Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

People who say IV's praised don't understood how much it's shat on literally anywhere else.

And this is partly why I feel they should have split the series. I know it wouldn't have been good for R* but I think it would have been better for the fans. Now that the change has been made, and the inclusion of other elements I'll leave unsaid, I don't think the fan base will ever be fully behind the series as in the past.

 

 

I don't think all SA fans love V, either. IE: Gang Life Of Los Santos thread.

The reason i dislike so much CJ is because of that, the gameplay is above the story, which makes the first attempt of a human and believable protagonist in the series fall directly on his face.

 

3. So many praise IV, as if it is some untouchable deity, where as in many other people's favorite, they can still point out the flaws. No GTA game is perfect but it appears so many refuse to see any flaws in GTA IV. It blows my mind.

I don't think is perfect, the gameplay needs to be refined and it lacks mission variety, but i can replay the storymode many times and that's all that matters.

I have certain griefs with the game, but the positive things outweight the negatives, at least for me.

I think IV and SA have something in common. They try to showcase the world around them through the story. SA doesn't do this correctly because of the ridiculous storyline.

Let it be, instead of flaming each and everyone of us, try to participate with the following topic instead. That's why the topic is called " Reasons why IV is better than V lounge". To answer your first question, yes, well at least for a lot of people (myself included). Let's face it, GTA was never really known for it's grand stories. Are there good stories? Yes, but that wasn't the idea behind GTA. GTA was about giving you the freedom to do what you want and giving you plenty of tools to do it. There are plenty of other games that have stories 100 times better than any GTA, because that's what there emphasis is/was.

 

I appreciate that R* tried to do something different with IV, and beyond, but I don't think it fits the GTA world. Of course I'm not the creator and just a long-time fan that's become quite disappointed in what used to be my favorite series.

@Canadian Baddass You are correct. Many SanAn fans don't like V either because it tries to walk the line between IV and V. And, though it has more variety than IV, it still feels stripped down compared to past GTAs.

But you don't get how he's needed to combat against just 100% biased fanboyism. At least he makes you think about things from a different perspective.

I do respect him for what is worth, but if you decided to look at his previous posts, he usually decides to flame us for no particular reason, things are going so well until he shows up. I can still remember him posting a thread about a debate on car shine between IV and V. Sure, there are many biased people here including myself and I do fanboy over certain things, but with him causing so much time going off topic just do often get overboard sometimes. Each to their own opinion I guess?

 

 

That thread wasn't out of the blue, that was because RardLife said that real life cars just aren't very shiny and therefore V's cars are unrealistic (because they're shiny), which is hilariously untrue. I couldn't let that one go, sorry.

 

well there is the Things You Actually Dislike About IV thread. A lot of IV fans giving their gripes, big and small. Fan groups don't actively say bad things about their favorite thing.

 

And a good number of those posts in that thread go something like this:

 

"Well IV had some less than perfect car models... BUT THEY'RE WAY BETTER THAN THE BULLsh*t IN THAT CASH GRABBING POS GTA V".

 

Then, on the V forum, you have a post about things you liked in GTA V, and the VERY FIRST f*cking post in that thread was something to the effect of "Nah let's talk about the things they f*cked up bro". Then you get OG and several others flooding those threads that are meant to be good about V, trashing the game with reckless abandon. Not even PRETENDING to want to have a civil discussion of WHY some things are bad, but fully and apparently just relentlessly bashing the game and its fans.

 

I get fed up with people here sometimes and may insult them from time to time, but for the most part I've offered points that can be discussed.

Um, no. If you notice, the video is unlisted so only those with the link can see it. If I were promoting it, it wouldn't be unlisted now, would it? I don't do GTA videos, I do racing videos. I make GTA videos once in a while just for fun, but they're always unlisted because that's not what my channel is about. I made this video to poke fun of GTA V, and I thought you would appreciate it. Get off my ass.

 

And you should probably watch the video before you think you know wtf you're talking about. I guarantee you don't know what it is. It's partial mocking of the GTA tubers, partial mocking of GTA V. Jerk.

I've already linked it once, but as Donut said there's a thread just below where people discuss the things they don't like about GTA IV where many regular GTA IV fans still post. Though to be honest I felt many SA fans from 2008/2009 didn't accept its flaws either.

 

Personally speaking my two biggest gripes with GTA IV have always been the lack of things to buy and customising. I was never too bothered about there being no countryside, planes etc, but those two are what stick out to me. GTA IV's a great game, but I don't think it's perfect.

It is sad how once a game that sparked interesting discussions about story, characters, dialogue, setting, atmosphere and mysterious easter eggs turned into a generic online game with pointless DLCs that are nothing more than vehicles and clothes to feed the in-game's fake economy so that more online-obsessed players and youtubers keep buying for that shiny-looking vehicle or that hipster dress. A very valid and accurate statement I thought. The focus on the story and actual single player experience continues to thrive for GTA IV, whereas it has dwindled off to a major extent for V. This has been supported by Rockstar themselves, who evidently care a lot more about the online portion.

I tend to agree with this. IV is in no way perfect, but it absolutely craps all over V. This topic is why IV is better than V, not why IV is better than everything else in the universe.

IV is one of the best games of past generation and I have never been excited to still play a game that is 7 years old. It is just a brilliant, and fantastic game.

The graphics look ok, it plays great, the soundtrack isn't even dated! It's great.
