I was just saying the lobby, waiting room, and the tunnel to the Easten Train Station interior that is already in the game. I'll draw up a diagram when I get a chance. Anyways I have an important question and that is if the original cityscape version of the surrounding countrysides will be used in next releases, or as you promised you will start modelling from scratch. Now why I am asking all this ? What I want to do is try to remake the space in north-west Alderney which was found on the beta map. We still dont know what it actually was supposed to stand for, but most people agree it was either a harbour or a small countryside. But because we prefer driving on countryside roads, I pick the countryside. So if you dont have any problem with this (we allready talked together about these things before) then I could join you and we could form a team this time. Im really into continuing on the map, which I didnt manage to complete even from 10 %, because I simply lost interest and had no time either. EncryptedReality Posted October 20, 2014 Author Share Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) I'd probably want to stick to my principles and not use the old maps at all for the final version of the map expansion into the countryside and etc. starting fresh by modeling from scratch is a lot better idea imo because by the time i'd fix up Cityscape unoptiimized maps i could've done a proper(but probably smaller) map from scratch and that's what i'm trying to tell you here. I personally preffer quality over quantity As for your mention of joining up to form a team with me on this mod, my response is that i got no problem with that as long as you aren't a total noob at all this development thing(which i already know you're probably not) Also, if you're wondering why there were no updates recently, well i didn't have a lot of time and i still don't because i'm still and was doing v-ray renderings of some of my older projects that i'd want to use for my art portfolio! If you remember my old topic where I was working on the Upstate Liberty extension, Im bumping all that work and will continue where I stopped my development - A small town based on Newburgh. I choose that first, because in fact its the hardest and the most time consuming part of this project. So after I complete that, the development will go faster and thats just my style of working. Mod isn't dead and i still plan to work on this until the end but like i said in my last post here, my time/focus is presently devoted to vray rendering and getting the hotel room from an old project scene images ready to upload to my art portfolio. After these are done, i plan to move on to Grand Central/East station development and first get it in-game and later updated for vray rendering "standards" so that i can use that for my portfolio as well... There's a chance i do the same for the airport and other stuff i do for this mod, unless ofcourse the interiors are consisted of Rockstar's/someone else's work. I don't need that in my portfolio and i want the content in my portfolio as much mine as it is possible. He already has the III era ones done. He has been changing the models to optimize the map a little better. I remember when I first played SOL back when I first discovered it back in 2007. It lagged so bad. But then again the PC I was using wasn't the greatest at the time. The part that will be a lot is the fact that he is redoing the maps and changing things for map version 6. As far as adding LC to V, to get LC in V should be easy once Open IV is advanced enough seeing as Open IV is one tool for all the Rage games. For example it will understand IV shader info as well as V shader info. So LC in V should be easier to have proper lighting and shaders through out. This one really picks my peas. the term HD is screen resolution. not model or texture related.. The term HD refers to the screen resolution only whether it be 720p/ those cheap HD Ready TVs at 800p, 2K (1080p) or 4K UHD (2160p) and 8K UHD (4320p) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2K_resolutionlook it up.. The texture quality can differ between R games, GTAIV textures was better then GTAIII or VC. but there not as good as other next gen games out there. However SA textures are better then GTA V low resolution crappy textures and if the Xb360/ps3 version of GTAV was ported to the VC engine with all the limits hacked the map would run well and better then Rage. SOL; Now. there are 2 versions of SOL as you know. and I do not want to be stuck in the 2002 era of computer modelling as the Renderware engine can do so much more then people think, the reason GTAIII/VC was modelled for how it is was because of FPS performance on mid range hardware of the time. Rockstar upped hardware requirements for SA and more so for Rage but in time better maps can be made for that engine also and this is why I've decided to put more work into the map adding a higher polygon count. Trilogy will always have the original models and however I might fix the odd Rockstar map bugs. this may only be on VC and SA. it's not worth dragging this version out. The Infusions version is about remodelling everything for the SA and Rage engines pretty much from scratch, it's about keeping with the times as interest in this project has gone since half the modding community is working on Rage. So I have to keep things interesting and alive and this is why I split the project tree into 2 projects. Trilogy > VC engine > SA engine. I have one more update for this version before it's ported to SA. Infusions > VC engine > I might leap the SA engine for now > Rage Engine. It might be easier to port backwards from Rage to SA because we will have less map bugs. then trying to put from VC to SA where i've had a ton of bugs. Early test screens for Rage:SOL Infusions. Obviously he has some experience with RAGE modding and he has expressed numerous times that he wants to release SOL on GTA IV... Though I think it would look better if the ticket booths and the pillars ran the length of the room and the stairs were the width, like the real Grand Central.
