Yall should read Tyla's thread. Really.

The point of saying this?

I'm just saying, it's a crazy good thread and there's a lot of good work put into it. No need to get aggressive about it.

Oh, yea that's nice. Was it a team work? I mean did you and Tyla do all things together? Btw, theme song was nice, and I listened to it while reading the concept and really felt good.

Me and him worked together on it. Mostly just factchecking, seeing as I live in Florida and stuff like that

Actually, I've been thinking about my next concept a little (don't worry I'm still fully working on Gray Valley) and I decided to move the location to Atlanta, Georgia, instead of Liberty City. We've seen Liberty tried and done over and over, so I decided to do something new, just like Gray Valley.

Universetwisters can plug my thread as much as he likes. As technical consultant to VC Enterprises, he earned his credit being the only one (with the exception of Osric) to ever contact me with help or feedback despite the several times I posted about my idea.

Without his feedback, I'd never have been able to be remotely accurate with my location.

Anyhoo. I've been around everyone's concept in one fell swoop and if I've missed anyone, feel free to point it out.

I'm just going to post this here again so I can get more feedback. Which logo is the best? I'm kinda leaning towards the first.

The second one. Being that it's Grey Valley and all. Nice gradient too.

Atlanta is a fine location for your concept by the way, although I was totally hyped for an 80s Liberty City, we need more new locations.

I'm wondering about the possibility of more protagonists for GTA: The Dragon of the West, but I am unsure. The main focus is on Eddie Motomura's slow and steady descent into madness, but I've also considered having a second protagonist such as his wife or girlfriend, to sort of give an outside perspective on said psychological decay.

I've always liked the idea of dreams that occur when the player saves that would be similar to the psych sessions in GTAV. A second protagonist for the purpose of showing how much the first is decaying kind of demeans the protagonist role entirely - the second would feel like a bystander, similar to how Franklin felt like an outsider to Michael and Trevor's respective mid life crisis.

Everything else you mentioned in relation to this second protagonist sounds fantastic, but it would be wasted on a character whose purpose is to play victim to the main protagonist's mental decline.

Now coming to the painy truth (for me :D) is that people unfortunately avoid detailed missions, unlike back in the day... and that's probably why people avoid SOTEOF. I know that my missions are long like a dragon's tail, which puts people away from reading it. With SOTEOF, I tried to measure that: how can I express with writing, and I think this makes the missions more productive though. Maybe a bigger problem with SOTEOF is that it acts like a prequel to San Andreas, which doesn't appeal people too much because it's old school and is not something new. However, you know what f*ck it, though! I won't let my precious SOTEOF die for that. My IV DLC A Mexico Al Infierno died as well, I can't give another casualty. :W So no matter the situation is, SOTEOF will be up and running.

I think it's not that people just don't give a sh*t, it just takes time to read everything and soak all the details up. I've said before that SOTEOF reminds me very much of an episode of The Wire, because of the sheer amount of details and foreshadowing. An episode of The Wire runs for fifty minutes. People have to fit it into their schedules. Me personally, I tend to wait until you've posted two or three chapter's and then I'll zone into your radio stations and read them in bulk.

And take this as a compliment - who else has written such expansive stories that one has to make time in their schedule to read them? :D

You could consider writing a brief synopsis at the start of the mission under a spoiler tag if you're interesting in attracting people who don't wish to read so much writing.

So here's what I have for protagonist ideas for my Paris concept,

  1. A hitman who is not aligned with any specific Milieu or criminal organization. He doesn't speak much and is a heavy smoker. He is somewhat of a nod to Claude from III.
  2. An undercover police detective who has become addicted to Heroin and is extremely corrupt, abusing his powers to get away with crime.
  3. A Turkish drug smuggler. Still working on his character at the moment.

Are you doing just the one protagonist or multiples again?

I think that's a fine blend you have there. The hitman to execute the chain of events who doesn't need to say much, only act; the cop who uses this backdrop to entertain his own criminal dealings; the Turkish drug smuggler where it all originates.

What I like most is that none of them seem to be French bar the cop. It reflects well on how diverse the setting is.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Looks real solid so far. Any kind of blues should be upgraded by default from a maybe to a definitely. :p

Personally I think you should limit Flashback to the one station - give yourself maybe 30 tracks with 15 being pop and the rest new wave - and use this second planned station for some Retro Wave, 80s revival, whatever they call it. Something featuring Miami Nights 1984, Noir Deco, Lazerhawk, Kavinsky etc. I'd wear that station out.

[Creators Lounge Weekly]

You should run your poll again. I noticed when I went to vote earlier, I already listed under Casino Addict even though I'd never read it/voted for it. This is because the same people who voted for their favourite mobile phone (the iFruit and so on...) are listed as voting for their favourite episode, even though they haven't voted on it. That's why your last two options have no votes.

I think you should poll again and offer everyone the opportunity to read Ultimate's story from the very beginning in celebration of you releasing the story Hot Wheels later.

I loved the game Driver. Shame it went downhill when they took the guy out of the car and tried to make it GTA.

Actually all but the Turkish smuggler are French. I forgot to add that in.

Thanks. It really made me happy that you resembled SOTEOF to The Wire... it's one of my all-time favourite TV shows ever and it's surely a great inspiration on SOTEOF. Actually there are simple synopsis written on the mission table but it's too way short. Like this:

vot0VZz.png

That makes sense. Maybe I should give it a shot... write a brief synopsis that should cover all the simple details in the mission.

Also I will add "Pager" to the features of SOTEOF, acting as how we receive text message in IV.

I was thinking on my Carcer City project, I've decided on three protagonists but I'm not sure about one of them:

  • Dominick Tomasetto (based on Salvatore Testa): 30 years old, a young Soldato under the wings of Santino "Little Sonny" Scarella, who is playing for the control of Carcer mob. His only aim is avenge his father (actually adoptive father), Salvatore "The Rooster" Tomasetto's (based on Phil "The Chicken Man" Testa) death. He owns a run-down bar named "Swap Room" which gives him a weekly fee. He has developed a hard addiction for painkillers after his father's death.

  • Phillip "Phil" Domenti: 27 years old, a half Irish, half Sicilian little-time crook who was once selling methamphetamine off the streets for a local meth lord named Antonio "Tony" Bortarone (based on Raymond Martorano). After a murder Tony and his Polish brother-in-law George Vidic committed, which could bite them in the back, Phil agreed to take the fall and served six years of sentence in Darkwood Penitentiary.

  • Robin Casey Jr. : 34 years old, Canadian descent outlaw biker who grew up in a trashed trailer park in North Yankton. He battled in Vietnam which made him a bloodlusted killer. After the war, he and his brothers-in-arms joined Druids MC (based on Pagans MC), which was founded by the first generation Vietnam veterans. Now he's at the jail for a drug-related sentence.

My doubt is with Phil Domenti. The simple problem with him is that I can't figure out his own thing. Simply, Dominick will show us the beyond side of the mob, while Robin has his own things with his biker buddies, but Phil has nothing. Phil's general story is like he returns to Tony for work, later contacts him with Robin, who was his cellmate in prison. Tony decied to use Robin and his biker buddies to expand his drug distribution network, but at the same time, he ignores Phil and gives him sh*t. By Phil, I'm expecting to create an anti-hero but Phil not having his own thing could repeat the biggest mistake of GTA V's multiple protag system. That's why I am worrying about Phil. I've another idea of replacing Phil but it's not solid yet.

Would now be a good time to push for a seperate concept thread subforum? I mean hell, they're becoming pretty popular once again, for starters. That and it'd be good to weed out stuff like threads like these from stuff like "X vs Y" and stuff like that.

Yes really. You just said what I wanted to say. We've got lots of concepts now, and it's time to get out of fanboyism hell which is going on in this section.

Edited by PooyanCyrus

Well, yes and no. It sounds nice to get away from the endlessly reposted and/or pointless topics, but at the same time, we risk segregating ourselves, resulting fewer views, less feedback and less fresh blood. I don't know how big that risk is, but I don't think it's negligible.

A little side-project for once I'm complete with Carcer City and before I move onto my Paris concept.

Side project? It's off Carcer City? A DLC for CC or what? I just mean... could we get a little sneak peek?

It's a DLC for CC. Set in 1989, a year after the events of GTA: Carcer City. The plot focuses on the Wapona Trinity, the three German-American crime families in Wapona and will feature a single protagonist. The story will also set up events that eventually lead to Manhunt.

I'm doing some more work on "The Dragon of the West", I have most of the soundtrack codified, and as for vehicles, all vehicles from both GTA IV and GTA V are included as well as a lengthy list of weapons. I even have ideas for DLC packs, and I am working on the story and characters as we speak. I am not sure when the actual concept thread will be up, but I expect to get it going within the week.

Well, once I get around to finishing the map, it will be finished. I have a complete list of weapons complete and now I'm starting to work on radio stations. I have an 80's Pop station complete and I'm working on a country radio station. I might need some help later on with the stations.

Just, got bored of these days. I don't even have enough stuff to put in that damned "Weekly"

Could somebody bump my concept? I can't post new missions because it becomes a hilarious triple-post. Help me please.

Should be a long edition.

Of course, I'll be going around each in the morning with feedback and such. It's been a real rare evening.

It would be nice to see you all showing your love in the above threads before I do the rounds. Cheers.

My second concept. (i might finish GTA North Yankton but i'm currently not interested in it.)

http://gtaforums.com/topic/727963-grand-theft-auto-v-rush-concept-thread/

DLC for GTA V with Patrick McReary, Lamar Davis and...Huang Lee?!

Check it out.

Hey guys,

First off I am relatively new here as far as concept thread making goes. As far as forum experience goes however, I am not that new. My first account was Master of San Andreas. (Joined: July 7th 2012) and I later created this account, AceKingston. (Joined: May 13 2013). I later changed my name to Vercetti42 but y'all can just call me Ace. :D

I've created two (rather poor) concept threads prior to this before. One about gang wars and another being a DLC for VC which wasn't a DLC at all. Those were created with my first account so I was a real noob back then.

Now however, I am hugely interested in starting a GTA VI: Las Venturas concept thread. We've all got these nice little VIce concepts going on but why not LV? It's easy for Rockstar to recreate LV instead of VC but that is another discussion entirely.

I love Vegas and it's vibe. If you gave me a list of... say "10 things to do before you die", visiting Vegas would be on it.

I've got a bunch of ideas stored up. My only problem is the map. It isn't going to be 100% accurate. Of course Las Venturas will be there along with the desert, but this is my view of Vegas in the GTA universe, not real life. So it will be different but general locations will be present.

Keep a lookout for my new project guys. Feedback is much appreciated. :)

Hi Ace.

So I see you're a Scorsese man. Are we gonna get to see De Niro or Pesci in this? Maybe both??

Venturas done right could be great I think and I'm sure you're going to do it justice. Me? I'd like GTAVI in London, but 'ya know... kinda been there, done that. So I took it to a land where the climate is warm.

I wouldn't worry too much about the map. To be honest, I'd be kinda disappointed if you churned out the same map with the same locations. When I think of Vegas, I think of casinos. If you've got casinos, you can do no wrong. How you handle the areas outside of Vegas will be the details I'll be most interested in.

Here's hoping to see it soon. :^:

Venturas is like my 3rd favorite setting for the next GTA, in some respects it's even my favorite of all, for instance: I don't think there's a better setting for a GTA focused on empire building.

After I get around to looking at my US-Mex-border concept, Venturas will be my next project.

WOW! Thanks for reminding me of new episode of my own concept! Btw, this issue is a special one, the first colored issue :)

Going to be adding some new songs to some of the radio stations in my Carcer City thread and I was wondering what station would this song fit in?

Also, I'll be adding in more vehicles, any suggestions?

universetwisters

You should put in a 1986 Buick Century, or failing that, this:

vt2cSgD.png

After being in a bit of a "creative slump", I decided to come up with a different design for the map.

8C1HKEw.png

NOTE: THE SIZE IS NOT FINAL, ONLY RELATIVE TO SHOW THE LOCATION.

Anyways, I decided to battle the challenge of a land-locked map in a strange, but effective way. The areas outside the state are simply covered by a large mass of trees, except for the lake, of course. They are not accessible by foot, bike, or car. If one decides to fly over them, similar to the ocean in previous games, it will simply generate more and more of the landmass. If the player decides to land on the mass of trees, they will be able to walk on top of them, however, the ground cannot be seen due to the thick canopy of trees. I think it works out very well.

Edited by ssbawesome

Awesome job with the weekly, Pooyan.

Obsydian, your vehicle list looks solid. The only two glaring omissions I can point out are the Faction and the Greenwood. And that's at a stretch. You've got enough K-cars to stir Lee Iacocca's loins and I can't complain at the cop cars at all, even though that NYPD Taurus looks horrible.

I don't think you should add so many vehicles as much as brush up what you've got. There's a few samey samey cars that you could purge - the Electro is pretty much the same as both your standard Willard and the Oceanic. You could keep the nameplates and retool them to other cars.

Personally I'd like to see some huge 70s fullsize sedans added. Big ugly boat things, beaters perhaps, that would be ideal low-end gang transport. Here's a few examples:

Hornet

Maestro

Custom

Anqa

Teasle

Belleville

Some of them are stomach churning, but I think would compliment the setting perfectly.

As far as Every Breath You Take goes - I'd throw it onto the adult contemporary station.

SSB:

Maps aren't really my thing, your approach to land locking sounds pretty practical though. Glad to hear you're out of your slump.

Hi people! Great issue you got there, Pooyan.

I liked Vercetti42's (or Ace's) upcoming Las Venturas project, because he seems like a hardcore Scorsese fan. Having watched Casino a couple of days ago (finally watched it, fitting it into schedule was the matter) and I'm saying that "a real piece of work". Hopefully, we could see a Nicky Santoro type character... he was a loose cannon like almost every other character Pesci has portrayed, but I think Santoro was also thinking with his brains besides using violence as an effective weapon. I do like Goodfellas, directly Tommy DeVito as well, but Santoro did make it better on my eyes. Anyways, just to cut it short... I'd be glad to see some kind of Santoro.

Also I'm here to consult something, people. You probably know my SOTEOF, I've been writing brief summaries for parts on the advice of Tyla, for the people who don't like reading long stuff. It may sound stupid to write it here, but it bothers me much and I think I should see what you're saying. My concern is that brief summaries would destroy long written parts at all, although it may draw more people on the topic. To me, SOTEOF's soul is those long-written, deep contented parts. I think I can serve anything how I'd like with that way. Brief summaries may bring more people on the topic but at the same times people may stop reading the parts even if they've time to do so, and this would make the full parts totally unnecessary. I've been thinking about it too much, and I'd be appreciated if you tell me what are you all people thinking about it.

At the same time, more six parts to finish with Chapter I of SOTEOF. After that, I'll work mainly on the second chapter of SOTEOF (which seems to be going to be the longest chapter of the game) and work a bit on Carcer City project which will come after SOTEOF, and firstly focus on the protagonist problem I've mentioned before. Carcer City project won't be too long like SOTEOF, the way I see it. SOTEOF will have five chapters in total, meanwhile CC project seems to be gonna have two chapters. Also I'm planning to make a DLC for CC called "A Tale of the Forgotten City" which set four years after CC (in 1986) and focus on the story of an undercover FIB agent who is tasked with exposing a meth empire. That are the plans for what gonna do after taking a break at the end of the first chapter of SOTEOF.

Thanks everybody. I hope next issues will be great, too. This is first issue with this amount of likes and positive responses (hmm... I smell a mafia ran by Tyla!!! ).

@TheUnholy: So... You're gonna make a DLC for Obsydian's thread? Well, that's a new thing! Hope it turns to be a good piece of work, like soteof!

@ssbawesome: Wow! What have you planned to do with map? It will be nice if you're good in making detailed maps; The general idea is fine.

@Everybody: I'm focusing on Ultimate's gangs for a while. I've published first version of its gangs database, take a look, if it's worth it.
