LOL. This thread really shows how insecure the IV fanboys are. There is no need to discuss why Iv is better than V, because V is undoubtedly better. Stupid fanboys, just admit that V is better. This thread should be locked. :D

Snippet from my post to another user who said basically the same thing you said: "It's not insecure of IV fans to start a thread of something an OLD game did better than a NEW one. It is, however, pretty insecure for fans of the new one to retaliate and make their own thread saying what the new game did better than the old one."

Why did you have to come here anyway? Post on topic, reply to someone else's post or don't post at all. None of us "IV fanboys" did anything like what you are doing right now on that other thread that got locked, so don't bring your immaturity here just because your butthurt (hate using that term, but its true).

Bumping a thread with a recent post of 4 days ago to call the fans of GTA IV fanboys and insecure shows insecurity itself.;)

This pretty much reminds of when Michael rips on Trevor for being a hipster and Trevor claims to hate hipsters. The only difference is instead of being the proto-hipster you're the proto-fanboy who secretly loves GTA IV and only says GTA V is better for emotional security.:p

I'm gonna contribute to this thread.

1. Story (undoubtedly)

2. A living world of LC and Alderney (yet another obvious thing)

3. Vehicular physics

4. Pure free-roam multiplayer

5. Fast to join multiplayer sessions (It took me only 15 seconds on PS3, 10 seconds on PC, yet it took me 90 seconds to join GTA Online PS3)

6. Weapon variation

7. The best protagonist (never really in to Vice City)

8. Funny ragdoll physics

9. Ability to grab on ledges and also shimmying

10. Ability to leave car engines on

11. Ability to crouch

More to go.

1. Story (no question)

2. Protagonist (Niko Bellic is more badass than the trio in V together)

3. Cops are more fun

4. Melee combat is better

5. the Story is longer

its definitely my favourite GTA (with the Episodes counted in) I loved Niko's story the most

but I also liked how the stories were intervined

If Michael, Trevor, or Frank died in a future DLC, I wouldnt care one bit. They were unlikeable backstabbing boring pricks. The whole vibe to GTAV felt unpleasant to me. They put too much emphasis on "LA IS FULL OF HIPSTERS,WHINY GIRLS, AND HYPOCRITES THAT WANT TO BE FAMOUS" And it made me cringe because thats the only thing I see on every street in LS. In previous GTAs, those things were there, but thy didnt impact the story or played a major role..they were just there for the laughs. I can go on and on but its too much. GTAV did NOT deserve a 10/10. the industry is just afraid of R* and their army of new coming casuals

This. That's why GTA V only got 96/100 on Metacritic, but IV got a whopping 98/100 on Metacritic. Sorry, I can't like posts today.

I'm going to list my personal reasons in how GTA IV succeeds over GTA V. I love both, but IV and EFLC definitely implemented better things such as...

- Funnier Weazel News Reports: GTA V's are way too serious, very little satire and use of humorous statements that would feel out of place in real-life news reports. Some of GTA IV/EFLC's news reports really had me laughing hard. "Are you carpooling with a RAPIST?!?"

- Better In-Vehicle Shooting: GTA IV's is not perfect, but it's functionable. You can get aim on NPCs pretty well. GTA V's in-vehicle shooting honestly feels so stiff and unresponsive. The zoom-in is completely unnecessary and just makes aiming harder than it already is. Using a shotgun on a bike is almost useless, it was SO much better in TLAD.

- More Interiors: This is self-explanatory. Most interiors in GTA V were obviously built for the storyline, though there are exceptions like the underground sewer system which I thought was a great addition. Unfortunately, restaurant interiors and other random buildings like housing projects just aren't there for whatever reason.

- Better Story: This is personal preference at best, but IV and EFLC's storylines did feel more "GTA-like" than the whole antagonistic FIB/Merryweather storyline in GTA V.

- Various Activities: Vigilante, gang/drug wars, fight club, drug packages, hell even bowling. GTA V does have rampages and arms/drug trafficking, I'll give it that. Still better that could have been implemented though than yoga and tennis.

- Better Physics: Not a huge deal. The Euphoria physics just feel more realistic in GTA IV, and getting drunk is so much better than that scripted-animation bullsh*t that V went with for whatever reason. At least V lets you dive onto the ground though.

- Less Aggressive/Funnier Cops: The LCPD could be annoying and challenging, though they're mostly trash-talking incompetent morons who are fun to mow down, along with the wannabe-badass NOOSE forces. Truly some funny quotes like "let's tango, cowboy!", "I'll shoot yer tits off!" or "you're about to be a statistic!". The LSPD on the other hand? Over-aggressive dicks with RoboCop-style accuracy and generic, boring quotes like "I'll kill youuu!!!" or "drop it!". I also liked it better when NOOSE forces rode in Police Riot vans and not annoying arse FIB cars. They should have reserved a six-star level for that sh*t.

- Better Blood/Gore: Already gone over this before. Blood in GTA IV while not perfect, is way more satisfying than V imo. Better blood sprays and wounds rather than cartoonish GTA III-esque drips, red blobs and cranbrerry juice puddles in V. The only thing GTA IV was missing were bullet marks exactly where you shot someone, like in the head. RDR and Max Payne 3 nailed the gore as far as I'm concerned, but GTA V's was a step back from ALL those games.

- Weapon Sounds: Again, no big deal. The weapon sounds in IV just sound like they have more impact. At least V's aren't as bad as San Andreas though.

- Vehicle Driving/Physics: IV almost nailed motorcycles. They just handle like they're on ice sometimes, but at least you can pull off cool powerslides and wheelies. V feels more like the GTA III Era games, very on-rails. I don't have a problem with this and do enjoy a more arcade style, I just think wheelies are a complete joke to pull off, and dying from high falls REALLY sucks. As far as cars and other vehicles go, I don't have a problem with them in either game. I just think cars in GTA IV have too much body roll while turning, and I don't like the off-center camera, while cars in GTA V have almost NO body roll and are harder to ram out the way because they stick to the ground too well.

That's all I can think of for now. Maybe I'm being biased, which I don't want to be because GTA V truly is a worthy installment that does it's own things better than GTA IV, like a larger (and more diverse) map, more vehicles and weapons, better mission variety, fluid on-foot movement, shooting mechanics (on-foot only) and an in-game music score. It just feels like they ignored a good amount of improvements that made GTA IV/EFLC great. In other words, they took two steps forward and one step back.

I'm sure SonOfLiberty will agree with alot of the points I made here. :D

- Niko was a new and interesting change to the usual GTA character types

- Tons of activites and detailed friend hang-outs (I enjoy playing SP so this was important)

- Superior weapon sounds - grenade, M4, and particularly the bang from the Combat Shotgun

- Better weapons - Combat Shotgun (IV), Assault Shotgun (TBOGT), Striker (TLAD), Auto 9mm (TLAD)

- V's characters are too clumsy when jumping etc

- Superior / more 'solid' cover system

- Vehicle handling and physics beat those in V.. just needs more speed

- More detailed police dispatch radio

- Police computer

- Police AI

- More pedestrian / motorist quotes. inb4 #f*ckmeintheass mexican

- Much more victorious endings

Another point I would like to make, blowing up cars in GTA IV is so much easier. All you have to do is shoot into the interior, at the trunk or above the rear wheels a few times to make it set alight, and it'll blow up in just a few seconds. GTA V on the other hand requires you to get a shot at the gas tank which is to the left of one of the rear wheels. At least it usually explodes instantly depending on how you do it or what gun you use. Seriously though, cars in GTA V are like tanks.

You don't have to aim above the back wheels, you can shoot at them and they will catch fire soon.

Just gonna throw out there that the wasted screen in IV is way better than V's. I've been messing around in V for couple of weeks on and off, but I just went back to IV, and when I ran my motorcycle into a chain-link fence, skidded along the top of it, landed on a wrecked car and then slid off of it, all in OPTIONAL black and white slomo, I was giddy. In V I woulda just seen my character start to fall off his bike.

And last but not least, there's a cutscene everytime you fail a mission (except when failure was caused by death or arrest)

Destroying Roman's taxi - taking the bus home

Failing a mission with someone else - dropping him/her off somewhere with interesting dialogue

Lost a target - Niko curse/swear, 'angry' face

I loved Perseus and it's assistant & security. You'll be warned and confronted when withdrawing a weapon - you can kill the guard by just running into him repeatedly (he won't attack you when he takes damage in this method because it's not considered an attack)

Niko's running/sprinting was way better too

Niko's running/sprinting was way better too

I was never a fan of Niko's running/sprinting animation to be honest. Almost looked like he had a pen up his arse. That said, Johnny's was awkward as well, like he had a broken back or something like that.

I have to admit IV's ped dialogue is way more memorable and funnier than V's. The Hispanic gang member saying "are you f*ckin' jerking off in there?!?" while in traffic gets me everytime. Not that "puta mandre!" and "f*ck me in the ass" sh*te.

- Cop cars didn't keep up with super cars so easily. In GTA V, 4 door cruisers keep up with super cars.

- Cop cars didn't ram your back side so often. They'd try to pit maneuver you, stop in front of you, take advantage of their environments, etc. In GTA V, police constantly ram you.

- No instantly respawning helicopters.

- Cops had a cooldown. They didn't instantly respawn. It would take a while before a few more show up. In GTA V, police never stop.

- Cops had variety. Some were fat and slow and others were slim and ran faster. Also, regular officers weren't really accurate with shooting. At higher wanted levels they put up a reasonable fight. N.O.O.S.E. and F.I.B. had lots of accuracy and training. They weren't perfect and still missed a few shots but were more accurate than regular police officers. In GTA V, they're all the same with different outfits.

- Only certain divisions could have certain weapons. (L.C.P.D: Pistol, Pump Shotgun, Nightstick/Baton. N.O.O.S.E: Pistol, Shotgun, M4 Rifle, M249 LMG, Grenade. F.I.B: Pistol, Shotgun, SMG, M4, Grenade) In GTA V, regular officers have rifles. O.o

- F.I.B. Buffalo was used. In GTA V, police don't use it at all. Only the standard cruiser.

- Police Patriot. It was used as a roadblock car and a heavy unit. In GTA V, it's the Granger. Similar to the Patriot because it's an SUV, but it's more of a transport vehicle with guys shorting on the side.

- It was possible to avoid police guns firing at you and it was possible to avoid police cars hitting you. In GTA V, police have perfect accuracy and it's near impossible to avoid their vehicles.

Only thing I hated about GTA IV cops was that they fired from cars and they never lose track of you. They would always know where you are and cops would shoot out of regular cruisers. That was silly lol. It's improved in GTA V. But overall, police was better in GTA IV.

They only did that at 5 star wanted, so i was okay with it. I wish it was ONLY the FIB who did it, though - NOoSE and LCPD shouldn't.
