Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

With IV (and all the GTA games before) I never had the feeling that I need mods. With V I have the feeling that mods would be a good thing to get more out of its potential.

I need Mods in IV. It's like a Drug Habit. :p

I don't know if its good or bad that I play GTA IV on daily basis for at least 5 hour at a time.

IV had more side content and better side content. The game actually gave you plenty of reasons to shoot people, which IMO is what GTA ultimately is. It's a TPS crime shooter with driving elements.

Agreed. What do you mean by side content? Assassination? Bowling?

Have I said that the Police NPC Models have a higher quality look than V's ones?

GTAV has side content like yoga, tennis, watching movies, and other bullsh*t that doesn't even leverage the game mechanics.

Yeah, GTA4 has pool, bowling, and stuff. But it also has Vigilante, Jacob's Runs, Brucie's Thefts, Stevie's Thefts, Assassination, etc. Stuff that actually makes you SHOOT PEOPLE

The only "action" side activity in GTAV is probably Trevor's Bail Bonds...and there are only 4 of those.

And Trevor's gun deals and smuggling, they are infinite too.

It's bad if you asked me, way too long, however I can't blame you as it is a masterpiece. I would try to limit to 1-2 hours a day instead of 5 though...

That's true. Adding more reasons to why GTA IV is better than V.

But easy and pretty much the same every time? (don't really know)

Go to drop off, pick up sh*t, get chased by 2 guys in one truck, kill them or escape, deliver, repeat. That's pretty all there is to it, unlike Vigilante in IV.

But they are action sidemissions, more than Franklin or Michael have to offer.

It doesn't even matter what character it is. The entire game has jack sh*t to offer.

IN GTA4 the Vigilante alone is so awesome but most of the players don't even know how cool it is and it went underappreciated, that's maybe why Rockstar took it out.

The "Most Wanted" missions have as much detail as the Bail Bonds ones, and give you a nice shootout/carchase. There are LOTS of them. And even when you finish those you can still pick "Gang Activity" missions which are infinite and always give you a helping of bad guys to shoot.

And that they're not the same generic bald guys over and over again.

Only if he knew what lies ahead of him. Why the f*ck did he have to turn into a f*cking Crack Fiend.

Stunt jumps. They´re so much more fun with IV´s physics, one of my favourite things to do in the game.

You can kill people just by Walking over them in V. You cannot in IV. Thus this is a ridiculous thing that IV does not have.

Nope. The 'Never Wanted' Option in SNT remains permanently ON.

A funny way to kill people in V is to ragdoll into them while they're sitting down, it always kills them instantly.

Story (was more dark and deppressing and i liked it better than being FIB's Bitch and some flashback Cliche)

Euphoria Physics (it was more realistic and on the other hand, more fun)

Melee Fighting (The GTA 4 ragdoll gives it a more realistic feel, an actual Martial art combos and fighting moves (Krav Maga)...)

Characters (Niko, Roman, Little Jacob etc)

Driving Physics (it was more realistic, in GTA 5, the driving was like an arcade game or a racing game, i prefer realism over fun)

Helicopter Physics ( it felt much more like real life, the controlling it was harder than V and it felt heavier)

Cops (the fat cop was so funny, cops weren't as annoying as GTA 5)

Expansions (TLAD and TBOGT)

Map (the ciy was an actual city, with beautiful skyscrapers, and one of them is functional.)

Guns (In GTA 5, guns look like some plastic toys)

No Trevor!

Random Events (they were better especially the Eddie Low. they were memorable and enjoyable for some reason)

Minigames (Bowling,Pool etc)

Side Missions (Roman's Cap, Brucie's Theft, Assasination, Stevie's theft, and the Criminal killings (Vigilante)..)

more things to do in FriendShip activity (Resturant, nightclubs, Bowling, Pool etc)

MODS!!!!

you can shoot your alies and friends

Damage Physics (Car damage, helicopter damage etc)

More Interiors. (some mission interiors are actually reenterable. even after you complete them)

Johnny death is pure speculation

I love denial but no, he got his skull cracked open.

First time poster here. I stumbled onto this forum thanks to feeling a bit dissatisfied with GTA V. I've been playing V on my roommate's 360, but might need to go out and get IV. I played a good bit of it a while back since my friend had it, and from what I remember of it, it's just...fuller, or maybe richer, is the right word, compared to V.

In V, the story mode just feels way too cobbled together, and the missions are so short that a lot of times, I complete them, and go, "Wait, that counted as a full mission?" I just finished the second Madrazo mission, the one where Trevor and Michael take out his cousin who's going to Liberty City. It involved:

-Driving 3ish miles to the van.
-Shooting the plane down in about 10 seconds.
-Having Trevor drive 2 miles on a dirt bike to the crash site.

-Shooting Madrazo's cousin and stealing the files.

So, all in all, about 95% driving, 5% actually doing things. And that experience has been involved in way too many of the missions, IMO. I remember a decent deal of repetition with IV, but you actually felt like you'd done something at the end. It felt like the actions propelled the story, Nico, and even the other characters forward. Conversely, the actions felt like a natural part of the story. It was a solid balance or dynamic between gameplay and narrative. In V, I often feel caught in this dull grind of, "What do I have to do next? And why did I even just have to do that random stuff at all? Where is this going?"

All in all, between the lack of compelling villains, the sort of "false construct" feel of the city--I remember feeling really immersed in LC, and that hasn't been there as much in LS--and the fact that all the characters are now just caught up in the FIB story, I'm finding it harder and harder to want to continue playing.
