The Notorious MOB

Apparently there are a heap of people named John Burke. There are a couple of people named Raymond Carter, too. Huh. The more you know, right?

I was thinking about making a Vice City Expansion concept as sequel to my Liberty City Expansion. The only road block is that I'd have to create characters out of whole cloth since the HD Universe hasn't been to Vice City yet. However, I think an expansion in Vice City would have a lot of potential.

To begin with, I'd do a San Fierro or Las Venturas DLC before Vice City. People are pushing for Liberty City as we've already been there in the HD Era, so it would be interesting to return. However, San Fierro and Las Venturas would be more appropriate to return to because they are more closely related to Los Santos. I'd save Vice City for last.

If you are going to do Vice City, you already have some characters. The player could aid Jerry Kapowitz with his gun shop in Vice City, and in return get weapons. The Angels of Death are situated in Vice City, so you could easily involve their Vice chapter. Love Fist could make an appearance in order to give the player jobs to help them gain popularity once again. We know Al Di Napoli lives in Vice City, but his inclusion could be a bit problematic, considering the fact that his future is dependent on the player's actions in single player.

I think Las Venturas would be your best bet. Although it would provide a smaller playing field than LC it would offer more in terms of glitz and gambling which seems to be something that Online players crave. I don't think Rockstar would pass up the opportunity to include LV in a full game though so it being released as a simple add on for V seems unlikely. I still wouldn't let that stop you though.

I agree with you. Las Venturas has more to offer in the terms of GTA Online and the direction that Rockstar has taken with it. The problem with including Liberty City in with V's gameplay would be that fact that Liberty City has smaller roads that were built for IV's driving mechanics. Los Santos has larger, more open roads that are perfect for V's driving mechanics. Like you mentioned, casinos would finally be available to players after a long wait. Those are the selling points of Las Venturas. There would be more risk with your money in Venturas, but there could also be more to spend it on.

There aren't a lot of characters that we know of, but the Paulo family is a prominent family in Las Venturas. It would be easy to incorporate them somehow, whether it be the player helping them or going against them. Another opportunity you have is to use the Science of Crime: Las Venturas for missions. The way I see it, the player would need to help the producers get ratings for their failing spinoff, and in order to do so, must perform dangerous stunts and gunfights.

So I'm thinking of expanding Lonestar's map to include parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Louisiana. Not only would this expand the map, it would also add diversity as well.

How big of parts are we talking here?

What comes to mind with those states are Roswell, the Grand Canyon, and swamps. I don't know what you have in mind, but I don't see much diversity apart from Louisiana. Arizona and New Mexico are more desert, for the most part, so I'm waiting to hear what you have in store for them.

For Arizona and New Mexico, I was thinking of including the southern half of each state. However now that you mention it, I guess you're right in terms of diversity. Now that I think about it, Texas itself is pretty geographically diverse as well so the diversity is already there, and the map of Lonestar is pretty large as of now (So far I have almost 30 towns and cities that will be included within Lonestar itself, not sure how many towns and cities will be in the Mexico portion of the map).

Texas is massively diverse by itself, so the inclusion of other states would seem gratuitous. The easternmost part of Texas is very similar to Louisiana, as both have a large amount of marshland and swamps. Parts of eastern Texas are deciduous, so thick forests would vary greatly from the arid desert areas that the state is known for. Plus, mountains are throughout the state, so the vast areas of nothingness differ from the populated cities.

I'm always thinking to make a concept based on the tri-state area in the North (Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan) and I already started making a map for Indianapolis parody. Besides Detroit, Dearborn, Lansing, Chicago, and Indianapolis, which towns/cities should I add based on the three states above?

Since my concept is exactly the same, and it's cool someone else has interest in the same area, I can help you out a lot. Obviously you have your large cities, Indianapolis, Detroit, and Chicago. Here's some more cities and towns you can use:

  • Ann Arbor, Michigan-A very left-wing city. Apart from that, there isn't much. Crime is below average, so you could easily poke fun at liberals and gun laws.
  • Fort Wayne, Indiana-A very detailed city. It's very artistic, and full of parks. It has one of the best zoos in the world, so you may use that. Also, meth.
  • Aurora, Illinois-A suburb of Chicago. Not too many interesting cities in Illinois, I'm afraid. Wayne World's took place here, so Rhapsody's could be abundant.
  • Small towns-Be sure to add numerous small towns throughout the countryside. Small towns, large farms, big red barns, etc. Those are natural sights in between the cities.

Be sure to hit me up when you need help of suggestions on anything.

Also, I've decided that my Detroit parody, which I've named Carcer City, should no longer be named Carcer City. It doesn't fit as well as I thought it would have. So I need suggestions on names for that city.

I called Detroit "Fleetwood" (Cadillac's iconic car), and Dearborn "Henry" (Ford's HQ is located in Dearborn). Indianapolis will be called "Hoosierville" (I dunno if it's offensive for Indianapolis citizen, but what the hell), and Chicago "Acadia" (pretty much the same name as Testarossa's map concept, because it will be set in the same universe). I don't have name for Lansing and other cities that you suggest (although naming Aurora "Wayne" is very plausible).

^^Hoosierville sounds like a cartoon show.^^

Speaking of cartoons, i'm writing a psychopathic character for my Carcer City DLC, i want to avoid to have a lot of paralelisms with Trevor, so question is: should i have him being a two face twat (fake and educated in front of you but shows his true face when alone or being an jerk all the time)

I already wrote most of his parts in what i think is a middleground between both, but couldn't hurt to work more on his personality.

Like hypocrisy? If so, I'd say go for it. As a matter of fact, all GTA protagonists are hypocrites, more or less... as I believe that it makes them strong characters, and generally offers the conflict they're supposed to be dealing with. For example, Claude is after a quest of revenge in some ways but he generally ends up doing things against what he's supposed to be avenging. Like, he whacks Kenji so Donald Love can make more money on estate dealings, parallel to Catalina's betrayal which is more or less based on taking all the money herself. Even Niko is a hypocrite, I'd say his hypocrisy is a bit righteous one but he's still a big one, notably. He says that he's trying to keep violence off his life as possible, but we see him carrying out contract killings solely for money (and to reach Darko) which he needs to build a better life for him and his cousin. Better example yet, during the mission "Hostile Negotiation" where he tells Roman to stop debting himself to the Russians because it risks both of their lives, but he continues taking part in schemes to screw over Russian intentionally or not...

An example from myself, my concept SOTEOF's protagonist Kane is also a hypocrite. There's a side of him caring about the "gang" concept: in a way, he's a traditional gangbanger who prioritizes the bonds between fellow gangsters and cares about their safety, but there's also a three-bit gangster in him: he tries not to miss a chance if it will make him more prestigious. Sometimes, his hypocrisy is for greater good, gotta give him credit for that but... I don't exactly know how much of a saving hero he can be considered. Also, it's one of the biggest themes forming my story and the backbone of Kane's transformation: All the white inside Kane slowly dies as the story progresses, while he becomes more and more grayish...

In short, like I said, hypocrisy is good to build a character, especially in GTA, a game on criminals. Your protagonist also kind of sounds like a sly fox. He'd act like quite a character around other people to impress them, so this would offer him some new job opportunities. When alone, his cynic nature would hit, frequently bitching about the people around him... Also, I'd try to give some little indications on his psychotic persona when he's around other people. Because, let's admit it: criminals are bad degenerates, no matter what and I'm sure they like (especially higher-statue ones) live wire, crazy, angry, happy-trigger bastards to an extreme level, some sort of criminally passionate love.

You hit the nail right on the head, everytime someone leaves, you can be sure he will be insulting him at his back.

I took inspiration from Victor Vega, a person who tries to appear cool and smooth, but is actually an egomaniac and a sardonic motherf*cker when angered (the jewel robbery is a good example of this), but....he ended up being an off-puting guy without a filter, kinda like Patrick Bateman at most times, which actually closes a door for him in the storymode.

He slips from time to time, specially with people he's not fond of or is weaker than him.....or when he didn't took his medication, i have to be careful when writing his scenes with the other two protags, don't want him to be clingy like Trevor but not completly apathetic because it would ruin the dinamic of having three protags, he has ulterior motives to hang with the other two, purely an interest in people who's useful, just a fake person in the most pure sense of the word.

I'm including the whole state, as it's such a geographically diverse place.

Also on another note, you guys should check out this photo gallery I found online. It's a collection of pictures taken throughout Texas between 1971 and 1974. Even though the most recent pictures in it were taken a few years before Lonestar's 1977/Disco Era setting, it's still an excellent glimpse of Texas during the 70's.

Damn that's ambitious I'd leave out New Mexico and Arizona so. Keep in mind though map size isn't everything especially in a concept. It's always better to have a great story and good features rather than a massive theoretical play area.

I was thinking about a Las Venturas concept. Something separate from GTA V, perhaps a spin-off. Are there any characters in the HD Universe that reside in the LV area? I was thinking Phil Bell could've retired out in a desert town. I'm imagining that LV would be in the center, while there would be surrounding desert. I've never been to Vegas, but does that sound right?

There's Vic Manzano (The guy whose girlfriend had oral sex with Luis while in Bahama Mamas). He was supposed to be in LV when that happened, if that counts.

Venturas is good. From what I remember, Vegas is a sh*thole once you get off the strip. Huge drugs and homelessness issues. Like Detroit, it's a great option for the next GTA because for a lot of people the American Dream died in Vegas.

Great idea about Phil Bell. He was always into sports betting and other gambling, so in Venturas he'd fit right in. And considering how family friendly and tourist-trap the strip is these days, Yusef Amir or his father wouldn't seem out of place at all.

Be pretty cool if Roman popped up at a gambling table somewhere. Even better if Niko's vacationing out there with him.

Which is what I'm trying to do with Lonestar. For example, the first chapter of the story takes place in East Texas, and deals with the protagonist getting involved with the local Dixie Mafia, as well as defending a man from white supremacists.

And, oh. My minds on another concept, 'The Motor City Stories'. It involvs two story lines like the DLC in GTa IV. One about a MC underground bigwig ruling the narcotics trade and building stripclubs. Another about a schizophrenic Pole thinking that the world is a videogame and working as a contract killer.

I was thinking about ideas for the backstory of my Liberty City Expansion. Obviously a lot of things change after seven years. I'm probably going to get rid of Tony since he moved away, and have it so that now Luis is the one running the clubs as his successor. You guys may have noticed that Radio Broker has a new DJ, Alan Wilkis (of Big Data fame). This is to correspond with Juliette Lewis' band breaking up and her largely leaving music. I think that the [email protected] internet cafes have no use now that we can browse the internet on our phone, so their buildings have been closed down.
