So, i made a windows form application, worked perfect on my pc, tested it on my laptop, and it would not open... Some other people had the same problem, and some had not. Anyone an idea what the problem could be?

Maro, until we see his code or he actually explains what he has done we are both just guessing. He gave neither of us enough information to help him. ;)

Back from holidays. :)

You don't try to "try and catch" 'check if directory exists' that's your error.

You set default folder but you don't check it, if it exists(GetFiles) ?

When you messing with files, you should ALWAYS use Directory.Exists(Thanks to @LordofTheBongs) "try and catch"

Regards,

Paul.

Yes for me also, because I use retail version and he is not checking if it's retail or it's steam, so yea I told him he should check if files exists(try catch) :)

Thanks to @LordOfTheBongs do Directory.Exists

@Rugz007

Please stay on topic.

it is a good idea to use a form load event instead of adding code to the constructor of the form so u make sure the form completes initialization before doing anything but it doesnt matter much i guess if u know what ur doing

@Leftas

how you made this

try and catch

the line.

Regards,

Maro

Look at the comment options

also i want to suggest, when getting files, u should check for the following extensions...

.net

.dll

.cs

.vb

;)

oh btw... here i edited your click event for opening the settings form, so people cant spam opening multiple forms...

        private void ModManager_Settings_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)        {            foreach (Form form in Application.OpenForms)            {                if (form is Settings)                {                    form.Activate();                    return;                }            }             Form Settings = new Settings();            Settings.Show();        }

Haha did not even know this was possible, thanks :)!

##EDIT I found the problem, i used the location of GTA IV before checking if it existed, and i used regions to hide it. Thanks for all the help!

Yea I said that you not checking if that folder exists ;)

@Maro

OH MY GOD, really he gave you a SOURCE CODE, you just need to edit few lines and then you got working same app.

Please don't make joke of my sign :)

Best Regards,

Paul.

I took a look at it, the main issue is "System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException", I changed where the game was installed (because I instealled steam elsewhere, and I only got EFLC installed)

Now it is searching for a folder named disabledscripts inside EFLC, and since that folder dont exist, the program crashes...

When I manually made the folder "disabledscripts" I got the program running, asking for the installation directory.

So yeah, LordOfTheBongs already gave you the solution... :p

Other than that, good job, it did detect scripthookdotnet.dll ;) ( which was my only .dll file in my scripts folder )

Yeah, that is also fixed :) now it will create that directory if it does not exist. Thanks!

@Maro i know you are a beginner, but that you wrote your own name wrong in you profile picture. That made me cry

It's not like he has to compile it manually, the compiler does that all you have to do is press a button.
