No, it's always the very same issues with IV every single time, and I always chime in when someone tries to slam V for one fault, while ignoring that IV has the very same fault... so I'm not sure you could count that as defending V. In fact, many times I've said "If you are saying that this is a problem in V, how are you giving IV a pass for the SAME THING?"

 

You're defensive of IV so of course my posts come off differently to you. I understand.

 

I've even defended IV in its very own "Things you dislike about IV" thread, because someone said something that either wasn't true, or called something a flaw because they misunderstood it.

 

And let's not AGAIN bring up my long history of white-knighting for IV back when it was being torn to shreds by the apparent majority of posters on this forum.

 

The difference between myself as most IV fans (not all, but most) on this forum, is that I can acknowledge that MY favorite GTA game has faults, and I can do so without also saying "...but it's still better than IV!!!!". Seems like the IV fanboys, whenever they DO criticize IV, HAVE to throw in the caveat "...but it's still better than V!".

GTA V didn't improve in the actual combat, there's just a few moves, that's it. In GTA IV, you can do all types of moves, especially with reversals. The cops in GTA V are unrealistic, they're always on you.

You have to remember this forum generally isn't as active so the same threads typically stay active for much longer. Maybe you notice it because it's more concentrated, but implying it doesn't occur the other way around is well a lie.

I mean, Tommy is my favorite, but he could be described as simple and idealized, he doesn't have faults, he's perfect in every way.

Trevor is ...well...your nightmare, even though in many senses he's is my dream character, he's lazily written and really cheap.

I also love how it changes depending on the type of mission passed. Some of the sombre type of missions have a sadder chime whilst others are more positive. It's only a small thing, but it's very noticeable. So much better than GTA V's generic "whoosh".

I like how some of the decisions in GTA IV would make a impact to the story. Some were small, some were big. The ending is probably the best example. Do you want to kill the person that betrayed you , and get your revenge? Or do you want to work with the person who betrayed you, so you can make more money? Do you want to kill the person that ambushed you and your team back in the war, and one of the main reasons why you came to Liberty City, so you can find him? Or do you want to let him live? The decisions also give unique dialogue, and there is special execution scenes as well.

They sure do, but the player's (protagonist's) shadow doesn't get casted by other vehicle lights. You should check what you're smoking.
