A possible San Andreas DLC for Manhunt 3: The Japanese Connection incoming?

I like to call it the "Andreas Vindication" DLC (working title), intending to start off in San Fierro right after the end of the main fanfic with a boatload of fresh, brand-new characters and a completely different, scratch-made protagonist. It will intend to setup it's own thing rather than pick any points from the OG story.

The Yakuza Stinger model was ported from GTA3 by @Spartan_112 and can be downloaded for SA from here.

While yes, a DLC for MH3: TJC is fully doable... I'm not gonna go this way with my fanfic because I'm already stuck constantly writing, editing and polishing TJC just to put it up here and make sure the whole set of the story is complete, and that you get the whole idea of it as I intended. Not to mention the original intention of TJC was to simply make a good, worthwhile and entertaining guy out of Kazuki and the 'fic strictly can't have any prequels or sequels expanding onto it's story anyway, so... I guess not.

Here's a new Radio station concept I got! It's for a second concept I'll eventually work on, It'll be set in 2006 and will take place in Carcer City and the surrounding area around it. It's basically the Radio X for Carcer City and acts as the Modern Rock and Metal Station for the time at least. Not much Nu Metal because that sub genre was dead by 06

Not a bad idea. Finding substantially established Yakuza in the West Coast makes much more sense than in Liberty City.

Yeah, sure, lots of potential in here. But IDK man, it just means way too much work for me SMH, I already have a sh*tload of work to do IRL and on here, so...

Plus the Yakuza feels hella smack-dab right in a New York (or atleast an NY-like) setting. Right at home.

Yo, Brother was amazing. It was amazingly corny in a good way. Kitano's obsession with his country's organized crime has pumped out some good bangers. "Fireworks" is also a good one everyone should watch.

Part of me wants to turn the rewrite of my Gusenberg-based Inner Circle concept (my final GTA concept btw) into an all out multiplayer/online-style concept, but at the same time I don't. I feel like the main storyline feels too divorced from the GTA-verse as far as style and connections to the existing canon and satirical elements go. It's pretty much a story I had in mind for my own comic idea, but I'm thinking of rewriting it to fit this forum and the series better, probably cutting down on the surrealist and fantastical elements of it to fit in with the more grounded nature of GTA IV (that being said the original idea would still be at the back of my mind), but that's probably too much work.

The multiplayer element is pretty much a reimagining of an ideal, more RPG-oriented version of GTA Online, though instead of being set in present-day Los Angeles, it's set in mid-to-late 2000s Chicago, after the events of the main storyline. You get to pick your role in the city, be it a hitman, a drug dealer, a carjacker etc. well as your character traits and role specializations (such as an industrial car thief who specializes in boosting heavy duty vehicles, for example.) and you get to create up to 10 possible characters, even giving you the option to create an ending for the character should you choose to delete them.

The upside to this is that this concept probably has the best music selection of all the concepts I've done so far (in my personal opinion). There'd be exclusive stations for the multiplayer as well as additional DLC, with genres ranging from late-90s hardcore hip hop, dancehall, metalcore, classic Chicago house and Britpop to more niche genres such as IDM/Chillout, ghettotech/ghetto house, breakbeat, UK Garage, neurofunk, dub punk, post-punk and trance, and several eclectic formats including a post-punk revival/grunge station and a pop punk/nu metal station. Overall it's very electronica-centric. If you like games like Midnight Club 2 and 3, Saints Row 1, Burnout as well as the early Gran Turismo games, you will definitely love the music.

And if you like weird cars as well as everyday rides from the late-90s and 2000s, well, you'd probably gonna enjoy what I'm gonna include in this concept.

I've been in the wiki before discovering this forum. I'm one of the only few active members that keeping the wiki alive. Now that I've stayed here awhile, I want to be more open about the solo project, and most importantly, to look for more feedbacks and ideas.

Light & Shadow started up merely as a simple project, until I take the route of making it focusing on cons to make it different. Some of the inspirations in particular come from TV series like Hustle and Leverage, as well the movie Catch Me if You Can. Cons is more than just doing white-collar or corporate crimes, and that's my point of interest behind this concept. Plus, this will follow that "classy" style of TBOGT, but with a more serious story.

I followed the link to your Wiki. You've got some really good work hosted on there! It deserves far more notice.

Do you mind me asking when GTAFanon Wiki was established? How many active users do you have there now? Would you be interested in encouraging these users over to GTAF and getting their projects up and running here? Is there anything we can do to support you over there?

I'm glad you've decided to work on Light & Shadow here. You'll find our forum is very friendly to the kind of content you create.

I'm intrigued by the possibility of a GTA concept based on confidence tricks and scams. This isn't something we've seen before.

The "serious" TBOGT style is also something I look forward to. TBOGT is probably the GTA story I relate to most. But the missions were just... such a departure from IV and TLAD. Most of them made absolutely no sense.

What you might find useful about TBOGT is the theme of having a network. Rockstar got this spot on.

In any occupation that involves confidence, whether that's running a con or doing a door, you need a network. You need to know people. You can make use of this and build a very unique approach to your own story and characters.

Keep us updated. And I strongly encourage you to stick as close to your original format as possible - you could set up your topic exactly the same as your Wiki post.

I dunno, what would you guys rather play? Or is this completely the wrong place to ask and I should be ashamed!?!?!?!

You're always welcome here, you sexy bastard.

I see your dilemma. Let's see what might work for you.

You are going to lose a lot by ditching linear missions. But this doesn't mean they have to be completely random and nonsensical.

I can give you GTAO as an example.

GTAO used to be a lot more linear. I would have a bash at it every Christmas or so on a free trial pass. Every time I'd create a character, I would do the Lamar race at the airport, I'd meet Gerald, I'd meet Simeon and steal my first car. Lester would eventually come along. There was a structure to it.

Now? You're bombarded with every heist prep mission from the go. There are characters popping up I don't even know who the f*ck they are. There is no mission structure. It's all focused on the latest content and getting you to grind for it. I had to Google what order I should do jobs in. It's sh*t.

Scarface: The World is Yours had a similar thing.

There were these missions called Felix Leads. You do a mission for one of Felix's contacts from a random pool of jobs and this sets you up with a drug connect. It might be transporting goods on land or on water. It might be shooting up a gang territory. It might be causing a diversion. Rinse and repeat until you get the yeyo.

Each mission - there were around ten for each of the four main areas in the game - would have a small blurb introducing it and the characters involved. "So and so is a top supplier in South Beach. It might be good to know them. Do this for them and they'll arrange a buy for us..."

But because they aren't ordered, you can be five Felix Leads in and the blurb will be introducing you to a character you already know as if it's the first time you're meeting them.

How would you get around this?

The trick might be to split your story into chapters.

You could introduce each chapter with a cutscene. This gives the context to what we're actually doing. I've seen you mod these before. You can do it.

Then you have 5-10-whatever random missions focused on getting to the next chapter. Let's say the main character in your story needs X amount of money. It doesn't matter what order the player does the missions in. They've just gotta get $10K. Then they get the next pool of missions.

And would you have the option of accessing these missions from a pause menu? If I wanted to access one specific mission, can I go somewhere to load it up? You might not have to abandon a linear story at all.

I would personally always rather play something with a story. But you can do this in a way that works for you. What do you reckon?

It'll be set in Carcer City in the year 2006. My idea of Carcer City is a fictionalized Philadelphia, many like for Detroit to be the main city that inspires Carcer but I feel it could go either way depending on what Rockstar will do for the city in the future

I'm always happy to see more Carcer City. When are you likely to post this? How far off are you from posting your 1994 concept?

Rockstar have left it wide open for what and where Carcer City could be. Philly is a good shout.

I really want to encourage more Online concepts. Online isn't something we've ever really tapped into the potential of.

I don't see why you should feel obligated to remain "canon" to the existing GTA world and its satire. Look at the official approach to online modes.

We've got flying bikes, orbital cannons, and all kinds of bullsh*t I have no idea how it ever found a place in Grand Theft Auto.

Just do your thing. I have more faith in you to remain true to your vision than Rockstar to ever remain true to theirs.

And if this is your last go at a concept, I have no doubt that just doing your thing is going to take you far wherever you go. It's been a pleasure to follow your work.

You know what? I've been actually thinking about that, once all four (or maybe five\six, IDK story splitting is weird) acts have been released, I'm gonna forge them all into one big post, with each act getting it's own spoiler tab.

But what I'm concerned about is the story being more of a fanfic than a hypothetical GTA\MH game concept.

I've been polishing the second and third (or maybe even fourth, the story's getting out of control) halves of the third act lately and they now do include minor gameplay snippets that improve upon MH1 and MH2's combat formulas like executing hunters with a Glass Flower Vase to gain a Glass Shard from the said weapon's debris, building Molotovs out of environmental stuff and so much more.

BTW progress on TJC is kinda stagnant nowadays due to IRL stuff going wild and OCD overshooting over simple things like file management, but I hope to bring the whole story to life and post it on here, I could do with some good luck wishes.

So anyway, IDK where and how the story's thread should fit, I expect myself to make a very simple topic with like six(?) spoiler tabs and a text-based header title (like the ones I have for my mods and my workshop). Or maybe someone like @Graven can hook me up with a neato artwork of all the Kasens' faces sleekly forged together or stuff like that?

And about that SA DLC, that was just a random mess around with a Yakuza Stinger car mod, I really have no plans to work on it... Once TJC is done, it'll be done away with altogether.

I've already postponed many other modding projects over it,  projects I planned to do all the way back in 2018 and they still haven't been worked on yet because of a random string of events. Things are crazy SMH.

The original story was split into chapters too, you'd do X missions for the low level drug dealer, X missions for the crooked detective, etc etc. in the sense that you weren't working for more than one person at a time like you would be in GTA. Although some of the missions you got from the contact were done for other people technically ("my friend wants you to do X so I'm having you do X", "this cop is blackmailing me and wants Y done so you gotta do Y"), but if you're just blowing through and not paying attention to the dialogue yea you'd think they were all given by the same person for their own intentions. Right now my mindset is going for something like what valve does with their games; the lore and backstory and stuff is there, but you don't need to get too involved in it just to understand the missions. Backstory, motivations, etc. could be conveyed through supplemental materials, dialogue with optional friends you can bring along with you to do missions. Conversely, if you just want to get into the game and do the action and not be bogged down with narrative, this also works too.

DYOM has it to where you can only access missions from a menu. I mean its not the worst and its certainly doable, but every mission is accessible from the start and idk maybe I'm just incredibly biased but it seems really inferior compared to how traditional games do it. It's like you're playing something disconnected from the gameplay imo

From the history log, it dated back to December 2008. 2014 to 2016 was when the wiki was at peak, then it get less crowded. I'm joined in late 2018, and yes, Light & Shadow is the only project I've worked on so far. Today, there's about 10 active users including me; new users constantly come and leave, some never return again. Hence why the majority of GTA concepts there left discontinued.

One of the problems with the wiki, I think, is that we lack something this topic has: open discussion, supports, and feedbacks. Things have gone better recently, though, and we're planning to sort and clean up all pages. I don't mind inviting others to contribute here.

I'll definitely post the topic as soon after I finish polishing and tweaking few stuffs.

thing I've come to realize that might be relative to you is that actual mission gameplay in GTA tends to not matter much unless its a kind of bridge mission that sets up the player moving on/branching out.  take mission threads in GTA IV like Manny cleaning the streets of Bohan or Gerry causing trouble for the Ancelottis; the action of those missions could be virtually interchangeable, mission givers says "find this guy, wipe him out" so in broad strokes having a handful of mission set pieces available to progress through could work.  one thing I like in the idea of having to complete X amount of missions for Tony Baloney before unlocking his final mission which would be more guided, say you're a gun for hire and a local mobster wants help taking out some drug runners, first mission would be narrative setting it up, second through to fifth missions would be generic action segments; burn down the drug runner's local watering hole, destroy their fleet of town cars, raid a handful of stash houses, ambush a drug deal.  last mission would be more narrative, Tony Baloney pats you on the back and says one of his guys has found the dealer's main stash, so he wants you to raid it.

I know I've gone off on a tangent a little but I think you've opened up a decent discussion about mission direction and how fast and loose you can play it with guiding the player.

GTA 1 had a somewhat similar structure. It was chapter based, the mission order was completely open and advancement was based on the player clocking up a set number of points. GTA Online like many other multiplayers uses XP for levelling up to bigger jobs and perks but then you also have pretty useless RP. I think it'd probably be better if RP points were put to better use since in the criminal underworld a high level of experience and a good reputation aren’t always interchangeable. XP farming is usually done through replaying the same missions so this would mean that in reality somebody is an experienced shooter perhaps but maybe can't drive for sh*t.

Reminds me of how in GTA 5, the missions themselves are f*cking great but the narrative is so f*cking dumb it makes me want to overdose on cough medicine. Conversely, GTA 4 has a good narrative but the missions are a snooze.

It might also be good for some of the creators from this forum to post their work over there and create a sort of relationship in the future where the wiki serves as sort of a companion site to the proposed new creator's subforum while also being open to other creators who may not already be active here. Wikis are a great tool for categorising and summarising a great deal of information in an easy to navigate forum and can serve as a written record of a large number of creative works all in one place that often leads you down an explorational rabbit hole.

Been thinking about a Mickey Hamfists concept. III era LC in either the early 90s, 80s or late 70s.

Get on it my man.

Mickey Hamfists as a young freelance enforcer, taking money from the Forellis, the Sindaccos and the Leones in late-1980s/early-1990s LC?

Has to be done!

Since the third act of The Japanese Connection still needs more work (it's even gotten itself split into three whole new parts!), here's a little lore expansion post and sneak peek on what's gonna happen next as well as a bit of "graphical concept" on how MH3: TJC should be looking as a game of it's own.

Note that the following is actually non-canon to the actual story, just promotional bits of self-spoken narration:

The Osada Crime Family are on full prowl of Kazuki, his family and his Crazy 68 clan, seemingly... "connected" to somebody inside the clan, or his family, or maybe both?

l0kUVbp.png

(Custom-made "Liberty City hurricane" weather settings up there using a special mix of VC's cloudy weather with foggy rain and enhanced trails effect, howzat?!)

Out in the night, Japanese men dressed in yellow suits and fedora hats speed out on their yellow, turbocharged Osada PCJ-600s to stalk Kazuki around town, seeking for each and every one of his tiny, puny little weaknesses... something Toshiko is also slightly starting to get her head into.

wipOEUa.png

(Yeah, I know the biker is Toni, but I can't change his model so let's just imagine him not... "being there" for a second.)

The representative color of the Osadas' Yakuza clan is yellow, and yellow is Toshiko's favorite color. Not to mention Toshiko's pre-marital surname was Osada so the yellow color and the Osadas always piss the hell out of Kazuki when present.

bOP2E2Q.png

Seeing them equipped with near-military-grade weaponry, turbo-charged sports cars and bikes, the Crazy 68 better watch out and keep a certain commodity safe from the slightly-overpowered, yellow-bellied bastards (no pun intended).

scghwo1.png

And so, the chase is on... whenever it will be.

s3DXtaS.png

(Ignore the open doors, had to do it to make sure the cars don't disappear.)

Welcome aboard.

Candy Suxxx is a very unique choice. This is something you're going to have to approach in a different way but you can absolutely pull it off.

Think about a documentary style. Take MAFIA III for example. The story begins with Candy reflecting on her life and success and a number of familiar faces talking about how she revolutionised the adult industry. We see Los Santos in the 1970s, Vice City in the 1980s and everywhere that came afterwards. The cities are characters in their own right.

Mission wise it's going to be a little trickier. You could pick out, say, five or ten key moments in Candy's career. Take inspiration from The Deuce. Let's say she begins by organising street prostitution in Vinewood. She has to fend off competition from bloodthirsty pimps. Then maybe she has the idea of putting these girls on film. She needs to rent a warehouse for filming but can't get cash. So, she goes out and gets it the GTA way...

You have all kinds of options. Candy needs her first pair of tits? She goes and robs the money. Candy becomes a high-end companion to the rich and famous? Your missions turn into information gathering events.

Just give us modern-day interviews with Steve Scott and Tommy Vercetti and I'll be happy.

More Asuka can only be a good thing. The Yakuza are popular people around these parts.

So she's shot but she survives. I can imagine her future being very difficult.

People might begin to think she's weak. She's in recovery and missing out on her best opportunity to seize control from the Leones. Plus everything that has to be tied up with Maria.

It's an interesting story to tell.

All of those are amazing ideas! The two fanfiction ideas are going to be in fanfiction form and be posted on Archive of Our Own. I have put those ideas on a Google Docs.

For Second Chances: I am trying to figure out on how Asuka is going to be rescued by either Claude who arrives for the note in "Ransom" or somebody else who is doing the cleanup and sees Asuka and Miguel.

For Star Freedom, I am trying to find an artist who can do different art designs for when Candy is growing up. Plus, planning out the full draft of what happened to her in after Vice City and Vice City Stories, along with the HD universe where Candy got very popular again in GTA V.

In both overall stories, trying to get the prologue written along with the first chapter. But suddenly, Discord RP servers and my upcoming Danganronpa crossover stories is taking a troll on me.

Plus, I have another concept idea to share. Since there are many Manhunt references in the GTA series, I have another fanfiction idea that will be a Grand Theft Auto x Manhunt crossover:

Fame, Jealously, and Bloody Friendships: An GTA x Manhunt crossover story. One day, Steve travels to Vinewood to attend the Vinewood Awards Show when his film got nominated for "Best Film Director". From there, he meets Lionel Starkweather, an another famous film director who makes p*rn movies. The two become friends as they communicate and help each other out. However, Steve's movies are getting very popular than LIonel's movies, leading to him becoming more jealous. Steve is starting to wonder if his friendship is a good idea or not. The final nail coffin was when Steve Scott won two awards in the award show three years later, crushing Lionel's future for his movies. Eventually, he tries so hard to get famous again, but his career ended in less than four months. When the events of Manhunt 2 began, Lionel wanted revenge on Steve so badly and decided to kidnap one of Steve's best friends, Candy Suxxx, and offer an $500,000 ransom to give to him or he can come over to rescue her in a very deadly and dangerous journey. Steve choose the hard part because he's not giving up his money to release him and now Steve Scott has to fight through the dangers.

So yeah, I am trying very hard to work on the stories.

A little correction, Starkweather used to direct "civil" movies, the text in his concept artwork says the quality of his films eventually dropped to plain retardedness over time and his career was later finished off upon being sabotaged by an unknown rival.:)

One of the completed mixes for Inner Circle.

This ones for a speed garage station. Use headphones for best experience.

Edit: here's another one! This one is a neurofunk mix similar to MSX FM, for a Drum N Bass station with two mixes (the other is similar to MSX 98).

I'm interested to see different interpretation of Chicago-Detroit that's not based on Carcer City. You can work on both, but I suggest you to work one at a time first.

I am working on a concept setting in New Orleans the year will be 1994 and 2006. In 1994  the city was ranked murder capital

and 2006 the city was destroyed in a Hurricane Katrina and it suffered Urban Decay. a lot of crime the city will be called Saint Priest

its located in the state of Louisiana. Saint Priest has the French Square based on French quarter and neighborhoods.
