That would be an interesting twist too. I know that the idea is still prematurely developed, but IMO it's best to already imagine what kind of style you'd go for the story: same as EFLC with three different stories interwining at different points or same as GTA V where the three protagonists eventually stick together? From there you can expand the side characters and the narratives, sketching how the main characters first meet and what brought them together shall you make them an A-team.

Don't forget about ton of underused GTA V characters that you can elevate. Martin Madrazo, Stretch, and Wei Cheng are the usual mentions; but the supporting cast, internet users, and totally unseen faces deserve the attention too. Like I want to know how deep the heist crew members' backstory could've been if they were written better.

I think that no matter how impractical GTA V's heists turns out, they are the main appeal of that game. They're a homage to typical robbery scenes we often see in Hollywood action blockbusters. Asuming that you would go to that direction too, don't be afraid to go outside the realism boundary once in awhile. Don't make all heists a copy of Heat (jk, I trust you). While you don't look up at Michael Bay, be inspired by other semi-realistic classics like Thief, Ocean's Eleven, and The Italian Job.

I actually thought of many times for whether or not the characters would inevitably meet together or so, or at least in one pack, since my idea for one of the characters is them actually being more so an DOA (DEA) agent and lawman (albeit inspired by the True Crime games), trying to catch one of the protagonists in this story.

Oh, don't you worry, I actually have thought of making these “villains” who were mostly just one-dimensional douchebags, into actual and compelling villains, with Stretch being someone whose a genuine sociopath who only cares about street cred. Martin leading his own cartel-family business and pretty much being akin to Hector Salamanca, when being seen as someone who’s quite old and elderly, yet shouldn’t be messed with. Wei Cheng, I thought of him also being one that goes behind not only the backs of many, but to also his own Triad members, mainly due to his own arrogance and hunger for power. And Devin, oh boy, I have ideas for him…

I also do have ideas for the supporting cast, but the internet users and unseen faces I think would also be great to do, now that you’ve mentioned it. Of course, I have been thinking more with what would be characteristics added for the Heist Crew members, instead of just being blank & generic goons-

That is true, as admittedly, the Heists are pretty much the Heart of the game, and yes I did thought of it being homages to those robbery movies you see in Hollywood but just have more variety and difficulty tweaks in there. Those movies would be good influences to make it all the more interesting and intriguing, when shifting between the realm of realism and going outside of it, when doing these Heists lol

Devin is not the best GTA antagonist, some would even claim he's the worst, but IMO it's more of the overall storywriting's fault than his character. I believe you'd put a justice for him.

I once had a thought to make ending A/B canon in my continuity just so Devin could return in Light & Shadow. The way Rockstar had sculpted this douchebag as an annoying, out-of-touch, dirty, greedy, perverted billionaire made him single-handedly the most perfect mark specimen. He was lucky enough to never get conned by professional grifters. Looking back at this, I can feature his student Ray Navarro instead.

Yeah, I'd disagree that the unseen internet characters are unusable for concepts because they're not as "complete" as the wondorous LCPD database characters. Same for the other minor characters. I have a friend in GTAFanon Wiki who turns Kwak from a forgotten Korean taxi patron that Franklin met once to a young gangster. All we need is imagining their stories a little harder than usual.

My idea for Devin is something more alongside the lines of an actual psychopathic and eerie as hell billionaire. Almost kinda like Donald Love, but somehow even more psychotic and demented, as I literally thought to have irl influences like Jeffrey Epstein, make up for how insanely diabolical and evil he truly is.

Pretty much, it’s more like if you cross that of Gordon Gekko, mixed in with Patrick Bateman, to make for a truly monstrous and soulless socialite that wears only a former shell of a mask and a charismatic persona, as well as having nothing in his mind but an extreme form of Materiel Greed.

I do actually like the idea of his protege, Ray Navarro, being the antagonist for Light & Shadow though, as I feel like that would be very perfect for your story. Which, btw, I still need to read that soon since it looks very interesting lol

That is true (which btw, I do imagine the police database would return back here, since that’s one of the features that were lost from GTA 4), and I actually really like that idea for a character like Kwak and expanding more from the connection of one of the protagonists, really nice characterization and revamping! I’m hoping to achieve something like that when writing more of the obscure characters shown in the original game.

This is a minor concept for GTA story that I came up with, which uses characters, settings and other aspects from the 3D Universe, but takes place in different continuity/timeline. Though it is essentially a derivative of Netflix's Daredevil season 3 episode, where Wilson Fisk/Kingpin had five crime bosses apprehended, then brought to him and he offered them his protection from the authorities in exchange for 20% of their profits, I enjoyed conceiving this idea and thought of sharing it here.

Grand Theft Auto: Love and Taxes:

Liberty City, Fall 2001

The main characters are five gang leaders:

-Salvatore Leone, the paranoid don of the Leone Family. Once the most powerful mafia family in the city, the Leones now face uneasy times and are involved in a turf war against the Triads over the control of Portland Island's Chinatown district.

-Giorgio Forelli, a cross-dresser and the don of the now-crippled Forelli Family, now known as the Forelli Brothers, who are indebted to Salvatore's son, Joey.

-El Burro, adult film star, donkey porn magazine publisher and the leader of the Diablos gang, who are involved in pornography, underground street racing and occasional acts of vandalism.

-King Courtney, the treacherous, backstabbing leader of the Uptown Yardies, who are involved in drug dealing, street racing and are at conflict with the Diablos, who dissed Courtney's girlfriend, Queen Lizzy.

-Miguel, the leader of Colombian Cartel, the strongest gang in Liberty, who distribute drugs, are exceptionally well-armed and have ties with both Panlantic Construction Company, which serves as a legitimate front for Cartel's operations, and Francis International Airport, which the Cartel uses for their smuggling activities.

One night, each of the gang leaders were abducted by shady men in black suits and brought to an unknown location, presumably in Staunton Island, where they were met by Donald Love, the multi-billionaire owner of the Love Media conglomerate and real estate tycoon. Love, always calm, cool and collected, held all the cards and told the gang leaders that they are to pay a "tax". Each month, every individual gang leader will have to give over 20% of their profits to Donald and if they fail to comply, Love will have them arrested, killed or worse. The gang leaders, pressed into a corner, had no choice but to agree to Love's terms.

Now under the threat from Donald, the gang leaders have to contend with Love's monthly tax. Giorgio, in particular, is put in a unenviable position as his family is small, weak, owes money to Joey and, as such, may struggle, if not outright fail to pay the tax! In addition to Love's demands, the gangs also have their own problems to deal with, be it Leone's war with the Triads or the feud between Diablos and Yardies.

Among Donald's connections is the corrupt police office Ray Machowski, who is linked with the Yakuza, led by siblings Asuka and Kenji Kasen, who had been giving Yardies and Colombian Cartel trouble and are at odds with the Leones. Recently, Asuka and Kenji employed a silent hitman by the name of Claude and it is possible Donald, through his contact with Ray, may use Claude for his own endeavours, perhaps even send Claude to eliminate the gang leaders!

The Triads, Yakuza and Southside Hoods are the only gangs not to be bound to Donald Love.

GTA III with different twist but same spirit? The name Love and Taxes sounds sick too.

So we'd be playing as old man Salvatore and the other four bosses?

A bit of a late reply but... I could actually imagine Ray Navarro taking a similar role to the antagonist of 1973's The Sting, Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw), but in a modern context. Especially with the dynamic of main characters who are con artists (The Sting; Redford & Newman and Light & Shadow; Thomas, Maria, and Cesar).

Mhm, it could be seen in that way. And thanks for liking the name for my concept.

Yes, if this was a mod, then Salvatore and other four bosses would most likely be playable characters.

isn't it a bit of a stretch?. I think it's just me who's not that accustomed to old protagonist lol. Love's sudden extortion when Leone is severely crippled can be a reason why old Sal hits the street himself.

I'm inclined to believe that Sal would rather task his goons. But that's how I view his character in III and LCS. Your version of him can be someone totally different.

I plan to induct Ray as a possible "free roam" mark, an optional con after the main story completion (which admittedly has never been this close to be wrapped up!). Gonna make him a Devin wannabe but less wealthy and booksmart.

Fair points

One thing I'd also say about my concept is that the story could have multiple different paths that it could take and as such, there could be multiple endings. Perhaps the extorted gang leaders persevere in one path, but in another path they fail to pay Love's tax and are subsequently killed by Claude. Maybe in another path one of the "taxed" gangs survive, but the rest are wiped out. Maybe an unexpected factor emerges (like, say, Catalina appears in Liberty City, takes over the Colombian Cartel and kills Donald Love). The plot could go off into any direction and if it was a mod, maybe at some point the players, after playing as each of the bosses during the beginning, would have to choose one protagonist that they would then play as for the remainder of the story.

Also a prequel story for Niko in Yugoslavia, the twist is it’s not like a traditional GTA game. Plays kind of like a Naughty Dog game with its levels and storytelling.

I vividly remember a dream I had years ago where I played an IV dlc that was a prequel to Niko’s story set in Serbia. The map was about the size of Bohan and it was set in a village with a bunch of woodland surrounding it. The only car I remember you were able to drive was some Iveco Daily van. Niko’s commanding officer, general, idc wore a hat. This doesn’t sound significant at first but, with each mission, he adds one identical hat on top of the other. By the time the final mission comes around, he’s wearing 30 hats stacked atop one another. This immediately gives his position away to the enemy and he gets shot.

Guys, I will be brief.

I must admit that since a year ago, I begin to feel that my online life, which is completely separate from my real life and is kept secret from many, has psychologically held me back from progressing in the real world.

I also respectfully wish to delete all trace of my works. This is polarizing, but I need a hard push, a strong kick so I don't have any reason to go back. I don't want to look back at my past, get triggered to return and stuck in a cycle. I and my works will be a distant memory, but please keep the writing spirit high. Does all my hardworks go in vain? No, I learn things, I flesh out skills to be writer and designer in the real world.

I know you guys would be disappointed, but it is my decision to grow, an inevitable process of maturing. I'm tired of balancing these two separate lives, man.

Sorry for being so sudden but thank you.

Goodbye.

Very sorry to see you go, but we wish you nothing but luck. You've helped many on here when it came to writing, and inspired a lot of people to make the push to bring their ideas out and with that, the Forums will never forget you.

Best of luck with things.

Wise man wanted to share this:

"One last thing I almost forget.

If I have any wrongdoings, if I have done or said something that are offensive personally, then I apologize. I also apologize to you guys fellow writers if I haven't given enough substantial support and feedback, I admit I can't read all of your ideas.

Vice versa, I also have forgiven any mistakes from you guys.
