Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

One thing I like is how the weapons are balanced and have their ups and downs, for example:

COMBAT PISTOL: Less Ammo, More Power

PISTOL: More Ammo, Less Power

ASSAULT RIFLE: Less Accurate, More Power

CARBINE RIFLE: More Accurate, Less Power

Curtains guns work better for different play styles, instead of V where the Carbine Rifle is so good you don't need the Assault Rifle.

That one you've got right*. Rundown of V gun tiers:

Pistols: Deagle and Heavy Pistol only viable guns for on-foot, provided you are good at tapping heads. AP Pistol outclasses Uzi as drive-by gun.

SMGs a too short range to be viable outside of close-range bullet spam. Tapping heads exception applies to Assault SMG. Only upper hand that Uzi has over AP is Fire rate, but with the low damage output AP still outclasses it.

Rifles: AK is the worst in everything. Carbine, Advanced, Special and Bullpup Rifles outclass it with ease. Best spot is taken by Advanced Rifle and Bullpup. (Former has best damage output/ latter has best firerate with the damage of the Special Carbine)

Snipers: No-brainer: If Stealth, AW. If one shot, one kill, BMG.

MGs: As soon as you get the Combat one you won't see yourself using the normal MG.

Shotguns: Autoshotty outclasses all the others, Sawed-Off as drive-by being useless unless you're on a Bati with a Kuruma tailing you. Even then, Kuruma wins in the most situations.

Source: Making tryhards ragequit since April 14. How? Thrown away about 5k hours across all iterations of CS.

Edit: I thought you meant V. F*ck, I should seriously restock on coffee.

It's a nice playground, especially since most are convinced they're better. Terminology comes from CS since I've picked it up once again recently.

Even then, same applies for SP. Once you get the better gun from the same tier you won't find yourself using the others, ever.

Do I have a secret admirer? I think so.

You know you're getting to someone when they have to mention you in every comment they make, even if they're quoting someone else.

Not really, no :/

I just had to mention the fact you derailed threads with your vehicle collecting, I could of mentioned someone else and you would never of posted this, nobody asked for the vehicle collecting legend on the "did V deserve a 97?" thread.

GTA IV has more gangs than it appears. I'm pretty sure there are more gangs than VC and SA also. They might not be as homicidal as the 3D era gangs, but that's because they usually blend in.

Don't be fooled though. They're definitely there and they'll kick your ass if you mess with them.

I could be mistaken, but did any Gangs in IV, outside Story Missions, carry anything other than a Pistol? I know in CW, some of those Gangs carry Micro SMG's and sh*t around, but I don't remember much gang interaction in IV besides during Story Missions. Like, sometimes I'd shoot a Pigeon, and someone would be shooting at me (gang member) but it was just a Pistol and they only would take a spec out of my Health/Armor...

I liked how when you traveled through Saint Marks you'd get your ass handed to you with 2 shotgun blasts to your Vehicle and BOOM. Wasted. It keeps you on your seat, imo. I don't think Gangs are even a "force" to avoid except in III. That is the only time you really had to watch and that is why it felt like III takes the cake for being the most dangerous, crime-filled sh*thole of the GTA Series. It's why I love III, the gangs...

I have seen the Russians in Hove Beach use Shotguns.

Excuse me son, I'd appreciate it if you could stop derailing this thread.

They did well with the crafting of gangs in IV. While they are present, they don't stand out like a sore thumb as you said. I love cruising around the projects in northern Algonquin, there's always interesting people getting around. Proper thugs.

Cheers!

Another thing I like is roleplay capabilities, because this game excels in that aspect.

I can't say I've seen that. But it's been a while. I may have to boot up IV again and drive around and check some stuff out. That...addiction is coming back. The HD Era comes in waves to me. I don't always want to play HD. I was playing V now for a few weeks and it's time to put it back into the box and let it sit for a few months again. Time to go back to IV and drive around. :)

In fact, I was just playing, saw a Hustler carrying a bat.

I think the Triads have knives?

That's the guys I was talking about in CW, the Spanish Lords. They also carry the SMG's in CW, too.

And the Cops have Combat Snipers, Carbine Rifles, SMG's Shotguns, and Pistols. ;)

The only gang that really stuck out for me was the Angels of Death in North Algonquin, mainly because I'd kill them all as Luis, they either had Pistols or shotguns, some of them even ran away.

EDIT:

I'd also goto the Lost MC clubhouse as Niko and continuously kill the Lost ;)

That is the force I mess with in IV. I never really interacted with the Gangs as I am busy with the Police :)

Yeah, they knew how to make a scene.

But everyone else blended in well, really liked it when they threatened you if you stayed close to them.

The Lost MC in GTA V should have been exactly like GTA 3 Leones, insta killing machines!

Nope.

SA has around 9 gangs.

IV has more than 15.
