Forget all the rest, Vice Beta Collection is the Best!

2017 Update
Celebrating 15 Years of Vice City

Over the last 15 years there has been many different Beta mods started for Vice City, although some have started with small goals, some with big, very few have actually made decent releases of content, and those that have, usually have rushed to get releases and the content is not very accurate. The goal for Vice Beta Collection is to focus on the finer details over time, instead of aiming for a full conversion mod, small aspects will be focused on and released upon completion, hopefully over time it will all contribute to becoming the Vice Beta Collection….

This topic is focusing on the Beta Vehicles of Vice City, some vehicles seem to have been designed once and then left alone with no revisions, others can be seen progressing through one or more different stages and some although never actually shown in earlier stages, had content left behind in the files which has given clues as to what they might have previously looked like.
The purpose of this topic is for discussion on changes to vehicles and to display progress made on the modification of existing vehicles into their earlier counterparts.

TripleAs previously contributed some vehicles to this mod which he had made several years ago and I fixed a few bugs on them which caused the models to crash in game, but since these models do not meet the higher standards I am trying to keep with this mod they will be remade from scratch again along the way at some point, He also made some Bikes and Boats which may/will be still included in this mod as I am happy with them and not overly inspired to work on Boats.

If you cannot find any download links for Vehicles in the 2017 Completed Update List, feel free to contact me and I will send over a ZIP of what you are after.

Beta Vehicles

-----------------------------

After watching time and time again Vice City Beta Mods start with large goals and aiming high only to fail I have decided it was about time someone actually make some decent beta content that gets released, so the main goal of Vice Beta Collection is not to make a full beta recreation but only certain content that is actually possible and also to release the mod in stages, so as to not drag out releases for months and months while waiting for different parts to be finished, when one certain aspect is finished, it is released, which will hopefully over time slowly build up a small collection of Beta content to release a kinda Beta Mini Mod.

(Boats not Pictured)

Although TripleAs did give us his Beta Vehicles to use for the mod some of them have not been done completely accurate with others missed altogether, I previously did some work on these cars for TripleAs but this time I will rebuild them myself, I already converted the Blista Compact from Manhunt and made the Esperanto based on the only screen of it in an early stage, I am currently working the Sabre with the Oceanic following that.

The Finished list is vehicles we have either by ALMOST610 or TripleAs that wont be getting any more changes as we are happy with the state they are in

or are not aware of any more changes to be made to them.

-----------------------------

Considering the Vehicles will be also released as a separate mod from the main package (lets face it some people just want the vehicles) it is probably
best to keep the two topics separate, It'll also keep the main topic free from all the chatter on vehicle changes people think I have missed or dont know about.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, I have done a little more to the front of the revised sabre, its needing a bit more texturing but most of the modeling on it is done, then it is just making the rear bumper.

As seen in one of the other Vice Beta Collection Topics, the Beta Esperanto I made.

This is an Old WIP Pic, but it is a side by side showing the difference on the front end from the Beta and the Final Model.

I'm loving that rear end!

Speaking of beta, are you planning on including the beta paintjob for the freeway? I heard it was somewhere in VC's files but all I heard on it were rumors.

TripleAs already has the Freeway done, but I'll see if his model is any different to the one in the Greasy Chopper as then I might bring the Greasy Chopper model back.

(The top post says "Bikes and Boats not Pictured" which is why you don't see it up there)

I'm also not happy with TripleAs's Greenwood so that is on my rebuild list, it also looks like in the Beta Shots that it does not have the orange lights below the headlights so Ill need to edit those out too.

The Freeway inside the Greasy Chopper is crazy low poly and boxy. I think you'd be good with TripleAS' Freeway.

Yeah TripleAs looks to have gotten the textures and put them on the regular model which appears to be no different to the final VC one, even apart from that being low poly there is no structural differences to the final model.

Edit: WHOA!!!

Just got some more shots of the Beta Esperanto, minor revision now expected for the rear end, its has a more VCS type back on it. (no light running along boot lid)

There is also no divide in the tail lights and they are possibly a red and orange combination, Im not sure, it kinda looks it.

It's one strange combination. Looking at that picture above, it looks like the orange light is over the red light on the driver's side and on the passenger side, the red light is over the orange light. The Esperanto in VCS looks like it's got a divider but two red lights

I think the beta one looks a bit better than the final version of it.

I was considering ripping parts from it if there was different ones to the final model, but apart from being low poly there is no real model difference to the final, so TripleAs's model will do us fine.

I will be putting files up on GTA Garage for Download so you don't have to wait for the next version of the Vice Beta Collection, or for a bunch of vehicles to be completed first.

I've begun on the next Vehicle, the Oceanic is getting a make over now, TripleAs's model only changed the Grill, Which I have redone to properly look like the Beta car, I've now started on the Bel-Air style Rear Door then I still have to chop the roof and bring its height down a little.

This vehicle is not as small a project as you may think, there is more work on this than the Sabre which may surprise some. But I have a keen eye for the smaller details so noticed alot more needs changing on this vehicle than other would have seen looking at Beta Pics.

The Oceanic's looking groovy! What's up with the rear door, though? It looks like some angry angry man took a bat and swung into it. It looks nice, though!

The rear door is a work in progress.

As can be best seen in the image below, the door has a Bel-Air like Dip in it, it also is a good shot showing the lower roof.

A nice picture from my Person Collection of Beta Shots, Click on it and there is a nice 1800x1200px image of it, be prepared for a 5MB File.

I've got plenty to keep me busy modeling for a long while on these Beta Mods, but more mapping references would be good so if anyone thinks they have unique shots or ones not published around the internet, a PM on it would be nice.

ALMOST,where did u get all these beta shots?

Looking around and doing as much research as possible before starting the Beta Collection Mod. Also leaving no stone unturned. I've picked out small details on Cars other people have never noticed.

Another Unknown Example, the Beta Bobcat.

beta-bobcat.png

I think the Taillights are the same but it is clear the Badge and Bobcat logo were swapped around, cant say I've noticed any other differences on it.
