Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

I feel like IV did the matchmaking for multiplayer much better than Online does. Back in IV and EFLC, we had a neat little set of races, deathmatches, plenty of game modes that can be customized in the lobby itself. I always managed to find a deathmatch in TBOGT. In Online however, we're literally littered with hundreds of races, deathmatches, a bunch of modes nobody can matchmake into because they're spread way too thin, and the Creator only made things worse with the thousands of "$99999 and RP!!!" bullsh*t jobs. GTAO really hit us hard with the whole "quantity over quality" thing because I can't find a full lobby for anything that isn't a heist or a contact mission anymore...

Friendly Fire Off too. It was so funny seeing people get lunged by the Annihilator's explosive cannons. *sigh* I miss GTA IV's multiplayer, but I also love Online and V's customization. I hope GTA 6 brings the best of both worlds.

GTA IV IS TRASH. Every single aspect.

 

The game starts out on a boat, how original... Anybody who ever read moby dick in high school pretty much knows where this story is going..

Annoying things make the game feel like youre in it. best example is that you have friends. I don't know what kind of world this is based on, but i NEVER have people calling me asking me to do things. the amount of times nico bericks friends call him per in game hour makes it seem like this is the sims all over again.

 

You walk around the streets and bump into people and they fall over... that isn't even funny. Instead of wasting time on things like physics rockstar should have given us different ways to hold our gun like sideways (just more "gangsta" culture in general).

 

Shooting pigeons is unrealistic. It should be like in san andreas where you get oysters to be more sexy with the ladies.

 

Speaking of shooting.. its just boring. You fire a handgun and it just sounds so LOUD. I like the classic cap gun sounds of the HD era. I also hate how when you shoot somebody you can see the impact of the bullet and the nps react. It is much more fun in V wiht a system where NPCs get shot and just keep doing what they're doing.

 

Dark. Gritty... those words are usually negative. like if somebody is saying somebody has a dark past, dark thoughts, or dark skin, its not a compliment.. Gritty, like when you eat a piece of meat and it tastes like there is sand..

 

Speaking of eating, I miss when I could eat and just get fat. I would trade all the bullsh*t like police arresting people, npcs having seperate injured/dead states for being able to get fat. Also planes, GTA is nothing without them. GTA 1, 2, 3, and vice city didn't have planes like san andreas but thats because rockstar hadn't yet hired an aviation expert to give us the masterful flawless five.

 

God. You can't even have fun like the old ones because things are stupid and react to your actions. Mayhem is just impossible iwth it's stupid vehicle deformation, and stupid pedestrian interactions.

Unlike IV where if you shoot a civilian, they will try to get the hell out of there while crouching because of the wound. So unrealistic! Why would Rockstar even consider such things..

Don´t get me started with the fast food restaurants and hot-dog stands...life makes no sense when fast food restaurants are enterable and you can actually buy something from the street vendors.

 

Your life is much, much healthier when Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell are closed 24/7 and the street vendors refuse to sell something to you. Not enough that IV is boring as sh*t, it´s also unhealthy.

1. GTA can be good without planes. ( *cough* Vice City *cough* ), well VC had one or two planes iirc, but the game could've been just as legendary as it is without them.

2. The way pedestrians react made me feel that I'm really in LC and not some dead end with crappy looking ped models who was just programmed to either stand or walk like a pig.

3. Vehicle deformation is awesome, I've seen a lot of people weep over it, I don't understand, there's a new engine, there's new, awesome graphics, what do you expect? Vehicles to act like they are some batmobile or some sh*t like that?

4. People calling the protagonist and asking him to do things were featured in older GTAs too.

5. About the 'starts in a boat' thing, I don't know what the f*ck you're trying to convey.

6. They don't call you and force you to do sh*t, missions are optional to an extent.

7. Oh and since you mentioned originality, I don't see how peds in SA just fall over like they're f*cking apple-pie-that-was-pushed-off-the-table. You don't mention originiality and stand with the older GTAs, not that they are not good, but it makes no sense.

I lost the numbering system, so I'll just add my points.

 

• I like how the police actually patrolled the entire city, instead of just patrolling around the main police station.

​

• I like how the police tried to ram me off the road or spin me out instead of kissing my ass on a periodic basis.

 

• I like how the peds either pushed you slightly and moved to another area, or just ignored me when I stood near them, ( even if I wasn't facing them ), rather than trying to murder me.

​

• I like how the police actually tried to take cover asap when I aimed at them and try to cover as much of their body as possible when hiding rather than running towards me and providing fodder.

 

• ​I like how the police choppers actually came in a somewhat realistic time interval rather than just spawning out of the sky.

 

• I like how the vehicles handled somewhat realistically, especially the bikes instead of handling like they are from the space age.

Agreed, but this is possible because the GTA IV multyplayer is much simpler than GTA Online.
