Yeah, Grand Theft Auto V dialogues during hangouts are much better than dialogues during missions... Interesting, because most people won't ever heard them.

Yeah they're really good I think. Unlike in IV they also included some dialogues that only happen in between certain missions that relate specifically to what's going on in the story at that point, which I liked. I prefer IV's hangouts overall mostly just because I prefer the characters and activities but V's are cool too.

True, that was very good idea to implement that. Also, I like how they are not limited to only one dialogue.

Physics regarding gunplay were more dynamic in IV, and guns felt and sounded meatier, in V it felt like handling airsoft guns, light with no recoil. I remember in my first IV playthrough I did very little exploring and only really used guns given to me or dropped in missions, so the biggest gun I used was the micro smg.

Then I played Three Leaf Clover and fired the M4 for the first time, I felt like a god of destruction, the damage, sound and recoil, it was a big step up, between the mission and the gun it really felt like the big leagues.

You can actually crouch in this game.

Plus, the cops are nicer here than they are in GTA V.

Players constantly condemn Niko's movements in Grand Theft Auto IV (even though Johnny has much more awkward movements), but I like how the game doesn't forces you to go a certain path.

I mean, in Grand Theft Auto V in every interior game forces you to walk a given path.

I get it, like with Trevor when you wanna go sniff on the sock but he game steers automatically towards the door.

Radio was done better in IV.

Not only it captures the sound of late 2008 NY it also has a better music selection, plus the complete edition shares songs from both IV and Episodes. Racing down Star Junction with Wild Side on the radio, or driving through some sketchy neighborhood at night while Dirty New Yorker plays just gets me in a mood.

GTA V's music selection just plain sucks. Can't listen to one station for long, it's mostly one song then looking for a new one. Complete opposite to IV where I can listen to one radio station for a long time.

Another thing GTA IV does better is TV.

Can't tell you how much I laughed when I saw the Weazel News Chopper add, it reminded me of FOX5 news chopper. All the adds, the shows it feels like actual TV, in V it feels like I'm watching Cartoon Network.

I mean, are players nowadays so stupid the game needs to steer them towards the door? Come on.

The TV shows in GTA V were flat out dumb/boring with the exception of Princess Robot Bubblegum, but even that show had issues.

I enjoy the fact that there is a "Turn Up TV Volume" option in the game, but it doesn't seem to work.

In GTA IV/EFLC, if I wanted to "Turn Up TV Volume" in game, then I can and I can actually hear a difference in the audio.

Those kiddos can say all they want about GTA V, but in reality they are playing a sorry excuse for a GTA game.

Princess Robot Bubblegum is in EFLC not V [Edit: I was incorrect about this]

I don't think the TV is that great in either game tbh, in both the majority isn't worth watching but there's a couple of good things. I found The Men's Room and that knife show so boring they were unwatchable in IV, the only good things are I'm Rich and the ads. And in EFLC I only really liked the history of Liberty City show. Similarly in V I couldn't stand any of the cartoons but the Steve Haines show and Fame or Shame were amusing.

In IV/EFLC it's also very annoying that if you change the channel and change back again it'll just be at a completly random point in the show/channel, whereas in V it's like real TV and you can flick between the channels and the place will be kept. And the writing and style of the TV content is very similar in both games. It's a rare case where I prefer V's version overall, but they're not very different to each other.

Yeah, I've never watched any TV shows in any Grand Theft Auto games. Pointless... Also, in Grand Theft Auto IV all of them were made when the game was in a very early stage of production, which makes these shows look awful.

Ah you're right. Just looked it up and it was exclusive to PS4/Xbox One/PC, I've only played on the ol' Xbox 360 so haven't seen it.

It was in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions too, but it was the Japanese release of it.

On the TV? It's not. I played V non stop for years and watched the entirety of both TV channels several times as well as randomly turning on the tv countless times and never saw it, and there's also no video of it on youtube, and it's explained on wikis about the game that it was only added in next gen. In the old gen game there's only a Princess Robot Bubblegum website with episode descriptions.

I thought it was in the Japanese Version, since the US (In game) banned it altogether. Turns out I was wrong.

Alright, back on topic of stuff done better in GTA IV.

If I can say something done better in GTA IV, it would be the difficulty.

I don't get why people said that GTA V was way too easy, I thought that game was impossible to beat, I did beat it years ago on PS3 and it took me one or two years. Then I get GTA IV and EFLC in one disc and beat GTA IV faster than GTA V. Took me from April to almost August to beat GTA IV and I thought it had one of the best stories in any video game.

Did I mention in a different thread that the gold medals were a pain? Reason why I have no intention to ever go back to GTA V, heck I would probably hold off of Ballad Of Gay Tony since that game started the gold medal BS.

On PC every Grand Theft Auto is easy, but in Grand Theft Auto V you can die very easily... it's almost as if the HP bar didn't even exist.

I'm more towards console when it comes to GTA in general mainly because I played on console for many years, but then I recently get any GTA game on Steam and oh my...

Back on topic, I think GTA IV does better in the Girlfriend mechanic.

Let me tell you something... I've just completed the last mission in Grand Theft Auto IV again, and it was such an amazing experience... the atmosphere was something else... it was raining, and the music from the radio was awesome - it was the song from the first trailer. That's something Grand Theft Auto V just can't achieve... especially with the lousy score they included in the game.

Holy shoot! It really HAS been a good long while since I’ve posted here. Anyways, a thing that GTA 3, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, 4, EFLC, and heck even CTW alike all did better than GTA 5 is the fact that they were actually about gangs and mobs with spy and police work just as a side thing. GTA 5, on the other hand, feels like it’s predominantly about spy work and not enough about gangs and organized crime syndicates. I also feel like 5 could use versions of Las Vegas and San Francisco Bay Area like SA did. It would’ve been cool IMO if Trevor Philips Enterprises was actually based in Las Vegas instead of some hick town. It truly feels like so much wasted potential how they never have Steve Haines being on the payroll of organized crime syndicates and the fact that Devin Weston isn’t business partners with any of them.

Double post but why not? I guess time still evens everything out. Another thing that all of those aforementioned GTA titles did better than 5 IMO is that while we still had sympathetic moments with the protagonists, GTA 5 just took it to a whole new level. All three endings to 5 literally make us want to feel like Michael, Trevor, and Franklin are some sort of martyrs or saints as does the vast majority of material beforehand. I feel like all of the previous titles put the badass aspect of the criminals whom you played as before any emotions we are apparently supposed to feel for them. Now with a game where you play as virtuous law enforcement or military such as Call of Duty, LA Noire, and Max Payne, I can understand us being able to feel more emotions for the protagonists as they are just that: good guys. It just feels out of place for a game like GTA or Mafia though.

Omg I'm a sucker for these videos, and a big fan of this channel. I see the title (along with the disclaimer) is more diplomatic than the famous Crowbcat one lol, but along the same lines as that it does an excellent job of showcasing more of IV's high level of attention to detail.

The loading screen time.

Since playing GTA IV on my 10 year 360 again I’m still amazed by how much faster it loads that GTA V did on my PS4.

I haven’t tried GTA V on my PS5 yet, but with the PS5’s batsh*t insane SSD I assume it would load faster than on the PS4.

Anyway I love how fast GTA IV loads. You get a couple of loading screens and it’s basically into the game. With GTA V loading always felt like it took an eternity regardless of the platform I played it on.

Because V is a much bigger game. Not sure why IV deserves praise for this lol.

I had a feeling someone would defend GTA V by saying "It's a bigger game". That isn't even my point. My point is with GTA IV (which isn't exactly a small game either) I can boot it up and all it takes is a few seconds and I'm in the game. With GTA V it feels like I'm twiddling my thumbs by the time it's done with shoving GTAO related material down my throat.

I don't care if the game is bigger. As a gamer the ONE thing I hate is long loading times.
