Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

I remember on my first playthrough getting to the end and asking myself who Stretch and Wei Cheng were even though they were supposed to be supporting antagonists because I forgot about them halfway through.

 

After completing GTA V, I literally had to google Stretch to find out who the f*ck he was.

 

It's funny because even on the second playthrough I still forgot who they were lol. Easily two of the worst antagonists in the series.

Since when was a Limousine an Antagonist? How would that even work?

The plot of V has some up and downs (for me mostly downs unfortunately). It's like sometimes the story just loses focus. I was really excited after the Vangelico heist because it is truly the only one that felt like a real one. All the other ones didn't feel like heists (in the exception of The Big One).

The antagonists weren't threatening enough. Martin Madrazo has that potential before becoming one of the comic relief. Hell he was more threatening than all 3 antagonists combined. Stretch and We Cheng only shows up in less than maybe 3 missions if i remember correctly. Steve Haines felt like a comic relief too (i love the running gag of his foot kept getting shot though lol). Also, are the Merryweather treated as supporting antagonists ? I kinda forget. Meanwhile in IV, Dimitri himself felt more threatening as he backstab Faustin and Niko, literally burn the Bellics out of Hove Beach, kidnap and torture Roman and could killed Roman in the ending.

 

Those are my opinion on V story and Antagonists which imo a bit of a step down compared to IV (but at least i think V story is still a lot better than SA). Shame considering how some of the dialogues were great and the chemistry between the characters were top notch in V.

That's cuz the V people lose their sh*t when someone bashes their favorite game. It's not us, it's them, plain and simple, really. SA is my favorite and so is IV. Bash it all you want, see how much I could careless, cuz I can distinguish that it's only a Video Game and someone may have a different opinion than I do. I can deal with it, as I don't care. Others seem to care and get bent out of shape over the dumbest things. It's Video Games afterall. People take it way too seriously as if it means something. It doesn't. It's something, I, and I'd imagine most people, do it to blow off steam and escape from their daily real-life lives. I don't need to lose my sh*t cuz someone says SA sucks or CJ sucks. I could careless, lol...

 

People who take Videos Games seriously are those who eventually go out on a real life killing spree and then say Video Games made them do it.

For some people video games are only thing they're good at, only place where they feel they can achieve something. So I understand why people take games seriously.

Because I have never liked IV (sorry IV forum) and I have no desire come here and troll this place with my opinions about the superiority of V! I wish more people on this site would show a modicum of respect for the various forums and their respective topics.

 

Fuzzy, are you here as revenge for having the V forum overrun with V-hating GTA IV fans?

 

If so, might I suggest lol finding a better use for your time, brother?

IV's really boring and it doesn't have half the finesse of the infinitely superior GTA V. From the cover mechanics to the car physics, V beats IV hands down.

 

It's like a cave painting compared to V, graphically. V doesn't have the endlessly grey streets, it has a beautiful vibrant map filled with detail and makes IV look like a concentration camp.

Its an excellent game fir millions out there. Nobody cares about what a very tiny minority thinks.

People want to enjoy their games and V has managed to deliver that fun factor after so many years bringing GTA back to the roots that the loser Niko Bellic derailed it. I think publishers realised the fact that Niko wasn't just a big loser in the end of the story, but also proved a bad luck for them leading to loses. Even now, IV has mixed reviews on Steam.

Don't get me wrong but we need to be practical and less of a fanboy kissing IV 24/7, and understand the reality, what the world thinks outside this small section of IV, which is the only place the game is even talked about, otherwise IV has aged really badly, that I don't think people would ever return playing it. As a result, I don't think there'll be any annyversary celebrations for a game that is remembered as the first failure in the history of the series.

I have the utmost respect for you, good sir. I absolutely despise GTA V, but I do not go to all the threads in the V section and ramble on about how bad it is.

 

You are essentially the opposite, and I can really respect someone who can control their opinions and make posts based on common sense and decency.

I often ask this to some of the IV fans in the V section as well when they bring up interesting things to share, leading to derailment of the topics, and guess what, they get equally supported for doing that.

That's setting an example. A clear message.

SP DLC is the only thing I can think this boring game had to offer. The episodes were a godsend that corrected some of the things that the IV needed significantly, and helped to tirn this boring LC into a little bit of a fun place than a depressing, lonely simulator.

Except, they aren't trolls.... you simply take them that way because they don't agree with your opinion. Though there are trolls on either side, such as Cheatz_N_Trickz, 90% are not.

Since when was a Limousine an Antagonist? How would that even work?Haha, yes! I love how a random GTA vehicle has more depth than a core character in Franklin's beginning story arc. So rushed.

 

On topic, GTA IV's narrative had great pacing. The big fish/little fish contrast between Niko and Vlad. How executing Vlad transitions flawlessly into Faustin's missions.

The chemistry between Niko and Vlad is great. I really can't think of anything like that in GTA V probably because the characters are treated like a revolving door and aren't given a chance to grow.

Many consumers who enjoy GTA V have not even played IV, or even San Andreas or Vice City for that matter.

IV is one of those games where you either love or hate. The realism can make the game impressive... or difficult, the deep storytelling can make the game more interesting... or boring, it depends on which person is playing it. I agree. This childish bickering is boring after a few posts.

 

The counter system in GTA IV feels better, a bit more stylish and fluid with the combos that the character lands compared to the way you land punches normally.

I like the back alleys in GTA IV. Fun to drive cars and hitting the cardboard box and trash cans on those alleys. The back alleys in V is a little bit too clean. But that maybe because in real life it's like that.

The "grittiness" did improve with the current version I feel, but it still feels soft compared to the back alleys in GTA IV. Jesus when I venture into these back alleys at night I feel like I'm going to get jumped by a crack head. The atmosphere is wonderful IMO.
