[WIP|IV] Liberty State

I hope you don't expect all OpenIV modding features in first month, right?

Nope, infact i wish you'd take your time with all that GTA V modding support on PC because it's hard to breathe when there are constantly updates coming! :D

Just curious, do you know when you are going to start turning the roadworks into complete roads again? I've been looking forever to see if anyone else has done exactly that. I am really surprised that no one except you, and that other person who wanted to on the other thread, has done that.

After i do some interiors i'll do that again :) Perhaps even better than last time!

OK :D Well I can't wait to use everything that you create as it will be awesome!! Is there any chance when you edit the paths for it you could edit the edited paths img for Clockwork Mountain too? I guess you'll need permission first for that that that'll be really nice if you can as it's either empty patches of road where the roadworks all used to be or an empty Clockwork Mountain :L

(I sure am going a bit crazy with my "that"s xd)

I worked out how to get the path nods opened in 3DSMax and I see the familiar pattern that they open in but then I have no clue how to edit them, and I managed to get the LC map template up but then that only shows a template of LC, not any other map I have installed. How are you supposed to know where to put the car paths etc if you don't have any template of the map? I am guessing you somehow have to open the map you've modded/created completely onto 3DSMax so you can see where to direct the traffic etc?

P.s: about everything that I said the other day about when do this for GTA V, something like clockwork mount I really would love to also see on that map idea I came up with when we do this on GTA V :p Although yea I know, just work on GTA IV and I guess when it does come to the time to do GTA V then can do it so so so much better than ever before :)

Clockwork mount paths work? No, despite it being decent i have no interest in that map mod.

To direct the traffic where to drive on new maps, it's best to get collisions imported in 3ds Max(.OBN files), that's what i'd do in your place... but if you're interested in changing the default GIMS LC map template(on a plane texture placed on a 6000x6000 map grid) you can do that by navigating to your GIMS_IV folder on this usual address: C:\Users\-yourname-\AppData\Roaming\GIMS_IV and when there you should see the modules subfolder where you will find 9 JPG images(map_1 to map_9) that when connected together create a complete map template texture that you see in 3ds Max.

Y'know, i wish we could stop planning for GTA V until it's out on PC... it's not even had a real announcement date announced, so everything is possible, i even wouldn't be so surprised if a delay to 2015 occurred!

I really dislike this form of announcement for games(season, or year quartal format), games announced in such a way nearly always end up being delayed...

Anyway, i hope that answers all of your current questions, here's a few new interior screens, i'd say it's now complete more or less, just a bit of tweaking remains to do and tidying up the objects to avoid having a huge in-game mess and then finally converting into GTA file formats(putting it into the game) :

I don't know how early Open IV started for IV, but I think it was when the PC version released, not the console.

I have started to work on OpenIV at the day GTAIV was released on consoles.

I see. But you still had more time for V because it is taking longer for V to reach PC than it took IV. But you never know. Hopefully not, but there is a chance that there are more major differences in the PC/NG version from the last gen version compared to thee past as the game is a lot more heavily updated. It is the biggest graphical overhaul that any GTA game has seen. I bet there is more shaders, and hard coded data. I also think (and hope) that the game supports EIV mapping. I bet that will be an entirely new file format.

Anyways, nice work GTARandom. Hope we can rob them, shoplift, and buy stuff like in GTA V. Also, I hope that you do the Grand Easton Terminal interior (Grand Central Station). That is one building that I wished had an interior out of all the GTA series. That is even more than the airports. I remember in GTA CTW, you could see into the terminals at the airport.

Damn, one nice looking store you got!

That is absolutely amazing! Just imagine how much more lively Liberty City will be with all these interiors and all those completed roadworks. It'll be amazing! Sure would love it if someone turned that big building site in Fishmarket that you GTARandom suggested would be the ideal location Rockstar puts their version of the WTC. It would be amazing if that gets turned into the sight of the new WTC :) and then completing that overpass bridge in Bohan. Will be so much work but it'll just be amazing having everything in Liberty City develop :D

I done my research and managed to do a beaitiful thing.... make a mlo interior with a real-time reflection inside it!

The interior is still in a work in progress state... i have to fix the door placement and add some lights

Also guys, if anyone knows something interesting about the topic i linked you here further in this post, please post a reply there or PM me here on the Forums!

In my opinion, IV/EFLC would be fully complete with those shadows done properly... they are both great games despite being so poorly optimized for PC

Wow. Awesome interior :)

It looks great. But are you able to adjust the reflection? I noticed that the shelves in the reflection are not meeting up with the actual shelves. Also when you add lights, will it make the lighting in the interior more natural, and less plain? The lighting in the render looks a lot better to me than it does ingame.

Yes, i can adjust the reflections - they're not leveled correctly because i wanted to show real-time reflections from outside as well, it would be harder to show if it was leveled with the floor exactly

Lighting will make it less plain, no doubt about that, but what could also affect its appearance significantly will be the room timecycle that i'll use, i can change it to any other interior room timecyc in GTA IV/EFLC and even edit the timecyc myself(timecyclemodifiers).

I agree that the lighting looks way too plain in the pictures i shown today.

would love to see 24/7 added to gta iv, it was sorely missed by me.

There were seven 24/7's in GTAIV...

without the interiors though they're pretty much just boxes with the name written on them, I never even noticed them playing IV

By the way, IV shaders really suck IMHO, especially alpha shaders because it involved so much work to get this to work and look like this and it STILL isn't fully finished yet!

P.s. these shadows on the floor inside the interior at night are baked, not actual dynamic shadows rendered by the engine...

Thumbs up for you :D:D:D

A nice addition to the city, looks very Rockstar style.

And what is with the gas stations in LC ? ;)

Gas stations' interior? Maybe i'll make one if i think of a fancy minigame to put in there!

How do you do to open images ingame like this:

[bunch of images]

I use the camControl mod and just alt+printscreen the images!

News from this mod :)

yea :D:D

Hopefully soon, there have been some issues finalizing the MLO for the store interior and that is what held me back from working on any more content.

How about making an interior for Jerkov's?

You can hide Jerkov's face (You know, the one from gta2), as an easter egg, in one of the paintings.

Also, if I may ask, what tool do you use for mapping (Do you use a certain tool or you just edit the IPL?)

This?

Yeah, cool, i can't say whether i'll make this interior or not at this time but it's good that you guys are giving me some suggestions :^:

By the way i'm considering removing icenhancer from my game while working on this mod... i think it ruins all the interior colours...

The fact that Jerkov's is on the second story and it might have a downstairs part reminds me of that saint marks bistro from SA
