Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

Eh! Its been a long time since I played GTA V without mods. I thought we can leave the engine running in V. Just checked online and really surprised to know that the cars turn off automatically in V. I guess I had forgotten everything about the vanilla V after playing the modded game a lot.

E:

I think its definitely a bug just like animals reporting crimes, that Rockstar unknowingly left in the game and forgot to patch. I don't see why would they want to remove the option seen in IV from V.

I doubt it's a bug. R* just got incredibly lazy leaving these kind of helpful features out they were implemented in GTA IV. It's not the only one.

I think the Animals Calling the Police on you thing was intentionally done as a way of adding Fake Difficulty to V.

It was only removed after the MC exposed the Files responsible and sufficient Community Pressure.

f*cking modders fixed the animal thing before Rockstar did.

Most mods are there to make the game better, it aint anything new. That proves how much more could a game be.

How the multiplayer is simple, yet engaging, fun, and still finding game lobbies with people in them. Memorable opening and ending credits, and personally feels like a movie that stands the test of time at the best of times when into the game.

Also the chilled slow intro to getting to know Niko when you first start playing IV, exploring the surrounding area of Broker and Dukes, and the Airport, taking it all in at your own pace without being flung in from the get 'Go'. And how the peds don't immediately attack you by you standing by them listening into their interesting and 'snarky' conversations through out the city compared to how I feel after the short amount of time playing V. Can never have enough of IV.

I like the beginning (from the intro till the first time you can free-roam) in IV better than in V. I´ts more chilled. In V it seemed too much "in the face".

V:

dang dangdang dang Ludendorff, North Yanktion, nine years ago

robbery

shootout

another shootout

high speed car chase through the city

police chase

now you are more in "action mode" then curious about the new city when you can finally start to free-roam

IV:

chilled drive to Roman´s apartment and listening to their conversation, you see a little bit of the city, this makes you hungry for more

cutscene where you can learn a bit about Niko´s background and have some good laughs ("Roman! Are you sleeping, you fat f*ck?! Come on")

short tutorial about the safehouse, the parking space and street vendors

now you can start to explore Hove Beach

Agree with this. IV has a great tutorial intro. Now imagine that a person, who has never played a GTA game before, picks up and plays V? They would be in a panic "What the...I'm dead already!"

It's on the fence about this. I'm not a fan of the classic overlong tutorializing, so I actually appreciated that V decided to weave its tutorials into bit more elaborate missions (unlike IV with missions whose sole purpose was to, for example, teach you to use a subway and a carwash), but I definitely wish they toned down the action at the start of the game and slowed the pacing down. The first act of IV might have been a bit dull, on the gameplay side, but it allowed to establish the setting and characters really well. And not frontloading the game with action made the extended firefights, when they finally came, all the more pronounced.

V is just so brisk. A massive shootout and car chase right in the second mission, a couple of missions where we get a feel for Franklin and Lamar and then all of a sudden, Michael hijacks the story again, right away. We don't get to truly understand Franklin and the city in those early missions, the way we were taught about CJ and Los Santos or Niko and Broker. It's just so brief and it doesn't allow the characters to really breathe. The plot rushes forth like a freight train gone loose and the action gets so intense, so quick and the characters just have to struggle with establishing themselves among all this loud noise.

At the end of the day, it still did its job, but I've come to miss the more deliberate pacing of the old GTAs. And if the price for it are missions teaching you to throw bricks in a shop window, and nothing else, then I'm willing to pay the price again.

At least you could throw Bricks in IV/EFLC. :^:

until R* releases a Vice city dlc and playable Niko, IV will be alive. only this could make me stop playing IV. Niko is my buddy, and i will never let him down

The sawn off shotgun in V is an absolute joke lol. The one in TLAD felt powerful and loud. The V one just makes me laugh.

This. The shotgun has no power whatsoever in GTA V, its like using a pistol, really disappointing.

there are literally only two things V has over IV: first person view, and better PC optimization. that's it.

True, I wouldn't mind a first person camera in a possible remaster/remake. I just wish there was a dedicated button for the first person, like for the cinematic camera in vehicles. I like using it as a zoom function when walking around, but it's kind of annoying to go through all the different camera angles any time I want to look at something in detail.

I actually prefer V's Night Moves to Her Strut, when we're talking about Seger alone. Shame on me, I know.

Otherwise, LRR completely dominates LSRR. I can't even imagine IV without 1979, New York Groove, Fascination, Remedy, Turn You Inside Out... the whole tracklist was pure gold.

I have found gta IV missions more interesting than that of gta V.

gta V is famous because of its graphics and some more features than gta IV.

We can say:

gta IV + gta SA = gta V .

gta IV has an unique feeling which gta V has nt included.

Hell no. GTA IV + GTA SA would have made a far better GTA than V.

Throw VCS into the mix and you get ultimate GTA.

Actual antagonists that literally made you feel like you had a grudge with.

In V, I didn't really care for Devin Weston, Steve Haines, Stretch, or Cheng. (Wait, who were the actual antagonists again?)

In IV, it felt like you wanted Dimitri or Pegorino dead (whichever scenario you chose). That sh** was personal.

No man,

I meant

The featutes of gta IV + Some Map of gta SA = gta V

See, gta IV was the 1st gta same which had a usable phone; usable computers; differentiated graphics from gta III series; enterable taxis; computers in cop cars, even watching TVs and hell more.

In my opinion, gta V is just a reflection of gta IV.

gta V had very less supporting characters. Ex: Jimmy calls Michael An @sshole, during the mission Fame or Shame.

How can a son abuse his father?

But I also appericiate gta V because it also involve some new features in it.

1. Slowmotion

2. Rectangular HUD

3. Weapon Wheel

4. Animals

5. Bigger Map

6. Better Graphics

7. gta IV was dark and the character's face appeared PALE. In gta V there is a thig called Sunlight. Character's face appear bright here.

8. Better Car Models and Textures

9. More Cars and Motorcycles, including bicycles

10. New Guns

11. Better clothes

12. More shops etc.

1. Gta IV has slowmotion, in cinematic mode, you can turn it on.

2. The classic GTA hud was always a circle. GTA5 loses the GTA magic with these little things.

3. That was scrapped from MP3, again, the classic weapon selector in GTA has always been < left, right>

4. GTA IV had pigeons and seaguls, I think those are animals.

5. Bigger, maybe, but empty. IV's might be smaller but its more intense.

6. You cant blame that on IV, there's a FIVE YEARS difference between the games, compare V in a few years with some other GTA and you'll understand

7. IV's STORY was set in a cold ambience, probably winter, also it really fits the story with that cold aura and the atmosphere. But there's sunlight in Liberty City too, you need to play more and see it yourself.

8. Most cars scrapped from IV and remodeled with the new graphics motor, not much difference.

9. Quality over Quantity.

10. You can say they're new, but I saw those very same guns and MORE ind GTA III, VC, VCS...etcetera.

11. Better clothes? IV had enough clothes choices, sure it could have had more, but its not a big deal, And you overuse the word 'better'.

12. More shops? I havent played GTA5 but Im pretty sure IV's has more interiors, shops and little places to discover.

Its not a fight, just a comparison, don't get mad. Also, see, LC's has sunlight too.2614553-gta_iv_mod_comparison_b.still004

There is something special about being surrounded by a concrete jungle like in Algonquin. Star Junction is a spitting image of real-life Times Square. Cabs everywhere, packed full of people, horns from vehicles honking in the distance. Whenever I'm in Star Junction I always walk around more than drive in that area. I like taking the atmosphere in.

Yeah I agree.

What did I say in previous texts? I said gta V is just a reflection of gta IV.

gta IV has better missions also.

I feel gta V is totally boring. It is famous because of its graphics and smartphone.

gta V is too expensive too. gta IV is cheap in rate; good; and strong.

I will prefer gta IV than gta V.

gta IV is unique. It has brought a great revolution to gta's.

In gta III series we can see the games like gta vcs, gta vc, gta SA, gta LCS , and gta III.

In gta IV series we can see gta IV, gta IV tLaD, and gta TBOGT.

Compare gta III series with the gta IV series. Its hell and heaven difference. This leads to the conclusion that gta IV is a game which has brought R★ the biggest gta revolution.

Anyways, I have read in IGN that gta VI will be released and its city will most probabt be Vice City.

In IV there´s only jokes about being the janitor and having to mop the floor. In V you ARE the janitor mopping the floor.

Guys, lets stick to the topic. The current topic is:

THINGS GTA IV DID BETTER THAN GTA V

My holidays are going to be over. I dont know when I will become free. I will be offline for months. Ciao.

If there's one thing that GTA IV dropped the ball for it would be the lack of playability for the PC version, as it still uses the completely useless GFWL and R* is too oblivious to realize this, rendering the PC version unplayable.
