Things GTA IV did better than GTA V

Recommended Posts

I loved the power of bigger vehicles in IV. Hit a sedan in the side, watch it flip and catch some air, or skid on its side into traffic, a wall, pedestrians, just produces more ohsh*tohsh*tooooooohsh*t moments.

I hate how in GTA V all NPC cars are scripted to be twice as heavy. I really can't see why they did this, but it annoys me to no end.

I love the ambient sounds around Acter Industrial Park, I heard this continuous saw it reminded me of that meat plant in GTA III.

I like that the friends/girlfriends actually call. I know the "they call every 5 minutes" love to exaggerate, but to me the friends/girlfriends calling shows R* gave the system some serious thought with its implementation. In GTA V it feels like it was thrown in for no reason and watered down to the extreme.

No like/respect meter, no rewards, less activities. If it was removed no one would notice. Maybe it's not entirely perfect in GTA IV, but it's no where near as bad as it's given credit for. GTA V took the easy road by crumbling to the whiners that couldn't figure out how to put their phones on sleep or didn't figure out you could call them back to cancel said activity if you didn't want to hang out with them without losing "like".

The girlfriends or booty calls in V are such an afterthought you can just call the numbers and they'll pick up and act like they know you.

Tbh i don't want to hang out with any of the characters in V so it evens out.

Niko's walk cycle is a lot more natural than anyone in V.

I'm gonna take a guess and say that if they only released V for next gen and PC, it would be a little bit better than how it is now

I doubt it. Most of GTA V's faults are retarded design decisions, rather than console limitations. Besides, they're constantly making Online more and more retarded with every update too.

A lot of the sh*t that plagued GTA V last gen still hasn't been fixed on current gen like not being able to draw weapons inside of certain interiors, idiotic peds losing minds if you stand too close to them, the Terminator cops that know you've dropped a fart etc.

I like wounding my enemies, and hearing them beg for mercy. "Don't kill me, I have a family." "Tell my mom and wife I love them." "f*ck man, come on I'm sorry I didn't mean to try to kill you." However RDR perfected this, V was just a downgrade from both games lmao.

Edit: Plus wounded enemies would sometimes try to limp away, only for them to fall back down and moan in pain.

Anyone noticed that some cars when Nikko is driving have auto lights, you can see them come on when it starts to get dark, then they turn off again, noticed this a few times but not really on the pedestrian cars.

Been playing Watch Dogs and I find it hilarious how a man who gets broadcasted on the news as as psychotic vigilante murderer gets less harassment from pedestrians than the three protagonists who aren't identified by the media or police as criminals do.

GTA IV doesn't force unnecessary restrictions. If you want to shoot up a strip club in GTA IV it'll let you with ease yet GTA V won't let you pull out a gun inside of its strip club.

Hell there's been a few times I've wanted to shoot Jimny in cold blood, but the game won't let you fire at certain NPCs. Do the same in GTA IV? No worries.

The taxis in 4 actually playing different radio stations and different cab drivers with different voices instead of one guy who has a fixation for the ear rape that is east los fm. Plus sometimes he doesn't show up when called but in gta 4 you can see Muhammad on your mini map which was useful.

To be honest, that's an unfinished aspect in IV but still counts as a pro, even if it's not properly implemented is still more than V offers.

wow i cant believe im posting here. before i start i want to say i dont think gta 4 is better than 5. i think they are equal. but gta 4 is a great game. and there are things in 4 that could have been in 5.

the cop system. yes the cop system is trash in gta 5 i will admit that. the cops were more fun in gta 4. they were funnier and easier. it was sad to see the awesome cop system from gta 4 turn into a crappy system in 5.

longer story. gta 4 had much longer story. and it was a good one. the characters were more fleshed out. they had longer screen times.

more fun minigames. in gta 5 there arent many minigames. and the ones there are werent as good as 4. yoga is so lame. i dont even know why they added it. golf was ok. tennis is ok. gta 4 had a lot more fun ones. like bowling which i loved and i wish they would have brought it back. i liked pool too.

I have more fun going bowling than engaging in any of GTA V's side "content". Yep. That's how much of a let down GTA V is.
