Also I think it will redo the topic of SOTEOF, because of me being a victim of changed forum (the thing is I've had to stick all things in one post). Do locked topics deleted after a time, or they remain forever? If they're gonna disappear, I will need to carry all 13 chapters into the new topic.(Although I think that's no such thing, I want to be sure)

As far as I know locked topics are never deleted here. There are some that date back to 2002 around the boards.

After 30 days without a post the thread will stop appearing in the active topics list, but that's about it.

I haven't had any problems loading your topic like I have mine or Obsydian's but I think you're right. With all the content you have it's worth reserving 2 (or 20) posts.

Also if I were you, I would also post each chapter so far into your new topic rather than link back to them in the old one.

Call this dirty tricks but once you make the thread just keep posting the chapters every twenty minutes or so. Your topic will be on top of the page all day and you'll probably attract a whole new crowd of readers. Devious maybe... but if it pushes the sh*tty who's ur fav protag?1 topics down the page I'm all for it :p

I actually thought of it, keeping the old chapters in new topic would make it more stable, but I was curious that I would be like double-posting like a motherf*cker.

A new update for Vicio Imperia will come tonight but I'm not sure if I'm going to add a new mission tonight or not. I think I'm going to focus more on the actual body of the concept and getting that worked on so I can generate more interest in it and then start updating missions.

Well, I've gotten more work done than I thought I would, so depending on how things work out, you guys may be in for a surprise sometime tomorrow. Heh. Heh heh. Heh heh heh heh. Ha Ha! HA HA HA HA HA H-ack! *cough**cough*. Excuse me.

Okay, I accept defeat - I am unable to find anything new for the storyline for EC79. I'm stuck, can't comprehend the path the story is taking, I don't know what I should do next. Plus the amount of personal sh*t I've been through the past couple of weeks sort killed my imagination temporarily, I think. Or at least I feel like it did. Anybody feel kind enough to just give me a push, help me with the things round there so I can relieve myself of the block?

Alrighty, gave it a quick lookover: So, Javier has to realise that his relationship with Andreas isn't gonna end well. Javier seems like an ambitious and active guy, so he'd probably be looking at how to make the first move and either cut himself loose from Andreas or get rid of him completely. Three questions that are worth considering: What is Javier's goal(s)? What is standing in the way of acheiving that goal? How will he deal with what's standing in the way?

Sure, we can help, bengal. EC79 is an awesome concept and we won't leave it to blow like dust. First off, I agree with Severe. Somehow, Javier reminds me a bit Puerto Rican version of Tommy Vercetti and Tony Montana. He will obviously want to get out under the leash of Andreas. Andreas is one cold motherf*cker who is obsessed with satisfying his ego, that's why he puts a leash on Javier besides thinking that he has put fear on Andreas. The most reasonable thing IMO is to have Javier jump-start and run his own empire secretly from Javier, maybe throughout more of Nathan's connections. So I can imagine some Mafia II style sh*t. You know like Henry's deal with Triads and how bad it gets f*cked up later. That may be an alternative "go" for the story.

Thanks for the input, guys. This was a huge help. I'll try to write up the next missions soon, see what I come up with.

Hey, if you need more help, you know you can PM me. Don't be shy on hitting my mailbox. :D

The first bomb of Honorable Mentions will be on "Nostalgic Ancestor Concepts", however at the same time I've been keeping a pad for "Top Protagonists", now there are ten protags on my list. Let's see if some more will be added on. Also if someone is willing to help me, become my partner (so my concepts would be put into consideration), I'd appreciate it.

Surprise! Anyways, I tried to put two more posts underneath the OP so I could reserve spots, but they just merged with the first one. Weird.

Just give it a rest, man. Wait 5 min. for a new post. That's why my first SOTEOF topic turned up in f*ck. Also when I've posted my concept, the forum was recently renewed.

That's what I've resorted to doing. It just doesn't feel as "professional" I guess, having the content spaced out like that. Oh well.

Little preview of some of the voice actors that would be playing as characters in the two Carcer City DLCs, feedback and suggestions would be nice.

  • Kevin Conroy
  • John DiMaggio
  • Al Pacino
  • Jack Nicholson
  • Ron Perlman

Also, in addition to Honorable Mentions, someone should do Versus Battles that could range range from (for example) Fan-Made Protagonist vs Fan-Made Protagonist or Official Protagonist vs Fan-Made Protagonist. Also Versus battles could also include Antagonists and other characters.

Well, I've been considering these, especially I'm considering "Top Protagonist-Antagonist Relationships". However, also protagonist, antagonist comparisons would work, as long as the characters can be comparable and related. Rather than putting a winner, I mean looking over the character for their similar and different feature makes it better. For example Raymond Caine (Grand Theft Auto IV: London) and Trevor Philips (Grand Theft Auto V), seem to be comparable in some ways, considering that the both are total loose cannons. Let me show you what I'm planning for Honorable Mentions:

  • Top Nostalgic Ancestor Concepts (including concept threads like BAAFLC, TCOTS)
  • Top Protagonists
  • Top Antagonists
  • Top Anti-Heroes (some characters from "Top Protagonists" gotta turn back to this list, as a matter of fact)
  • Top Protagonist-Antagonist Relationships
  • Concept Threads with Best Gameplay
  • Top Concept Thread Assassins
  • Unforgettable Moments from Concept Threads
  • Top Recurring Characters (a list on original GTA characters making return on concept threads, such as Michael Townley of your concept, or U.L Contact from Tyla's VI: Vice)
  • Top Heists From Concept Threads (if possible)
  • Top Drug Dealers
  • Top Crime Bosses
  • Top Torture Scenes (if more torture scenes show up in concept threads)...

More may come, and I think we will be able to see the first one "Nostalgic Ancestor Concept Threads" very soon... it has been a simple list, but we're talking about nostalgic ancestors, right?

Double posting doesn't count as double posting if you have to link back to the post in some way. In my book at least.

I'll post after every chapter you upload to the new topic if you're concerned about double-triple-tredecuple posting.

First of all let me say that for my money I think you've got one of the best concepts around these forums - the first thing you should do is bump the thread and let everyone see it. Some of the responses you get may well be the key to taking things further.

I've been where you are. Lost all my story for Grand Theft Auto London, couldn't figure out where to take it next. What did I do? I started it over. Dare I say, I did it better second time around.

Your unique selling point with EC79 is you have so much setting and so many different stories. If things stay dry with Javier, why not switch things up to another protagonist?

Don't be afraid to start over if you can't get past that block. Kick back, listen to the soundtrack you've got and see what comes to mind. Smoke a bowl.

Surprise! Anyways, I tried to put two more posts underneath the OP so I could reserve spots, but they just merged with the first one. Weird.

The forum's messed up like that. I had the same problem - I'd post one after the other and straight after and the two would merge. Took about ten minutes before I could make a separate post.

There is a work around. Answer a PM or answer in another thread and you'll be able to make a post in your own again - no wait. That's not me suggesting you bump our threads to post your own or anything, but it works. ;)

edit:

Questions to all involved in the honourable mentions:

Am I allowed to submit my own content for consideration? No one else is likely to seen as the concept was long ago and most of those who supported it have moved on...

Second question: if there are things I want considered that belong to the concept but never actually posted, will these still count?

Lets say for example: I'd submit Derrick McReary and Bucky Sligo to Best Recurring Characters from Grand Theft Auto IV: London. Although I never finished their story, would I still be able to post something unfinished? The same goes for a lot of London content - there's much I'd like to submit to (Heists, Crime Bosses, Torture Scene) from what I created but never posted.

Okay, man. Now, I'm started to post chapters in the new topic, and two chapters already have been posted. Also I'm keeping the comments on the parts under them, because some of them are really inspiring, especially I didn't want to your comments become dust in the old topic... they're really inspiring, supervising and appreciable.

Sure. If anyone thinks they can do something for Honorable Mentions, there ain't no problem. I think these unfortunately nox executed plans for London would be likely how Vince Gilligan talked on his actual plans for Season 1 (Jesse gets killed by a psycho drug lord, Walt kidnaps the drug lord and brutally tortures him)... that would be excited.

I don't know how we can work this out, but that would be cool to see. If anyone thinks they can do something about it, a PM to my mailbox would be more considerable, if someone specifically wants do something for HR (especially if this is helping me with lists), this would be more paced up.

I would consider synopsing and posting what I had left over of London's story if Akavari ever became a regular around here again... ;)

I'll shoot a PM your way tomorrow about HR; or if you want to PM me before then and let me know what needs to be done then feel free. :)

So guys -- dilemma.

I've been trying to write a synopsis of Vice's opening story.

If you follow the thread (and if you don't - you should!) you'll know I've got ten parts to it - the protagonist's journey from the lower rungs of the criminal ladder to eventually obtaining an empire.

The problem I'm facing is that even with the first chapter - it's too bloody intricate to synopsise. I'm leaving way too much out. I'm wasting characters.

Are missions the way to go with this? Or should I just stick with trying to post the one big synopsis of the story?

I'd go ahead and start the missions. Since a synopsis wouldn't be as detailed as each separate mission is, you can explain all of the details there. I just wrote a brief 3 paragraphs to explain the basis of the story and it seemed to do the trick. Anyways, if people really want to know the story, they'll go ahead and read he missions because, after all, it is a concept thread.

Maybe just not give us all the missions, but only a couple of more pivotal missions, like ones where major characters are introduced or key events take place. And put in some brief summaries of what happens in between. That's probably what I'll end up doing.

Edit: And by couple, I mean something like a fourth of the total missions or something.

It's your call, but assuming that you also want to put depth on the story and characters (the way you talked on General Salazar and Charles Doberman makes me say this), writing mission could be much more better in terms of what you're trying to do. While writing parts for SOTEOF, I don't hesitate to open a pad document and immediately start over. I pick my pencil, take a piece of paper and write a detailed plot synopsis of the mission (not including dialogues or something, just the way how plots are explained in GTAWiki). Later, it's much more easier to put depth in the story. It would take too much time; I'm not strictly advising this, but all I can say knowing what you're gonna do from start to end can make you put the way you want right in.

For Gray Valley, I should have the first mission up sometime today. I'll be adding the Wanted Level section to the gameplay section and I'll be adding the Empire Building section sometime his week, hopefully.

Thanks for the responses fellas. I'll press on with getting missions done. I write on everything from bare walls to beer mats it's bringing it all together that does me in!

I'll be adding to the character bios and random encounters with characters I've fleshed out in the process of creating the story so far. Keep an eye out.

As for early concept threads... I don't remember any from 2007 but I do remember browsing on here back in 2004 for San Andreas cheats (f*ck, I feel old) and a chap called Medallion Man had an entire Grand Theft Auto: London thread that I've never forgotten. It carried on from GTA III and had Joey Leone running a casino in the West End, fighting with pikeys, chavs and Turkish Mafia. It was awesome. Unfortunately, I don't think the thread exists any more. The London Dossier from the same time has always been a big inspiration of mine, too.

Also - 200 posts in this thread already! Great to see so much activity going on around here.

ObsydianRaven

*Comes in riding in the DeLorean from Back To The Future* I'll be going deep into the forums' past using the Internet Archive and checking out some of the primitive concept threads. I'll see what treasures I can find.

I've been looking a bit more into radio stations and possible songs for VICE. Now, usually radio stations are based on music genres, but I've been considering instead, an all-British radio station (Maybe hosted by Kent Paul), that's just a big mixed bag of all genres and decades, but only British (English, really) artists.

Like Queen, Spice Girls, the Cure, Fatboy Slim, Blur, Jamiroquai, Gorillaz, Amy Winehouse, etc, just a bit of everything, all held together by a cockney DJ.

Would that be too 'schizophrenic' in tone?

I can't say something exact, but England has lots of cool artists/bands (Queen, Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Cure, Rod Stewart, Iron Maiden...), would make a great population and variety of songs.

I'm somehow facing a dilemma. Would you help me?

I mean, I actually, think "Hot Wheels" characters are weird and the story is weak. Today, when I was reading 4th mission (2nd race), I felt it's really not what everyone expected.

Do you have the same feeling as me, or, are you pleased with Hot Wheels in any way so far?

Liver Buster

There's no problem with "Hot Wheels" specifically, I loved that tough Korean guy who shows a classic sharp type of a street racer, but I think how Kate involved with Alfie during the last mission was kinda rushed. I think it'd be better if it was NOT intentional. For example, Alfie takes Andre to a small bank for having him withdrawal some cash, at the same time Kate hits the same bank (we know Kate is a girl with "balls", right?). Kate leaves the bank with a duffel bag of money, and she holds Alfie in gunpoint and has him drive for her. In this point, Alfie must lose the upcoming cops and drops Kate at her home. Kate says him to come back later, so she can give him a cut from the heist, because he saved her ass from getting pinched, right? When Alfie pays Kate a visit at her home, Kate gives Alfie his cut, but at the same time Kate is informed about the driver who chickened out and left Kate behind on the job (yeah, this could be a good sub-plot). Kate's contact who is one of the organizers of the job tells her that the pussy driver has been found by the Feds, and he agrees to sing his little ditty. This would be a better beginning connection between Kate and Alfie. So Alfie accepts helping Kate with wiping out the rat. So they burst into his place, kill him and shove his body into the trunk of a car (this would be even Alfie's car), only to have it destroyed along with the corpse. I mean this would form a cause how Kate and Alfie get together, and how they can stick together for stiff jobs. Also in addition, if you make Alfie destroy his car along with the body, it would make Kate promise Alfie to help him get a new car, this would prolong their introduction story. I mean your stories are good, nice, satisfying but the general weak point in your stories is how you try to connect something with another thing, or introduce them in a common way. The biggest problems you should take care of is that, IMO.
