@TheRevolution: If you're going to do a Boston setting, I'd stick with doing protagonist who's fully Irish. Also I'd recommend having a story revolving around ongoing rivalry between the Irish crime families and Boston's single Italian crime family. As for the year, I'm not sure how 1990 was in Boston but from what I've read, 1995 was a bloody year of fighting between the Irish gangsters. The reason I'm using 1981-82 as time period for Puritan City, is because the late 70's and early 80's was when the Irish mob was sending their people to infiltrate the Massachusetts State Police, which will play a huge role in Puritan City's story along with the Irish-Italian rivalry I mentioned before.

Thanks for the suggestions, Obsydian. I'll be sure to take them into account.

About the half-Irish half-Italian protag, I wanted to use a protag like this to maybe add a different dimension to the story where the protag can work with both the Irish mob and the Italian mob. AFAIK, the Irish mob has had a few Italian and half-Italian members but the Mafia didn't have irish members so there's that. I'm still working out the specifics of how he's going to be associated with the gangs so I should be okay with that, I think.

I'm not really 'down' with anything for the year just yet apart from that it's gonna be set in the 90's, but now that you've said it I'll research a bit more into '95. Thanks again for the suggestion.

By the way, Puritan City, is that what you're naming Boston in your concept? Originally I was gonna go with Tremont City from East Coast '79 but then I decided to go with something sounding a bit more like a New England Metropolis, but I'm having a hard time figuring one out. Any ideas?

Hi Rev. Welcome back man. :)

I like the idea of an Italian-Irish protagonist... Steve Flemmi and Johnny Martorano spring to mind. Maybe others could go into more detail but I'm sure they were a crew who worked at first for both the Italians and the Irish and then allied with the Winter Hill Gang later on.

If The Friends of Eddie Coyle and Cogan's Trade anyway inspire the story, you can count me in for the ride.

Puritan City I chose because it's one of the nicknames of Boston. I think Tremont City is a good nickname.

Speaking of locations, here's the list so far of locations to be featured in Lonestar.

There will be more locations to come. If anyone has any ideas for locations to include, names for locations, or general opinions, feel free to let me know.

Heh, nothing quite as exciting. I love the speculation though.

Thanks for the warm welcome back all!

About GTA Acadia (yep, that's its name.)... Well, I've finally started working on the story, which is a great start. What I'm thinking is this.

Geoff Barkley (the protagonist) is a 30-something year old from Carcer City, he has a troubled past because of his family's affiliation with gangs, and now it's his time to join the Underground Street Racing Syndicate (or USRS for short). Now, the USRS is this big gang that has dominated the streets of Acadia for decades, but it's reputation has been severly affected by wars with local gangs and whatnot, causing it to slowly fall apart. Geoff tries to gain reputation to get the gang back on it's feet, which causes the attention of crooked cops that want to kill him for a crime he didn't do. So, he is the victim of a large manhunt across the state.

Well, that's sort of incomplete as you can see. So feedback and suggestions are appreciated. :)

I like this idea. I can imagine the protagonist being someone like Ryan Gosling in Drive.

For suggestions, this is mine. Why don't you reconsider the protagonist joining the Racing Syndicate and have him working to finish it off instead? Build up his own empire or crew? Imagine the Syndicate run everything, and they have all the driving work in the city sewn up. A new driver in town can't get any work because the Syndicate control all the major league getaway driving, the smuggling and so on. They rig all the races and maybe in the beginning the protagonist places first in a race he shouldn't win so for kicks they beat him up and set his car on fire, so he has to do some work outside of the driving seat for a while, and build up a rep. Because the Syndicate has several drivers and there's only so many jobs to go around, it's more profitable for him to go out on his own.

Corrupt cops are always good. Ever see the movie The Driver? I liked the set up that film. The cop basically figures the driver is too good for him to catch, so the cop sets up a robbery of his own with the plan being he catches the driver in the act. He really loses his sh*t and starts killing everyone involved. It's worth a watch if you're looking for inspiration. :)

What's your inspiration for using Chicago as the setting?

Can't believe I forgot about this, heh.

Well, I did start with taking Drive as an inspiration, but I'm also planning to take elements from movies like The Fast and the Furious, videogames like Need for Speed, The Crew, etc. And pretty much that's why I chose Chicago, since it gives that gritty, underground feel. Hell, I might throw in a couple of references mocking Watch Dogs or something like that. :p

I want to give that feel of being a mix of a racing game while still having that traditional GTA feel, to be honest.

Homemade Dynamite

Black Sunday characters. I have more coming, but this is what I've thought of so far.

Ellie Hills

Age: 26

Ethnicity: Caucasian

The fourth protagonist. She's a British orphan and her parents were business-people involved in shady things. They made one trip to Blaine County ten years ago to work a deal TPI in order to control the flow of drug dealing in the Blaine County area. They tried to be civil about it, but did not expect the kind of person they were dealing with. Long-story-short, the deal went south and Trevor murdered them in cold blood. Once Ellie learned of this back home, she swore an oath of vengeance that she would one day kill Trevor. Ellie took up the life of an assassin, and raised her profile significantly with each high-profile target she killed. After several years, Percival grew interest in her, and paid handsomely to have her be his own personal right-hand assassin. With her client waging war against the three men who caused him so much trouble, this provides the perfect opportunity for her to carry out his commands, and see to it that Trevor dies. Not all good things are meant to last, as Percival plans to dispose of her once she has outlived her usefulness to him.

As the fourth protagonist, her missions work against the other three protagonists. You'll have her assassinating important targets connected to MFT, sabotaging buildings that provide them resources, taking out Lester's contacts, and ultimately try to kill them. Like the others, she's not without a special ability. Press the two analog sticks, and she'll blend into shadows and with crowds, allowing her to preform one-shot kill sneak attacks, and see enemies and valuable targets through walls. She's also the only one who can crouch, giving her a stealth advantage.

Don Percival

Age: 47

Ethnicity: Caucasian

The founder of Merryweather. He's committed a massive amount of atrocities overseas, either directly or indirectly. He's always hungry for more power, and has a lust for revenge after MFT humiliated him three years ago. With Devin Weston out of the way, it's time he steps into the ring himself. With his golden girl Ellie by his side, he will see to it that they die, and once she's no longer useful to him, she will die too. Merryweather may no longer have the authority operate at home legally... but who said revenge had to be legal?

Ria Fox

Age: 24

Ethnicity: African-American

Franklin's new girlfriend. They've had a good relationship, and she's managed get him off the herb. Unfortunately things get strenuous when his life gets flipped upside-down by the return of Merryweather, and she becomes a target for revenge...

Marco Benjamin

Age: 28
Ethnicity: African-American

One of Franklin's old "friends" from back in the day. He just got out of jail, and is already trying to come up with hairbrained get-rich-quick schemes. He's constantly getting him and Lamar into trouble, leaving Franklin to have bail him out.

Phil Bell

Age: 48

Ethnicity: Caucasian

After the Pegorino family collapsed, Bell fled to Paleto Bay in order to live a quiet life away from crime. Unfortunately, he's forced back into it when his wife divorces him and threatens to take away everything. He meets with Michael, as the two older men organize their resources to pull off a heist on the Vinewood Casino.

So what would you guys think if I included choices within the storyline that affected the entire way that the story would progress?

For example, X tells you kill Y but you are given a choice to kill or spare Y. If you kill Y, you keep working with X but if you spare Y, you work with Y and betray X so basically a slight overhaul of the "kill or spare" system we've seen in the past GTAs. However, a major drawback I find to this is that it would make the concept thread a bit too messy, as there would be different strands of missions and different sets of dialogue in certain mission for certain choices made. So, how should I implement it?

Also, would "The Tough and the Twisted" be a good name for my concept?

If you have your heart set on it, then first single out the path that is most important to the story. That way, you can take the possible missions from other paths and make them into "alternate missions". How you would go about posting them is up to you, but you can always post them as "Alternate Mission 31: Fight or Flight", and so on.

This silence is beginning to creep me out.

On another note, I just had this wild idea about a feature I think I might be implementing in my concept (which, unfortunately probably won't be coming out until at least April) - Diaries.

The idea is basically a diary that you can use to replay missions you've already played, but apart from that it will also contain some 'unplayed' missions which are basically the player character's exploits prior to the starting point of the main story. Since I am planning to have a protag who remains a fugitive for a long time before returning to Tremont City at the beginning of the story so I think it might be an interesting feature. Also, the diary might contain more information about the protag's exploits in Tremont City's gangland before his status as a fugitive. So, how would it go?

@ClaudX - thanks for the reply there. I appreciate the idea you've given and that's how I'm going to wrote the story from where I am right now. Thanks.

From what I've seen, 2015 hasn't been the best year for concepts. Hopefully 2016 will change things around.

After coming within inches of loosing my laptop, I'm finally up and running again, and whilst I was checking all my stuff was still alright, I noticed something that surprised me; how varied my characters are for GTA VI! Out of a total of 59 primary, secondary and minor characters I've got 24 made members of the Lombardo Family, 16 associates, 6 members of the Pegorino Family, 2 made men representing the Gambetti's interests in Carcer City, 2 FIB Agents, 2 CCPD Officers, 4 thugs and 1 sharp as knives gang leader from the projects and low rises of Redford, 1 suffering mobster moll and finally, a single snake like half Italian half Hispanic son of a deceased mob family boss, scorned and bitter from being considered an outcast and used as a gofer, and he's just one a few secondary antagonists that Philly has no personal problem with, and in some ways feels the same way as thse outcasts, but has to deal with in the interest of business, leading to Phil's later attitude;

"You're gonna learn that there ain't much in this life that you got control of. Whether you're putting yourself in harm's way because that's the way The Skipper wants it done, or you're staying away from your kids because of a stupid court order and a malicious bitch of an ex-wife. There ain't that much control in anything."

Essentially, if Phil wasnt a childhood pal of Jimmy Pegs, he'd have been a nobody, but its gotta be better to be half a wiseguy than a full on fool of a guy, working two jobs to maintain a sh*tty Declasse from the seventies and have two kids with your bitch of a wife in some Alderney tenement, right?

The Dedito Gae

Well, i don't post neither here or the map mapmaking thread, nevertheless, i'm still on my concept, i even pm'd someone for future help with a russian protag and have most of my Carcer storymode concept done, i must be in the middle of it and is being pretty fun to write, i just have to complete it, read it 50 times and send it to my man ClaudX for a spellcheck, i'm also adding related screenshots of the news and bleeters regarding the mission below, just something to give inmersion.

Finally, i also decided to write first every DLC before the main game, reason is they are all prequels and should be less restrictive that the other way around, so the wait has been made longer, hope it's worth it, it's gonna be full of cool sh*t like talking dogs, bank robberies, angry burned bikers and such.

Also, would "The Tough and the Twisted" be a good name for my concept?

Sounds too much like the Lost and Damned.

If i were you, i wouldn't use Trevor, i would create another character to fill that role, more so because T's fate is up to the player, so there's no chances of him showing up again.

Aaaaand, I'm tired sick of trying to fix GTA: Motor City.

Started writing on a new concept, Grand Theft Auto: Cold Crime. One would play as Bohan hoodrat, Tyrone, who rats on his gang and is put in a witness protection program in the very north of Sweden. The game handles the ruthless (somewhat fictional) ways of norrland, and how Tyrone manages to gain trust and respect in the Swedish underground. Much like the Swedish movie 'The Hunters', the game revolve around hunters armed to the teeth with rifles and cold blood. Unlike the movie, these hunters carry out a rather large drug operation that Tyrone will become a part of.

Feedback?

Sounds good, but a snitching Bohan ghetto gangbanger being put into Europe as part of WWP seems pretty exaggrated. Even in GTA V, Lester said that so for Michael who was marked as one of "the most wanted criminals in America" by that time he did that deal with Norton. The same even goes for Sammy Bottino as far as it's seen; he was the underboss of the biggest Italian-American mafia in the States but he was put in Los Santos as well. Why not make him the part of a bigger crime syndicate?.. I don't know maybe an interglobal smuggling operation or a drug cartel. Other than that, it seems promising.

By the way, why are you dropping Motor City? It's one of the most interesting concept here done recently. I'd suggest you to continue working on it (and I'm sure if you state what the problem is, lots of us will be eager to help you) but it's your choice of course.

@unholy: My idea is to vaguely base this on a Norwegian tv-series that aired not too long ago, Lillehammer, where the main protagonist could choose his location of WWP. Tyrone would maybe have some sort of connection with Sweden.

I'm happy you enjoyed Motor City. Reason I'm thinking of dropping it is mostly because of the language. There's really not many movies feauturing the grit of Detroit, and it's rather difficult for some baked suburban Swede like me to write dialogue for characters from east Detroit.

That's why I would like to write a concept with dialogue that I can relate to. I grew up in the north of Sweden, and I know many whos snus (swedish tobacco, google it) can reach to the moon and back.

Motor City, has nonetheless a pretty well written synopsis to be honest. And it would be a shame if I completely lost interest in it. I will try to write down some gameplay and maybe gain some inspiration to write more dialogue. With great risk of sounding like a whining turdface, I guess what I also need is more motivation. I need more people to read through this text and tell me what they think. Whether this is done through a simpple like or a long essay I don't care, I just need some attention, god damn it. ;)

I can sympathise. I mean, not being able to relate to the dialogue in the 70's was one of the reasons why I dropped my old concept, after all. I sort of regret not having done a bit more research into the setting before sitting down and writing it but anyway now that's ancient history.

By the way, I gave your concept a quick read and it can still be fixed. I think one of the reasons your concept isn't getting the attention it deserves is because you're posting the missions in spoiler tags. Among the other spoiler tags in the main post, they get easily overshadowed and unnoticed by the readers. I think you should try to post the missions in seperate posts like everyone else does because hey, you're gonna have to do it either way when you have more missions and your first post is full. :^:

On another note, I have sketched up a few (3, to be specific) characters for my Boston concept however take note that they are still under development so not everything about them is described below. They are mostly based on real-life mobsters but will have a few differences with their real life counterparts so that they don't end up as carbon copies of Boston mobsters. I hope the names sound a bit more authentic this time (MOB, help me out, will ya :) ).

Louis Simeone

The 36-year old protagonist of the story. Born to a Sicillian Migrant and Irish-American mother, Louis entered the world of crime through his older brother, Willie Simeone, a notorious hitman with ties to both the Irish mob and. Simeone himself has never been directly associated with the Irish mob apart from his older brother's affiliations with the mob's former boss which had him aligned with the mob in some of their business ventures. Louis had spent most of his early years in the Red Light District of Tremont City running small-time errands for club owners and Mafia Soldiers. In 1979 Simeone evaded arrest for allegedly fixing horse races and spent the next 11 years of his life as a fugitive in the southern parts of the country, mostly Vice City, where he performed several hits for the local Cartels. He returned to Tremont City in 1990 in dire need of money, and started afresh as a Tremont City crime figure.

Peter Nolan

The leader of the Williamsburg end of the Irish mob. Peter is an Irish migrant and IRA loyalist who, in association with mob boss Jimmy Bailey, had previously been supporting the IRA by sending them weapons through ships. However, after one such operation went downside up almost resulting in an arrest for all the prominent mobsters in the Irish mob, Jimmy decided to discontinue the arms operations. Peter, however, severed all ties with Bailey and started setting up his own crew for heists in order to raise money for the IRA. Early in the story, Louis will approach Peter for work in order to make his own ends meet.

Jimmy Bailey

The boss of the Irish mob in Tremont City. Jimmy has had an illustrious life of crime, having worked as a soldier for the Whelan mob in South Tremont during the Irish gang wars. However, Jimmy tried to take over the gang by killing the leader, Willie Whelan, with the help of Peter Nolan and then escaping Tremont until a time when the heat of the war cools down. Peter Nolan became the leader of the Whelan mob and aligned the gang with Cloverfield's Irish mob led by Harry Cavanagh. After the war, the Irish mob emerged as the most powerful gang in Tremont City and Jimmy returned to the city, starting to work for the Irish mob and eventually gaining a reputation in the gang. Jimmy also met Italian-Irish mobster an FIB informant Daniel Luzzato, through whom he too gained informant status within the FIB. In 1979, Harry was indicted for horse race fixing and sent to jail and Jimmy took over the gang. In his days as the leader of the Irish mob, Jimmy led his gang to a stronger position and in direct competition with the Italian mob, ratting out anyone who stood in his way to the FIB thus clearing his path. his FIB connection in the end proved to be quite useful as it kept him out of harm's way in the 1979 indictments and further in his criminal career.

More coming soon ;)

I was going to work on the map for Gray Valley, but ended up finishing this website. I still got to work on getting into that groove of GTA humor.

It looks better now than it did at 2 this morning when groggy me was making it.

That Web 2.0-ish look really fits Gray Valley's setting. :^:

I aim to make them resemble IV's websites, as website design didn't change that much from 2006 to 2008. It's fairly easy to make a design, but making ideas for the websites is slightly challenging due to a lot being already satirized by other installments. However, my goal is to poke fun mainly at Midwest culture and phenomenon.

If you think making ideas for the websites is kinda difficult, you can create the basic websites first. Saying "the basic websites", I'm thinking about the Gray Valley's version of the websites which Rockstar did for GTA IV and GTA V. For example, both IV and V had the vehicle dealership websites (like Auto Eroticar or Legendary Motorsport), and you can make something in resemblance to them (e.g. SpeedwayLuxuryCars.com or SurgeCountyTrucks.net).

I completely forgot about the dealership websites. Thanks for bringing them up. Surge County Trucks is a great idea, but now I have to decide if I want to bundle trucks with other farm equipment. It'd be something like "Surge County Farm Supply". I'm not sure who would willingly buy a lawnmower or combine, but hey, people around here do it.

Thanks for the ideas.

Just imagine how multiplayer sessions will look, if there would be a combine.

Homemade Dynamite

I was thinking about making a Vice City Expansion concept as sequel to my Liberty City Expansion. The only road block is that I'd have to create characters out of whole cloth since the HD Universe hasn't been to Vice City yet. However, I think an expansion in Vice City would have a lot of potential.

VC Expansion? Yeah, that would have lots of potential. Especially if there would be some nostalgic 1980s stuff, like a car based off of the Lamborghini Countach, pastel suits, at least two radio stations which would play 1980s music, and all that things.

Apparently there are a heap of people named John Burke. There are a couple of people named Raymond Carter, too. Huh. The more you know, right?

To begin with, I'd do a San Fierro or Las Venturas DLC before Vice City. People are pushing for Liberty City as we've already been there in the HD Era, so it would be interesting to return. However, San Fierro and Las Venturas would be more appropriate to return to because they are more closely related to Los Santos. I'd save Vice City for last.

If you are going to do Vice City, you already have some characters. The player could aid Jerry Kapowitz with his gun shop in Vice City, and in return get weapons. The Angels of Death are situated in Vice City, so you could easily involve their Vice chapter. Love Fist could make an appearance in order to give the player jobs to help them gain popularity once again. We know Al Di Napoli lives in Vice City, but his inclusion could be a bit problematic, considering the fact that his future is dependent on the player's actions in single player.

Homemade Dynamite

I'm getting around the issue of limited pictures by posting separate posts dedicated to each subject. Also, I got an update coming, one of which is safehouses. I need to find pictures of places in LC that would seem suitable to live.
