Neither tbh. New Orleans has a strong French influence so you should probably find something more French sounding.

Not exactly plot/story related but may I pick yall's brains for feedback on how this HUD setup would look? 4 shows the wanted level, 6 is the health/armor, and 7 is the amount of cash you have. On one hand I really like it conceptually since it matches the amateurish sketch-ish aesthetic of the mid 2000s I'm trying to capture, but on the other hand I'm afraid some parts of it might be too overwhelming. Can anyone give me some pointers or feedback? Many big blessings

Looks great to me. Nicely done.👍

 

However, you might want to follow the traditional GTA HUD style (talking about something like LCS\VCS) because, really, don't mind me... don't you think the sketch seems a tad too "small"-ish to be comfortable for hypothetical\actual gameplay

 

What I precisely mean is the money, health\armor and felony indicators being too small and placed in tight spaces. Other than that, it looks lit.👌

Or maybe make it like RDR 2, place the wanted level, health, and money above the radar.

Bolden the typeface for the money and make it bigger as well

i love the aesthetic. i miss the days of creative HUDs (i always remember condemned for the xbox 360 cause of its HUD). if you're gonna make the icons bigger, just move the radar to the right. money probably doesnt need to be much bigger though since its not an urgent stat like the other two. one thing that would be cool is if the car and radio status had a different handwriting style

Im making a concept set in Executive City, which is based on based on Washington DC. Im Setting it in 1997 and i will include Blake City based on Baltimore, and Alexandria and Arlington. I don't know what names for Alexandria and Arlington, In the 90s Washington DC had a lot of crime. It was known as Murder Capital in the 90s.

...shouldn't you actually develop your already existing "concepts" first? Not that I'm trying to like, dictate but you had that Nawlings one, right?

yep i don't know what soundtrack should, i put for 1994 New Orleans. Do you think Memphis Rap fits in New Orleans you know its dark eerie sound for 1994, i don't know a good, radio stations i know New Orleans has Bounce. I know New Orleans has dark history.

You better write down that Executive Concept in docs first, outside of this forum. Don't post it until you think it has everything necessary (story, characters, info about the settings, radio stations, gameplay, etc). In the meantime, just try the best to finish finish the one you have posted here.

No news yet. Kirsty has been busy and we haven't had the opportunity to discuss what we can do.

 

It's a busy time for all of us. This is something that is going to take time to sort out. It isn't going to help to be negative along the way. Especially when we've been doing so well.

 

Look at what we've been doing lately. We've had more concepts in the last month than you've had last year. We've had a great turn out for the awards - the best since 2014. Things are sweeter than they've been in a long time. If you're looking to post a concept, we've already created a great environment to publish it in.

 

Kirsty initially got in touch about our ideas around community spotlight. This is a way for us to promote what we're doing here. I added to this that we'll fare much better with our own dedicated subforum. I also added that we'll be doing a lot to promote activity ourselves. And we've done a good job of that. We need to keep it up. As far as I'm concerned, we're in a great position for it to be considered.

 

But it isn't going to happen overnight. And this is something I have been clear on from the beginning.

 

I'm prepared and ready to go as soon as I hear back. This is going to involve things like expanding the concept section to include other Rockstar games and beyond. We will hopefully have the opportunity to contribute regular community content. I will be asking for all of this and it is going to take time to work out. It's going to be an absolute mission for everyone involved. Patience is appreciated.

 

Now, I'll be active this weekend and will be dropping some comments around our topics. I encourage you all to do the same.

You're a gentleman. All I can ask is you all keep doing what you're doing. And don't be afraid to leave a few comments around the place when things get quiet. We're at our best when everyone takes a little time out to post on our concepts. We all love it when we log in to a couple of new posts on our stuff, right?

 

I'll be a little more inactive towards the end of the month. I'm in the final stretch of my degree and taking all of my capstone subjects this year. Assignments are burying me. But you'll be in for a treat when I get back. 😉

GTA: Gusenberg is going to be really ambitious, both in terms of scale and graphics, and for that I'm both extremely hopeful and somewhat worried by its eventual posting. So far I'm almost done with the mixes of almost all the story-related radio stations, each averaging about 1 1/2 to 2 hours of music, and that's not even going into multiplayer-exclusive stations, which includes a massive techno/ghettotech/footwork station I have planned consisting of three separate mixes as well as DLC which includes a number of Kult FM-inspired radio stations and one Andrew Weatherall/Future Sound of London tribute station.

 

Part of the game plan for the graphics includes designing actual advertisements, rave posters, logos, mockups for brands and probably GIFs for the radio stations, maybe even some collaged/ditherpunk cityscapes and action scenes of Gusenberg just to get the tone of it all right. It is, after all a basis for a webcomic idea I have so I'm definitely more motivated to get the work cut out than I would Chasing The Dragon. Speaking of which I'm purposely keeping the scale of the map in this much, much smaller than CTD, roughly about the same size as Carcer City, but maybe slightly bigger with more neighborhoods, so its easier for me to write each district and area and I can pay more attention to the story and features.

 

CTD is far from finished, but for some reason I felt the need to post that in its current unfinished state, which was a really bad call on my part. Needless to say, I won't be making that same mistake for this concept. It'll probably take a lot of time before everything's ready to go, real life commitments not withstanding. I really hate making empty promises so I apologize for the lack of progress on said concept, as well as for anything else concept/radio station-related, to anyone who enjoys reading my stuff.

 

On a more optimistic note, if a concept sub-forum really is in the works, I'm definitely gonna keep an open ear to that, and maybe post it there when it's finally done. Meanwhile I'll just work on the concept whenever I can.

You've got a real knack for presenting your ideas visually. It always sets your work apart. The effort you put into making the guns and vehicles look appealing in London Underground was beautiful.

 

What are the chances of you mocking up some teasers for your radio stations with a couple of tracks on a flyer? Kind of like this?

 

And don't just stop at posting them on GTAF. Stick them all over the internet and show everyone what you're doing here. Spread the word wide and far.

Pretty high I'd say. I might experiment with Blender for lighting to get that 3D Y2K effect.

Mostly likely Tapas, Twitter or Line, maybe all 3. I'll announce it on the concept thread itself when it's ready but I plan to post a few one-shots as well as other series before I get to this one. This one's kind of a passion project for me.

I was wondering, how much RPG-esque elements is too much for GTA? Like, we've had heavy character customization before (San Andreas). I find GTA 2 to be the game with the most RPG influence, for its "Respect" system and its ending, but they abandoned most of that game's ideas. Other than those two there's some very basic surface-level character progression systems in work here and there but that's about it.

What's fair game to you within the GTA realm?

Is it too much if the game lets you cooperate with the police (not in a V "you're cia's puppet now" way), or you can get an early underwhelming pacifist ending (which isn't canon but is possible anyways)?

IMHO there shouldn't be much RPG elements in a game like GTA. Feeding and exercising CJ in SA always felt like a chore to me.

 

I think it should be like VC, where you can simply change between pre-defined outfits for your character, you can optionally eat food to restore health (but only when it's below max capacity) and that's all about customization\RPG elements. I know it'd be a huge step backwards compared to SA or V, especially for a fan-made GTA VI concept, but still...
