Tenacious_Dude
This thread is for people who wanna argue ps2 and pc. There is no difference between the ps2 and pc. They're exactly the same. All you stupid fuggin retards talkin about slow downs and how the pc is 90 hp and the ps2 is only 30 hp or whatever the hell frame rate means in nerd language...who cares? Eighter my ps2 is better than yours or yours just sucks and mine is normal...there are NO slow-downs on mine. I even tried to get it to slow down but it wouldn't i had the tank cheat on four times, had the all weapons 2 cheat on and used the rocket launcher to blow up everything in sight. and i was just in front of the mall so there was cops and PIGs and gang members shooting each other. no slowdowns AT ALL. The graphics aren't better and even if they were who cares. all you fuggin nerds who are worried if there is like one pixel in the guys shoes out of place you wait 6 months for the pc version. and the people who buy the ps2 version AND the pc version - WHAT THE f*ck IS WRONG WITH YOU! why waste your money buying the exact same game. if your australian and wait for the pc version to get prostitutes, thats ok but if u buy both the pc version and the ps2 version then ur a nerd with no life. australians, if you wanna p[lay it before u get the pc version, rent it. if you've got nothing better to spend your money on other than buying a thousand games for a thousand systems then i pity you. thats my 2 and a half cents. what about u guys? wilzo9
the difference is this: PC's have bigger "controllers" (keyboards) so it's harder to get around. And also there are several thousand different PC's, so it's not gonna work on all of them. Me mates got it on PC. and itz REAL slow. But it depends on wot computer u got. PS2 iz always the same model. NO probs...

If u got the $$$ PC is probibly better graphics(the mod's are cool but not worth it to get a supercomputer) But overall.. urban
okay ps2 retards i have a ps2 ...i like it for 2 reasons ...controller and games THATS IT the console its self f*cking sux ...50hz frame rate ....4 hours in front of it will decrease your eye sight and this is a fact ....pc frame rate is 75 hz ...which is ALOT closer to the almost seemless eye view ....if you look at a tv screen you can see the refresh rate ....and how slow it is ...if you look at your monitor you will see it f*cking fly ....this is ALOT better for your eyes and you can sit infront of a pc ALL DAY and not hurt your eye or water .... second point you can get a ps2 controller hooked up to your pc via a little £7.99 uk adapter which uses a usb thingy ....therefore controls aint a problem heres a link to it if u want it http://www.playserver1.com/play247....=109247 its very handy thirdly you can have a mp3 player ...for when you just cant stand the music any more ....its handy but i agree not essential ...the only good thing about a ps2 is that its CHEAP AND HAS EXCLUSIVE GAME RELEASES .... so shut the f*ck up and use your pc when vice city gets released

innitman2
People, both platforms have different advantages and disadvantages, for a start I think the PS2 is better in games on the Gta series than the Pc, whereas the pc is better for like stradegy games with a mouse and that, I like both platforms, but the good thing about the PS2 is that you dont have to install games and you know they will most likely work on every console other than worrying that your pc doesnt meet the requirements, just like I want C & C Generals when it comes out but my pc is too slow i think
illspirit
@Tenacious_Dude- What is the big problem with some people liking the PC versions better? Now, I can't speak for everyone, but in an attempt to ease your curiosity as to 'what the f*ck is wrong' with us, please allow me to explain my reson for preferring the PC: Mods- New cars, new skins, new missions, new cities. Fun to make, fun to play with. Higher resolution- Yea, I know graphics aren't that big a deal really. But when a car or ped 3 blocks away has the same ammount of detail as one that's right in front of you on the PS2, it not only removes some of the guesswork as to what it is, but it adds to the level of 'realness', and, well, the whole experience in general. Mouse aiming the sniper rifle- 'Nuff said. Mods- Oh, wait, did I say that one already. Well, it deserves a second mention... *cough*900MPH Mananas*cough* More RAM + more CPU power- Nope, not gonna bore you with nerdy math or anything. Let's just say that the extra 'oomph' lets you have more cars, peds, cops, and other all-around action on-screen at any given time. Fun stuff. Anyway, unlike pretty much every other PC player, I will admit that I do like the contols on the PS2 better, at least for the cars. I know there are converters and whatnot that let you use a PS2 controller on a PC, butthey're still not as sensitive and well-tuned, and you lose those lovely analog button functions for the accelerator. And yes, not having to install anything is good too. Now can we all please keep the flames to a minimum? Thanks.
ADAMOU166
Wot a f*ckin dickhead. PC is Better then PS2 by miles. Reason? Because PCs are a hundred times more powerful, if you had the money to own a powerful PC u would know. You can ask Sony if they could ever make a console that could compete with a PC and they would tell you its not possible. PCs get better everyday, Playstations get better every 6 years. foreverstoned
To add my two pennies worth to this, I personally use whichever system best suits my needs or wants, I have a PC by default anyway (web surfing, work stuff and other useful apps that a PC has) and given that, from a stricly hardware point of view, my PC outguns all the consoles, by default I will normally buy PC games. However the consoles do have one advantage over PC's, they connect to your TV so they tend to be more social in their gameplay (or at least it's easier to watch/rotate play on single player games), plus they also have exclusive games. So I also own a console, although I do have my second PC in the lounge as well! Which console I choose is decided by the games available, if it turns out that all three current consoles have games I want to play then I would buy all three (not currently the case, I see no reason yet to get X-box or GC) But currently everything I want to play is on PS2 or PC. I guess my point is that this arguement is pointless if you talk about the hardware only, as this can easily be determined by various benchmarking tests. So the only thing to discuss is which system is better for each person, as each system has it's pro's and con's.

Jaxen
The platform gap is a problem because different 3d cards, sound cards and processers mix things up. For PS2 or any console you have a predefined set of restrictions and stats you have to design for. PS2 has its advantages but consoles: only have a limited amount of 'game' you can have, limited by how much can be fitted onto one disk. Diskchanges on a fast paced game like GTA's would f*** the gameplay up so bad. Consoles also are limited in detail by their predefined stats, if you want an upgraded system, get a PS3. Consoles however, are dedicated for games, have specialised input devices, are more social and accessible and plug into your TV. PC is not dedicated so has compatibility problems, it can be slower on less compatible systems (voodoo cards - Yeuch, don't seem to work well with many games). However they can also hugely outperform the consoles, shown by the new features and improved graphics included in the PC version. The PC has the mouse and keyboard which are so versatile and can control ANYTHING! They have (easily accessible) internet, enabling multiplayer with more than 2-4(/8 with a PS multitap) players. Decisively however: They allow us to access GTAforums.com
brianf408
Ok ok ok. PS2 has no lag, I don't know what you guys are talking about but mine has never had lag of any sort no matter what was going on. My friend has the PC version of GTA 3 and yes the graphics do look better...if you have a high-end computer. His is brand new and still can't run the highest levels. I didn't like the amount of reflection on the cars though, there was so much on some that you couldn't even tell what color they were. PS2 is a system where you spend $200 and can play any game for it, no install, no requirements. PC's you have to update every couple months to keep up with the latest stuff, and it gets expensive! Yes the advantages of downloads and mods is pretty cool, but I would still rather have the game on PS2. Deals with controllers is all personal preference, but you guys getting into refresh rates and all that...I'm not going to buy a game bc my PC's refresh rate is healthier or whatever, I'm not going to be playing it enough to make a difference. So yeah, there's advantages and disadvantages to both, and it's all a matter of personal opinion and preference so don't go flaming everyone about which one you think is better. Tenacious_Dude
and installing games takes up space on your computer. and putting new levels/cars etc will take up even more space. getting gta1 gta2 gta3 and gta vice all with new cars and islands and stuff would take up most of your space in no time, then your computer will get slow and the games would be pretty much useless. i usually download songs/movies off the internet and that takes up a lot of space. b4 i started doing that i bought the sims and it wasn't slow or anything but after i dl songs etc it was really slow and sh*ty. and i only used up abot 50 to 100 mb. jackass522
ok, im gonna post again after not having visited this place for a long long time. ok, first of all, if u have a decent computer, having gta1,2,3,vice city, all the mods u want, all the mp3s u want, and the sims on ur comp, it really wont slow it down at all. i just got a really nice computer for christmas, that has around 70 gigs of space. i have gta3, battlefield 1942, mohaa, counterstrike, and morrowind all installed on my computer, and it runs everything like a dream. And i know every1 doesnt have that much space, but even if u have 10 gigs, which most computers have, u should be fine having all of this installed. now back to the issue at hand, i just wanna express my opinion on the subject. First of all, im sick of all of u ps2 fanboys that think a ps2 is better than a pc (yes, im talkin to u tenacious). WRONG!!! and u can say its better for games, WRONG AGAIN!!! it may have better games, but a ps2 will never be superior to a pc in anything, because all it is, is a gaming computer. a ps2 is even called a "computer entertainment system." this means that a computer can do everything a ps2 can do and more. im not saying that a ps2 is a waste of money. i wouldnt mind having one at all (mainly cuz i want lotr2, cuz the cancelled the pc version, the bastards). it is a good deal for some1 who doesnt know anything about a computer. its a helluvalot easier to use than a comp, ill tell u that! But lemme assess the value if u do know enuff about a computer to use one. Ok, right now u can get a good comp for about $1500, thatll play any game on the market right now. U can get a ps2 for $299, or $199, cant remember which. now heres where the comp really shows its worth. now in 2 years, the ps3 will probably be out, theres another $300 that u have to spend for it, an up-to-date computer lasts about 3-4 years. ok, so every 2 years u have to spend $400 for a new playstation, while every 3-4 years u have to spend about $200 on a new video card and more ram. that should hold u for a while. Another plus for the pc is the high replay value thanks to MULTIPLAYER. i know ps2 is comin out with multiplayer, but itll never be as good, itll be harder to find servers, u cant chat w/o a keyboard. and first-person-shooters blow without a mouse. i still play rainbow 6 and i bought that about a year and a half ago. its so much more fun to play against actual people with real intelligence (well, at least most of them), than against an AI that becomes predictable quickly. and then there is everything else u can do on a computer. write reports, surf the internet, chat, and all the jobs that u can get a head start on, when u take a few online courses. and if ur gonna flame me tenacious for being a nerd, then go right ahead, and hell, u may be right. but i think ur just jealous. i know alot about c++ and visual basic by just teaching myself, taking courses online. so when i take the courses in college, ill have a head start, then ill go work for ibm or some gaming company, and be set for life, doing a job I LIKE. i know that not every1 has the same passion for computers that i have, and thats fine. but do i flame u because u have a different goal in life? no. so try to show a little more respect ok?
