To me things like weapon sounds come down to perception. I'm no gun expert so I don't think GTA IV's are realistic as such, but other than the pistol which I admit sounds like a cap gun they generally tend to have thunderous and thumping acoustics.

 

GTA IV's AK47 is one of my favourite guns because it sounds like it has real power compared to GTA V's which sounds weak and muffled.

 

GTA IV/EFLC, VC and GTA III have the best weapon sounds in the series IMO. No bias here I swear.

 

This is a far assessment and one that I would agree with. I own a Glock 17, WASR10 (AK47), and a couple 12 gauge shotguns - IV's guns don't sound realistic at all, specially the pistol and MP5, but the rest of the guns do have a nice "punch" to them, which V lacks due to the way the audio levels were mixed. V's guns sound more realistic, as in, the sound effect of gun fire itself, but they're just too quiet.

The gun sounds are more realistic in GTA IV in my opinion. For example, you have weapons like the AK-47 or M4 in GTA IV, they sound so real, and loud. I don't know if it's just me, but the gun sounds in GTA V are more quiet. in GTA IV, sometimes it makes me even feel like I'm doing the shooting, and the impact from them.

V's MP5 sound packs a slight punch to it, but it might be just me. Either way SMG's aren't viable on it, so that goes unnoticed by most, anyway.

Just wanted to say IV`s carbine rifle still sounds way more realistic than V`s even tho it`s still a long way from having realistic assault rifle sounds

What`s the damn point in coming into IV`s section and DEFENDING V and dismissing every critics regarding V and loving IV? It`s kinda weird don`t you think? I mean just think, here are mostly the people who love IV so it`s pretty normal they are gonna praise it and prefer most of it to V.

Yet you come here on a regular basis and trying to sh*t on every "prefer in IV to V" thing? It just shows how much you`re being butthurt when someone doesn`t prefer your holly grail to IV.

 

So i`d ask about your mental health instead of mine. Because personally, i don`t feel the need of doing the same in V`s section. Not anymore at least. I did it but then i just realized how stupid and pathetic is for me to coming into V`s section and constantly bitch about V. So i quit doing it thus i will never visit V`s section again. It is a our right to visit every section we want, that`s true but we also need to realize it can get very annoying to the fans if we keep visiting the sections of the games we dislike and spill our sh*t in there.

Simple as that. You should do the same in IV`s section. Prove you are mature and stop defending V in IV`s section.

This fits right here, you might work with guns but that does not make your opinion 100% fact.

Tell me about it man. Pissing Match Central. I always said they can't take criticism. I told some of those V Guys to ignore things at least 15-20 times, literally, but they can't. It's quite possibly impossible for some of these guys to take criticism of their favorite game.

I don't always agree with Stoney, but he's right. The forums aren't dedicated fanclubs. I say the same thing when GTA V fans in the GTA V forum tell people to get out because they don't like GTA V.

 

However Stoney doesn't really come across as a "GTA IV hater" per say. He's even admitted he likes the game despite being more favourable of GTA V. Obviously people are going to be more more biased in each respective sub forum, but honestly the whole "Why are you posting here if you don't like <insert game>?" attitude on both sides of the fence is annoying.

 

I'm not a huge fan of LCS, but I still post in the LCS forum every now and then. As far as I'm concerned unless someone's breaking an immediate rule they can post wherever they like.

Just think what you`re doing here for a second. It`s a topic called "reasons why IV is better than V" in IV section and i posted in it my 5 cents by saying the gun sounds are better in IV than in V.

Then you came and f*cking derailed the whole topic with your butthurt attitude. Just look what you did to the last 2 pages of this fine thread. We would`ve been still staying OT if you wouldn`t get all butthurt about me prefering IV`s gun sounds to V`s in a goddamn IV section.

And btw don`t judge people by their avatars. It could mean a simple sarcasm for all i know. Altough Michael De Santa is next to Niko my fav GTA protagonist. Funny huh? Yeah but that still doesn`t mean i should like the game. I only liked him as the main protagonist.

 

OT;

There`s also million things IV does better than V even tho it`s much older. Like the feel of the city. The feel of metropolitan area which is 5x bigger in the middle of star junction than in LS area. Even tho the LS on CG is bigger and more crowded the HD LC still feels more city-like.

Or the general vibe. Even tho there`s not much of an actual crime going on in Bohan i still have the sense of danger there. However i don`t have it in south central LS despite there are more "gangsters" hanging around than in Bohan.

 

The same goes for the peds. It`s nothing better to see than a couple of gentelmen peds who come to aid when you attack some female NPC and then they attack you. The peds feel more "human" in IV.

Also the fact that the gangsters carry any sorts of weapons not just the 9 mm pistols like in V.

Remember how in GTA IV, you have the ability to shove/push people? It's funny at times when you do that against people, and they fall down the stairs, cliff, or something else.

I remember being able to still do that in V, but it only works if you sprint against them, and then keep pushing them against a car or wall. Otherwise you won't get much ragdolling from them.

 

Here's a good one: The ability to dive out of a helicopter on full tilt and flying/sliding down the road, and surviving that, provided a car doesn't catch you.
