Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

A great thing in IV is when you shot someone near an edge or a high ground, they will suddenly behave like a ballerina.

everyone loves gta online ads during the beautiful loading screen

"The pursuit of the almighty Online". Fortunately, these ads only show up when your console is connected to the internet. Since my console is always off (only connect it to the internet for updates or assassination missions that include BAWSAQ) I have a nicer loading screen without all this sh*t about Online.

I can let them off with the Online "ads", they're really just tips and reminders of events.

TBH one thing I don't like about the "ads" is that the only artwork they show in the loading screen is that Beach girl, what happened to the awesome loading screen when you go offline?! Those artworks are cool, sure they got repetitive, but they were still cool.

Another thing I miss is the little tool tips that show in the corner, they were nice little reminders and even some I didn't even know about when playing the game after a few months.

I like V's loading screen a lot. Feels soothing and relaxing before the real mayhem begins. It's different to IV and EFLC titles, but still a very enjoyable loading screen.

The rain was done perfectly in GTA IV, I can say that. The rain was scripted in certain parts of the story, and I gotta say, it's awesome. It feels alive, with Niko's animation, and the pedestrians not covering their heads with their hands only. The scripted rain parts help show the darkness of the story.

The rain in GTA IV is awesome, very dark and atmospheric, makes some moments in the story a lot better. BTW I love Niko's animation when he open his palm when raining. Edited by The_Ghost

IVMP Racing is better :p

Probably because the map is better.

Nah the whole driving system is better. No off-road wheels that work around the city, no kerb-boosting (for the most part because of the map, lookup Broughy on YT for meaning), no stupid catch-up, magic speed bonuses from perfect starts. R* really f*cked up by dumbing down the driving on such a massive map. All my dreams were crushed ;( Maybe one day down the line, I'll be using Realistic Driving on a FiveM server.

Like I said, the rain was done perfectly in GTA IV, it looks amazing. Look at pictures like these, the rain fits well. It really shows the darkness of the game.

I already mentioned this million times but it`s such a great detail (especially when compared to V) that it deserves to be mentioned again; GUN SOUNDS, GUN SOUNDS and the f*ckin` GUN SOUNDS!!

I can`t describe a dissapointment i encounter everytime i go and play GTA V after prolongued playing of IV+ELFC. The gun sounds in IV just feel intense and loud, like they are suppose to be. Whereas in V they sound more like some child toys in the middle of airsoft party range. lol

I remembered the first time i played V when it was released and i was put in the prologue shooting. I was like wtf is this man!! When i heard that carbine rifle Trevor or Michael was shooting i almost couldn`t believe my ears. It felt so cheap, quiet, pathetic and toyish compared to IV`s carbine rifle.

So, yeah gun sounds all the way. Also the sense of the speeding down the highway, the vehicle damage system, the ragdoll, the helicopters that felt like actual helicopters instead of those toys in V. In IV, the hellis felt really heavy, they had weight to them, they felt much more real compared to V where you operated them like some child helli model.

and million other things as well.

Lol I swear you concentrate more on finding flaws in V than actually trying to enjoy the game, if the game seriously disturbed you because you didn't like realistic gunfire, you might aswell stop playing the f*cking game all together, hell, I have no idea how you made it through the prologue, you probably didn't like how the snow didn't look or how the colour of Micheal's shirt gave you a seizure.

I mean you do bring up some decent complaints about V, but this is pretty pathetic.

Eh. Gunsounds do sound generic in V, but they're tolerable. IV did a better job distinguishing gun from gun with audio.

Dude you`re really getting on my nerves. Just tell me why the f*ck you hang out in IV`s section if you clearly hate it so much? Please go back to your V`s den and we`ll all be happy.

Oh and btw, some V loving and C*-asskissing kid is the last person to tell me whether my complaints are legitimate or not.

EDIT:

I don`t mean to insult you @Stoney but you must have a really poor taste if you don`t see how flawed the V`s gun sounds are. Either that or you need to get your ears check.

It`s OK if you prefer V to IV, totally cool with that, it`s your personal opinion and you`re entitled to it. But saying that V`s gun sounds aren`t plain terrible is quite ignorant.

As someone who is real life gun enthusiast and who works in the military i sure am sensitive about how gun sounds sound. I mean let`s face it, no GTA so far didn`t know how to make a great gun sounds like RDR for example, even IV is far from realism in that aspect. I know how those gun sounds in rl, i shoot with them in daily basis believe me. So i can tell you the guns in IV aren`t even close to realism. But compared to V`s gun sounds they are like super, ultra realistic.

Are you trying to tell me that carbine rifle in IV doesn`t sound 100000x better, 10000x louder and 10000x more realistic than carbine rifle in V?

Or are you trying to bamboozle me with your opinion that says that V`s 9mm gun sound isn`t the most pathetic and toyish gun sound we ever heard in a GTA franchise?

Come on now.

The weapon sounds are a valid point. They are a lot better across the board in IV when compared to the ones in V.

That's a good point as well, if you are discussing the Vanilla 'timecyc.dat' files. I have seen some ENB's/IceEnhancer variants that wont be going into my Game. :)

Yes, I meant the vanilla timecyc. My iCEnhancer doesn't have those lensflares either. When used right they are decent, but put them everywhere and they're just clunky.

This post has so many things wrong with it that I don't know where to begin.

1. You're literally forcing my opinion on me, saying that I'm wrong and I need to get my ears checked, You're the one who needs their Ears and mental state checked, just because I think the gun sounds in V sound better than IV, doesn't mean I have terrible taste and ignorant.

2. You're acting like Raiden because you call me a "kid" in your pathetic attempt to be dominate on a forum.

3. Don't tell me to get out the IV forum when all you do is sh*t on V in both the IV section and V section, that's pretty damm hypocritcal right there.

I have stated this many times, but the IV section isn't your little circle jerk where no complaint can happen, so stop telling me to get out, it makes you look butthurt.

You worked in the Military? I doubt it, someone who freaks out about someones opinion is definatley something people in the military don't do. IV's Carbine rifle sounds like a firecracker.

Just stop playing GTA V if you're so mad about it.

Face it, you're trying to be more superior than a person on a forum, grow up, crybaby.

I play games using my speakers and normally run them at high volumes. gta 4 gun sounds rattle my couch, gta v gun sounds dont do anything. Even if i turn up the volume the gun sounds are so weak and flat that the speakers dont even produce bass. Its like the sounds in gta v were recorded using a soup can as a mic and a straw with spitballs as a gun.

To me things like weapon sounds come down to perception. I'm no gun expert so I don't think GTA IV's are realistic as such, but other than the pistol which I admit sounds like a cap gun they generally tend to have thunderous and thumping acoustics.

GTA IV's AK47 is one of my favourite guns because it sounds like it has real power compared to GTA V's which sounds weak and muffled.

GTA IV/EFLC, VC and GTA III have the best weapon sounds in the series IMO. No bias here I swear.

Agree on IV/EFLC. somewhat doubting VC since it's been a while, GTA3, eh. I'd disagree with 3 since I was, and still am an avid CS player, and 1.3 was out at that time. Comparing them, GTA3s sounds are flat out bland. I am accounting for Nostalgia, but at that time Counter-Strike seemed like the better pasttime once I got 100%.

Remember when you fail a mission, Niko has really funny dialogue of him being mad? It's worth failing a mission just to hear him being frustrated but hilarious at the same time.
