I actually JUST opened a crate, another of my crew started yelling through the mic

"YOU DON'T DESERVE THIS, I'M DONE WITH THIS CREW YOU'RE ALL ASSHOLES" Christ it's just a crate. Also is it just me or does the yellow hat remind anyone of a builder's hat?

So, I unlocked crates, tried method 2 for ps3, no luck. I just picked up a regular crate drop, so I'm going to give it a go with a crate being picked up, and see if it works. If not, this glitch probably requires you to have picked up a special crate at some point. We'll see...

XBOX 360

 

1. Load up PLAYER 1

2. Delete PLAYER 2.

3. Create PLAYER 2 as a female.

4. Switch to PLAYER 1

5. Switch back to PLAYER 2

6. Leave GTA Online

7. Press the guide button, go to System Settings

8. Delete Independence day DLC

9. Load GTA V, on loading screen press A to go Online

10. Download Independence day DLC again.

11 Once downloaded you should be on PLAYER 2

12. Swap to Player 1. you should now have a beer hat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

Repeat again (You have to delete your player 2 and make a female character again each time you do it.)

 

After 2 to 3 days I have finally done it on xbox.

After capturing my first Special Crate, I attempted this method to great success!

 

I actually got another hat on the 4th step!

There needs to be a new thread explaining all the requirements so people will know. Ps3 seems to have a sure method I think xbox too really

Thats how I got my first one when the glitch wasn't working after that it worked lol

Can, surely I'd say, confirm that you need to have picked up a special crate at least once before trying this. I picked up two normal crates during the last two days, just to see as a test, and It did not work. I just received the normal RP when I loaded in and that's it.

Look for a session where there isn't many players in the Blaine County area, hope you get a special crate message, get a chopper, stay more towards the Blaine County area, and it's pretty easy to grab crates that way. A lot of crates drop in the Blaine County area, at least for me. I have picked up 5 and almost had another using that method. Another thing, it could be nothing, but 2 times I got a special crate drop message right after picking up a regular crate.

What color are speacial crates?

You dont see them on the map till they drop. You should get messages written in yellow on the side such as "crate drop in xx hours" till you get "a crate has been dropped", then a small green box icon will appear randomly on the map

Yeah the circles are glitchy but it has nothing to do with Satellite Communications (by the way its more like 10 minutes than 2 minutes) Special Crate drops dont even come in green circles, you only see them appear randomly at the last second when they drop. Satellite Communications actually triggers your character to see the special crate drops, go do some research man. Ive never seen a special crate drop in my entire life, but as soon as I played Satellite Communications I got one no more than 5 minutes later and another one 30 minutes after. Seriously youre getting really annoying "Bill", go somewhere else

Well, I guess everyone can either believe the guy that originated how to get the hats on PS3, has 2 characters, both with the platinum "Crate Chaser" Award and both with the "Salvaged" award, who has gotten 4 crates since 1.15 legit and helped another player (who has NEVER played Satellite communications, by the way) get one last night...

 

Or, they can believe they guy that's been here for three days and is passing out misinformation with damn near every post.

 

I'll let them decide.

Ever since I got my first special crate, I'm 3 for 3 when doing this method.

 

If I keep getting duplicate items, do I keep going until I get an item that I don't own yet?

 

Glad to see it's working for you, I kept getting the same items until I had taken the hat off. So make sure you remove your hat when you do it.

For PS3 user you don't have to delete the updates.

Just follow the steps:

1.Turn on your PS3, go to game, go to story mode.

2.Press online->choose character->choose character A.

3.After you are online as character A, Press online->Swap character->choose character B.

4.Then character B will receive a random beer hat or the tshirt.

To repeat,

5.Leave online

6.Turn off your PS3 using PS button menu.

Repeat step 1

Notice, turn off then turn on the PS3 is a must. You cannot just go to SP then MP, this will not give you anything.[

 

Just do this^ and have a female char in slot 2 preferably. Lvl and if you have picked/unlock crate with 2nd char doesn't matter. Mine is just lvl 1.

The Satellite Communications thing is nonsense. I played it twice today already, and even found a new shortcut of taking the truck down the hill to shorten the mission in half. It doesn't do anything.
