Was a bit peeved when the 'Dinka Jester' turned out not to be the GTA:SA Supra-inspired Jester - not a fan of the modern NSX, m'self.

Definitely need cars based on any of the the following at some point:

Honda Civic (5th-gen, ideally)

Honda S2000

Honda (Acura) NSX

Acura Integra

Toyota Supra

Toyota Celica (4th-6th-gen models)

Toyota MR2

Nissan Fairlady Z
Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32/33/34)

Nissan Maxima

Nissan Silvia

Mazda RX-7
Mazda MX-5

Granted, the Stratum is basically a custom R32 wagon, and the hood/lights/intake of the Banshee are taken from a Veilside RX-7 (...and grafted on to a Dodge Viper!), but some more 'overt' JDM pastiches (like the Warrener, Futo, Elegy RH8, etc.) would be awesome.

...ok - just spent way too long rifling through the GTA Wiki, but I've dug up all the existing JDM homages from previous GTAs, to see if there are any decent candidates - turns out there's plenty, all of which could easily be added to GTAV/O.

First up, from GTA IV, the Dinka Hakumai (Honda Prelude):

The Dinka Blista Compact (Honda CR-X):

The Annis Pinnacle (Nissan Teana J31):

...and the Dinka Chavos (Honda Accord, crossed with the Nissan 200SX S14):

In addition, there's all the tuners from San Andreas, many of which could be updated for GTAV/O. Granted, the Stratum (originally a Honda Accord wagon in GTA:SA) and the Sultan (a Subaru Impreza in SA) are present in updated/modified versions, but there's still the following:


The [Dinka] Flash (4th-gen Honda Civic hatchback):




The [Annis] Elegy (Nissan Skyline - mix of the R31, R32 and R34 models) - would make for a good counterpart to the Elegy RH8:




...and my personal favourite, the Jester (Toyota Supra) - could easily be called something like the 'Dinka Joker' or 'Dinka Harlequin' to get around the fact there's already a 'Dinka Jester' in-game:




Soooo many good cars, right there - and that's still barely scratching the surface of all the cars that could be added. Here's hoping that something like the above gets added to a future DLC update - perhaps with some cool unique customisation options, like vinyl decals or neon underglow...

Maybe I'm wrong, but British people seem to have a real hate-on for Nissan, maybe it's because they use such a sissy sounding pronunciation of it there, lol, but I see it on Top Gear a lot, Nissan hate.

 

Anyway, I hope they include some good JDM cars too, especially the 370Z. The Penumbra is so close, and the Ruiner is almost a Z31 300ZX, but they're both slightly off and in a way even more disappointing to me because of it. I'd really like to have a Z31 in the game because I owned one in real life and I loved it.

It would be killer to have one in game, but like you said the Ruiner is close but not close enough. I managed to model my Ruiner after the Mazda RX-7 (FC) Savanna.

I added custom window tint because I feel it gives the car a more Japanese vibe.

 

 

But yeah, one of the few times I've seen Jeremy Clarkson act positively towards a Nissan was when he reviewed the GTR, and even then it hurt his neck from its insane turning capabilities.

No I didn't own that one! I didn't mean to imply that that was my specific Z, I wish. Mine was more of a beater I bought for $4000. Drove like new but didn't look so clean. Nice that you've experienced how cool that car was first hand. No I only included a picture because most people are only familiar with the Z32 these days; many don't know that in addition to the 240Z, 260Z, 280ZX, 350Z and 370Z there were two different 300ZXs.

You're right, some people around here my area especially turn their noses up at Nissan.. Retards.

 

I won't be apart of that statistic though as I know just how respected Nissan are thoughout the years. A friend of mine owned an original R32, then purchased a GTR Nizmo specced from Japan.

 

I've never seen break discs as chunky as those man, let me tell you lol he said each corner costs 4.3k each and that's not including pads. Amazing cars.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing the Fairlady Z or a Datsun.

Nissan Pulsar (Flash from SA reminds me of it)

Toyota Corolla (90's model, G6 hatch? lol)

And so much more.....

 

Oh, and stickers should be an option. JDM stickers, novelty stickers, etc.

Where you get the idea of Nissan hate from I do not know, there are tonnes of great Nissans in the UK & Europe which are idolised by people. Dont forget motorsport is almost a religion in Europe & is far more prevalent here than it is anywhere else in the world.

I would love this as much as the next motor enthusiast, but do we really want a hybrid gta version of some of our most beloved cars? I say go to forza or grand Turismo for all that (nfs and horizon players can f*ck off now). I don't mind sight resemblances but as a car nut and life time Nissan lover I don't want a half s13 half del sol or some crap.

Btw, we already have a r32. It's a wagon and they made it feel like a paddle boat.

He loved the GTR.... hated the z33 though. My wife owned one and to be honest I agreed with him. It's a fun car but exhausting when you just want to drive home after a long day. She now owns a 04 WRX. My old 91 z32 however... she was a beast.

The idea of a race is to outrun your opponent, so I guess all racers are scrubs. To rephrase what I said, there are always little kids who have futo's and sultan's that think they're untouchable. I'm sorry but adding an oil cooler, a huge wing, and a body kit does not make your car fast.

 

Don't even get me started on the GTR either, that thing is an overrated computer on wheels that has a fanbase consisting of kids/teens who don't even have a license.

First off, I am a car guy. I drive an 05 Mustang V6 so I am biased towards American RWD cars but I think it's pretty messed up to generalize a homogenious group of people who drive certain cars. Just because I like a certain type of car does not mean I should hold negative generalizations about others. There are ricers and wannabe cars but there are also true performance cars that garner lots of respect. The GTR might be overrated by some, but some of the haters have overlooked its credentials as a performance car. It's funny how 98% of those on both sides have never even driven the car!

 

Sure, I see people in Civics and Integras pull up to me to race all the time! It gets annoying, but I also have seem jerks in pickup trucks and f-bodies pull up and do dumb things. And don't get me started with BMW drivers, they might be the worse! There's an idiot in every crowd and it certainly doesn't mean that just because some dumb ass tried to do something. that those cars must indeed suck and are overrated for whatever reason that you can think of just to justify your argument.

 

If we were to stereotype a whole group of drivers based on the actions of some, I will say that for every dumb kid with a fart can and 2 foot tall wingt on his Integra puffing his chest, there's also a tough guy in 1988 Camaro V6 with 22' IROC wheels and a 140HP V6 engine thinking that he's the fastest car on the block.These idiots make all of us look bad, ultimately.
