Okay guys i may have found out a way to get free beer hats. Seeing that people randomly got the hat after switching their character, i wanted to try some testing and it worked! Here it is   XBOX

OK, I can confirm that this does work on PS3... Here's exactly what I did:   Starting on the character you don't want the hat for, go back to story mode (Leave GTA Online) and quit the game.   Kic

The Satellite Communications thing is nonsense. I played it twice today already, and even found a new shortcut of taking the truck down the hill to shorten the mission in half. It doesn't do anything.

Just played and Ron called me about the crates. Going to try the glitch again.

XBOX 360

 

1. Load up PLAYER 1

2. Delete PLAYER 2.

3. Create PLAYER 2 as a female.

4. Switch to PLAYER 1

5. Switch back to PLAYER 2

6. Leave GTA Online

7. Press the guide button, go to System Settings

8. Delete Independence day DLC

9. Load GTA V, on loading screen press A to go Online

10. Download Independence day DLC again.

11 Once downloaded you should be on PLAYER 2

12. Swap to Player 1. you should now have a beer hat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

Repeat again (You have to delete your player 2 and make a female character again each time you do it.)

 

After 2 to 3 days I have finally done it on xbox.

You don't have to delete anything. This forum over complicates everything.

For any of these methods, you MUST have captured at least 1 Special Crate since the launch of the game on the character you want the hats on.

Tried for about 2 hours and still no luck. When I call Ron, job is still locked. Level 68 and Xbox if that is needed.

Its not Rons Job. It is Trevors Job. I bet he has been popping up over your map the past few days and everyone is ignoring him.

 

"Satellite Communications is a mission in Grand Theft Auto Online given to the playerby Trevor Philips. It is available from 1 to 4 players." ..... Unlocks at level 60.

Trevor isn't on the map nor the in game phone. Hmm

You can't find him or call him to request missions. You have to do some Ron missions first, the Trevor will eventually give you a mission. After that, Ron will call and crates will unlock. I just did this last night.

Got the Benedict and Supa Wet so far although I've tried 2 more times and have not yet got one of the other two. Going to take a break from this and try later before I start getting annoyed x_x

I did. It was the only way it worked for me. So no it's not over complicating anything.

Personally, I think this whole thing is stupid. Rockstar advertises the beer hat and then makes a glitch the best way to get it?

 

I was excited to FINALLY get a crate drop last night … and I received a carbine rifle and 500RP. Wow … whoopadie do.

No I think you need a special crate since THIS new update then with the glitch you are duplicating the effect of getting a crate

Oh I see, it's just a duplication glitch like how the SP->MP glitch works. Thanks!

I think I can confirm this because I just did the glitch and I received a ton of RP once I went to my main character. Yet, there was nothing in my inventory. I've never captured a special crate. So, it worked, but it didn't work.

I'd say use you judgement id leave if I already see a green circle on the map that means someone has already gotten it or the crate drop is acting buggy. That's my judgement call lol

The green circle disappears when the crate drops... So, if you see a green circle, it hasn't dropped yet, meaning nobody could have gotten it already...

Lol at the people calling R* stupid for making it hard to obtain the items. That's the WHOLE point of it. It's supposed to be exclusive and hard. If you go through life cheating to get everything that requires skill/patience you already failed at life. Blaming others just makes it worse. Some people just sound like spoiled brats on here.

The green circle disappears when the crate drops... So, if you see a green circle, it hasn't dropped yet, meaning nobody could have gotten it already...

I don't think that's true I've been in 3-4 lobbies like this there was no message even saying a crate was coming.
