character in Slot 1, and a Female in Slot 2 with no exceptions, or

2) You need to have opened a Special Crate Drop beforehand during the Independence Day DLC Event, or

3) You need to set your spawn to "Last Location".

 

These are all of the rumors I am hearing from here, Se7ens, and Reddit, many of which erupted into flamewars on the Glitch Guide Author's English comprehension and grammar.

 

I am getting frustrated at all the Special Crate Drops being ruined by morons driving through and or camping in the green circle.

 

I remembered ruining someone else's day, in a Online Session full of French people. I never got the stupid Beer Hat, but I did keep him from getting the hat too!

 

As soon as he and his two other friends saw a Buzzard Rocket blow up one of their cars, thats the first time someone speaking a foreign language said "Oh sh*t!", and proceeded to cuss me out in both French and English (the only thing I understood from his yelling is "bitch" and the word "fa**ot" Directed at me), a second lucky Buzzard rocket killed three of them, which allowed some random player in passive mode camping nearby to snag the shattered crate contents.

 

Instantly got me a $9,000 bounty on my head XD. But I strolled right over to the nearest airfield, grabbed a Cargobob, and began airlifting and dropping cars from the impound lot into the ocean.

I have all the beer hats but after doing the second method for PS3 like 8 times now I still haven't gotten the T-shirt, it's just completely random whatever you get right? I really want that T-shirt lol

Definitely not "needed," as everytime it worked for me, spawn location was my apartment. Might help, but not "needed."

Well I guess I'll never be able to get them. I've joined over 20 lobbies now and only ever got 1 notification regarding a special crate that will drop in 3 hours. Before the 3 hour time, I got disconnected from an unknown error (that's what it said on my screen).

Is there any easier way to get them?

Repeat until you find a lobby with a special crate.

I don't believe so. I always try in Free Aim lobbies because It tends to be much less people, as opposed to, the auto lock on lobbies that are practically full always or close. I would say you have much more of a chance getting a crate in a Free Aim lobby because of the lobbies having much less people most of the time, plus, It takes some sort of skill to have someone else kill you If you are near a crate. In a auto aim lobby, all they have to do is target you and that's it, Free Aim, at least, the person has to try to aim and kill you which gives you a somewhat better chance, at least I believe.

I tried doing this earlier with my crew and we had 6 people in the lobby but only had normal crates drop. Would you not also have to take into consideration of how long a special crate drop may take? It could hours upon hours unless there is a way to increase the spawn % of them.
