As of now I'm in the middle of updating my Carcer City thread and was wondering if it's a good idea to have a single ending seeing as IV and V have multiple?

There's one way which nobody has gone. Having multiple scenarios for last mission(s), while they have the same result.

I mean, for example, the goal is reaching top of a mountain, while your gf is coming with you. There are three ways to get there. But in any of them, there's a danger which kills the gf and you should continue alone. Did you get it? I think it would be amazing.

In other words, GTAIV is a great example of how to do endings. GTAV? Not so much.

Carcer's got the three protagonists. How would you work a multiple ending?

One final, definite conclusion for each of them would be much better. Why complicate it.

ObsydianRaven

I'll take your word Tyla and go with the single ending.

In the meantime, here's a preview of Carcer City's antagonist; Randall James.

Randall James:

Randall.png

The ruthless, cruel and power hungry leader of the James Family Syndicate. At age 54, Randall is the oldest of the James brothers and is by far the worst. As a child he and his brothers lost their parents to a car accident when he was in his early-twenties and decided to take his brothers in. However when he lost his job he turned to petty theft and drug dealing, eventually starting his own gang that would evolve into the James Family Syndicate. Despite being the evil man he is, he often lays back in the shadows and gets others to do his dirty work. Often he uses fears to control them. However he is unaware within his organization, a plot to over throw him is in the works. He is the primary antagonist in Parts 1 and 2 of the story. He is voiced by Lance Henrikson.

Have you checked out the first post?

Now, with permission of dear blitz, the famous guide on making a concept thread is added.

First time I've checked this section in quite a long time and it's awesome to see some of the older members like Tyler still posting and creating concepts. Overall I'm just pleased to see people still enjoy making concepts and good job Pooyan on this topic (thanks for giving me credit too :^:)

Anyway, hope to see some cool concept threads soon :)

Up to the eleventh part of Chapter I of SOTEOF, the next chapter will include a full-blown train heist. Everything is done, but I think there should be a clear objective shown implying what the men are hitting the train for. First, I though of the train carrying crack ingredients, but that would be weird to rob a train for baking soda, right? Any suggestions for that? I would pick something belonged to the drug stuff, rather than something else... as a footnote.

I think I will work on a 1982's Philly-Detroit mixture based Carcer City, after State on the Edge of Forever. I assumed one of the protags as a biker, and "probably" running with a outlaw motorcycle club based on Pagans MC, because of Raymond Martorano's connections with it. Any name suggestions for a Pagans MC equivalent?

On the other hand, for another protagonist, I think a Salvatore Testa equivalent could work as the exact protag I want for this concept. Testa was a rising star who is know for his "stiff work" for the Philly Mafia. Actually I have thought of an Irish enforcer hitman working for Scarella Family (based on Scarfo Family), who once run with racist rednecks, tortured people and now does coke with some low-life junkies... I would run with him too... but after remembering Salvie Testa, I don't want to bypass his great potential for this concept.

You're right - with how easy it is to get the ingredients to Crack it would be off robbing a train for what you can get from your local supermarket.

I like the idea of a train heist. What could they target? Weapons would be the most obvious. The train could also be transporting money.

What about assets? Property? Maybe the train is carrying priceless paintings or artifacts (that were bought by drug dealers with drug money) and this heist requires Kane to fence the goods? The fence gets killed in retribution by said drug dealers and this puts their entire payday at jeopardy?

I love your Carcer City idea by the way. As much as I would love an Irish enforcer character, go with your Salvie Testa equivalent. It would be criminal to have Philly in that era and not have a protagonist who has to navigate his way through the Philly mafia.

Actually these are ice cool ideas. However, regardless of its price, I don't think Bulleye is not kind of the man that would go after a painting. A man of Bulleye's kind would presume it as... 'gay'. And an artifact related with drug stuff... I'd use it if I wouldn't figured out something similar like this. Actually that's a random encounter but during Chapter II, if Kane spares a drug dealer who went rough... there will be a random encounter of him during which he's revealed to be converted to Epsilonism and stopped doing drugs. That ex-drug dealer wants Kane help him while he retrives something for their 'Lord'. The two men go to the woods together, dig the ground and reveal an artifact which is later revealed to contain a payload of ecstasy.

The simple scheme for the train heist is like this: Kane, Gabe and Combo take a pickup and drive to the tool both on the railway. They eliminate the watcher on the booth and they block the road. Finally, the train comes but they're confused about the blocked road. A few drug dealers on the board comes out to check what's happening. Kane and Combo eliminate them and later make it inside the train, fight with the remaining dealers. Later, groups of Vagos and Dominican gangsters show up, Gabe wants help from Kane and Combo. Kane helps Gabe fight with the Vagos and Dominicans. After that, train suddenly works again with Combo inside it. Combo finds the merchandises (stuffed in wooden boxes) and throws it on Gabe who is on the case of the truck. This requires Kane drive carefully and make Gabe grab the majority of the boxes. The pursuance of the part is likely exactly the same as Breaking Bad, but I feel I needed to do that, because this part is the last tap... and a turning point for the story.

I don't know. Although it seems simple, I think the most logic choice is making the objective dirty drug money. I really appreciated your help, Tyla. That's been a great hand. BTW, I think the painting idea would make good for something in the next chapters of SOTEOF... it seems like an expandable plot.

I've been thinking about the Carcer project a lot since I've been stuck with SOTEOF, and I decided to go with Salvie, because it would make that protag a more curtain call. I've three protagonist in my mind: Salvie equivalent one who is after the pursuit of his father's revenge (of course, he's 'The Chicken Man') and a soldier in Scarella (Scarfo) faction. The other one is half Sicilian, half Irish who lives in a fantasy...he's not that exactly Vito Scaletta type of protagonist... this man still thinks his so-called friends are with him (he still think the bastard who got him locked up for six years is a friend). He's much more of an anti-hero except for his ambitious side. The last one is a Vietnam vet biker, a punk to the society that enjoys killing people, dealing drugs etc... he gets his brothers into deep sh*t for that. And recently fresh off the jail.

I appreciate your creativity about starting a new project taking place in Carcer, but, don't leave the SOTEOF for die. It's been a neat concept with well-written, detailed parts. So it deserves a nice continue to the end.

I still have pangs of conscience for my San Fierro concept. I dropped it and started working on Ultimate, and... That's why now I want to do an anniversary for it.

Also, I'm going to release first issue of "Creators' Lounge Weekly" tomorrow. Hope you'll like it.

Don't worry. The SOTEOF will be reaching an end, no matter what happens. The Carcer City is my next project. I assure you.

Also "Creators' Lounge Weekly"... it sounds interesting. I wonder what it will be about.

I've basically finished my story, but not the missions as there will be little missions thrown in now and then for necessity's sake. I've split my story up into little chapter and I've given a 1 to 5 scale on how long they are with 1 being short and 5 being relatively long, obviously.

  1. Small Time/In the Beginning (1)
  2. The Rise of an Empire (4)
  3. Outcast/Surge County (3)
  4. Reawakening/Midway/Raymond Carter (3)
  5. Ghosts of the Past/Carcer City (4)
  6. Reclaimed (2)
  7. Closure/The End (2)

So, to sum it up a bit, Chapter 1 deals with introducing Kyle James a bit and how he decides to go big. Chapter 2 shows him building up his empire. Chapter 3 shows Kyle being cast off into the countryside of Gray Valley and trying to find out to start over. Chapter 4 shows Kyle making his way into Midway and establishing himself up there, while Raymond Carter is introduced and establishes a relationship with Kyle. Chapter 5 shows uninvited guests from Raymond's past as they try to destroy him and Kyle and he venture off into Carcer City to look for answers. Chapter 6 shows Kyle returning to Speedway and taking back his empire with Raymond now on board. Chapter 7 shows Raymond and Kyle finally defeating the antagonists and each getting what they want, a legacy and closure. Tell me what you think. Length isn't that accurate, but an estimate for what to expect. I hope on making a long concept, so bear with me.

ObsydianRaven

So here's three concept ideas I might do once I'm done with Carcer City,

  • Late 60's Boston with a plot based on the Irish Mob War
  • 70's Paris
  • London Metro-Area in 1983

So, I'm thinking the US-Mex border would make a great setting, particularly for a multi-protagonist story. Centered around a place like the El Paso-Juarez area, with a pair of cities in the middle, only divided by a river and a fence/wall, and a couple of outlying towns and plenty of desert terrain. There's certainly enough crime in the area and enough stuff to satirize I reckon. Might even be a suitable place to try an alternative to island maps, instead just having infinite desert extending from the edges of the map.

While I have some vague ideas for a story and game features, I just haven't much of a clue about the culture/look of the area, so any suggestions for movies/shows to watch would be appreciated (and yes, I've seen No Country for Old Men, guess how I got the idea).

Just out of curiosity, what decade will this take place in?

I want the game to be 'sorta' dark and gritty, but I can't help myself creating missions that are sorta over-the-top. I want to know, is this too over the top or is it just right? Okay, the mission is you have to try and get this enemy out of town, but you can't scare him off by attacking his hideout because it's protected, so Kyle grabs a tow truck and attaches the tow to the guy's car while he's in it without him realizing it and then Kyle goes to a back road bridge and dangles him over a river until he agrees to leave town (he then calls his gang and tells them to pack up because they're done there). You then can either pull him back up or kill him. After that you take over his territories. Is this too over-the-top? I'd like some feedback.

TL;DR Is is too over-the-top to have a mission where you dangle a man inside his car with a tow truck over a river until he agrees to leave town?

Was thinking present day, particularly with the fence, but anything from 80's and upwards could work also.

I don't think it's over the top, but I don't see what stopping the guy from calling for help? Or just getting out of the car and/or shooting at you? Surely, he'd notice being towed at some point. And a realism nitpick, but tow-truck aren't really as easy to use as they are in GTA, so it'd be hard to hook someone up without them noticing.

Yeah, there's still some things that I need to iron out. I didn't mention it before, but you follow the guy to a bar, where you then have your female associate enter the bar and she fake hooks up with him and they enter his car, where she takes out a gun and points it at him, while Kyle hooks up the tow. She makes sure he doesn't call for backup. And after he calls his boys you can either pull him up, or you can tell her to shoot him. Thanks for the feedback, it was greatly appreciated.

Ssbawesome: That's not over-the-top, yet it's strange that he doesn't do anything. I somehow agree Severe.

Everyone: "Black Mob Story"s last mission has arrived. Take a look.

I had an idea for a GTA game set in the American Southwest, primarily focused on an Arizona-New Mexico hybrid area named Tierra Robada, with the main city being Dragon City (working title), based primarily off of Phoenix, Arizona and the surrounding metropolitan areas, with some elements borrowed from Alburquerque and Tuscon. Other areas would be the state of Sierra (Nevada, with the primary city there being Las Venturas) and Nuevo Paraiso (Northern Mexico, with Chuparosa returning from RDR, this time based on Ciduad Juarez and Nuevo Laredo, both affected heavily by the Drug War), however Dragon City and the state of Tierra Robada would be the central location. There would be a lot of desert and mountain landscapes and landmarks such as the Roosevelt Dam (Hoover Dam), Imperial Cliffs (Grand Canyon), the Wild West village of Coffin Rock and the nearby Mediocre Ranch (Tombstone and the O.K. Corral), West Elizabeth River (Colorado River), Rio Bravo (Rio Grande), more of Route 68 would be explored, and the main storyline would focus on the Mexican Drug Wars, with the cartels as antagonists.

That being said, I've always wanted to create a Yakuza-themed concept and while the real-life Yakuza in the United States is primarily based in Hawaii with a few minor offshoots in California, I decided to merge the two ideas together and focus on a small-time Yakuza gang based in the Southwest that is at war with the Mexican Cartels, while allied with traditional East Asian gangs back in San Fierro and Los Santos.

There would be only one main protagonist (though a second protagonist becomes playable after a certain point very late into the storyline), but it would be very good with multiple endings and choices akin to IV.

Some of the gangs I've come up with for the concept thread.....

Uchiha Group: A Yakuza gang based in the Southwestern United States with ties to Yakuza gangs in both the USA and Japan. Relatively small-time, but have assets in both Dragon City and Las Venturas, and have recently begun to deal in crystal meth, marijuana, MDMA, and designer drugs. This excursion into the drug trade has put them at war with the ultra-powerful cartels down in Mexico. And yes, I stole the name Uchiha from the Naruto anime. Names aside, the two have nothing in common.

Los Equis: The most powerful cartel in Mexico and arguably the entire planet, Los Equis were once a unit of the Mexican Army's special forces before going into the drug trade and becoming rogue agents. They are ultra-violent and well organized, Los Equis is based heavily off of Los Zetas.

Knights Hospitaller Cartel: A rival drug cartel opposed to Los Equis which is powerful but less ruthless towards civilians because of their strong Catholic tradition. The Knights Hospitaller Cartel are potential allies with the Uchiha Group as both are opposed to Los Equis, and as one can obviously tell, the Knights Hospitaller Cartel are based off the Knights Templar Cartel.

Marabunta Grande 13: Returning from GTA V, the MG-13 are a street gang with sets all over the Southwestern United States and parts of Mexico, they are close allies with Los Equis, much like MS-13's alliance with Los Zetas.

Huns MC: A biker gang consisting primarily of Hispanics and Caucasians that was formed in the early 1970's, the Huns MC are a bit of a wild card in the storyline. Based on the Mongols MC.

Gambetti Family: An Italian Mafia family based in Liberty City with assets in Las Venturas, who can be of assistance to the protagonist while in Las Venturas, in exchange for some favors of course.

Eastboro Baptist Church: A fanatical, hateful, and evil cult based in the Midwestern United States that holds a firm belief that God hates anything and everything (and we do mean anything and everything) and is infamous for picketing funerals and harassing innocent people, the EBC have established a compound in the desert that the main protagonist launches a raid on following a botched arms deal (a raid that takes place during a tense standoff between the cult and the FIB). Even white supremacist groups like the Angels of Death MC consider them extreme (and the Angels of Death have been known to launch counter-protests). Their leader is Frank Phillips, a lunatic cult leader. Three guesses as to who the Eastboro Baptist Church are based on, and the first two don't count.

As for their leader, Frank Philips is based on multiple figures, namely Westboro Baptist Church's former leader Fred Phelps, their current leader Steve Drain, as well as drawing heavy inspirations from cult leader David Koresh. And no, this is not an attack on all religion (I am religious myself, though I am not a Christian, but many of my close family members are), it's just that a group so over-the-top and ridiculous as the Westboro Baptist Church is make them so ripe for parody and satire in all honesty.

Ha, that could be good. Isn't the Westboro Baptist church in the Southeast, though? Either that or the midwest, I dunno. Either way, though, it looks promising!

I completed my weapon list, and now, before publishing first mission of "Hot Wheels" hot episode, I really need some help with radio stations. I have no idea of country and also, I'm interested in it. The same goes for Pop music, and some stations are left there to be completed. :( Could anybody help me?

P.S. I'm adding "Sterling Music Radio" playlist now! ;)

It will be set around late 1971/early 1972, and it's plot will heavily focus on the French Connection and Milieu (French equivalent to the Mafia).

So I'm loving the ideas I'm seeing in here lately. Severe with the US-Mex border setting, Osric with a hybrid of Arizona-New Mexico. More about these please!

Grand Theft Auto: Paris intrigues me as the French Connection films are favorites of mine. The 70s heroin scene is full of potential. Obvious question - how are you going to get around the language barrier? Or are you not?

And news from my end. Grand Theft Auto VI is fully fleshed out and ready to go. I'll be posting it as soon as graphics are arranged.

Possibly either subtitles or characters will speak English but with French accents.
