Im2akillerfish
Planned starting RDR in Hardcore mode, and thought, could V have some kind of hardcore mode? Changes would include: No health regeneration. All special Vehicles and Weapons needs to be purchased. They share their price with their Online counterparts. All special vehicles that are free in online have the price they had when they were glitched in online. The game is locked on Free Aim. Limited retries in Missions, and no Skipping. Similar to GTA Online, whenever a police officer sees the player driving a stolen vehicle, he/she will gain a wanted level. Special abilities would be either removed completitly, or edited so they are drained twice as fast. Stuff that needs to be planned more: Police. They are already hardcore-ish. Less health. It's already pretty easy to die from bullets. While it would force people into cover, ones frustration levels would increase. More accuracy on enemy gangs. Same reason as above. Money: As in RDR, money could be hard to get, but it shouldn't prevent players from purcasing properties, for example the infamous golf club. Post your ideas and discuss! Could this gamemode work? ViceCityStalker
I always believe there is space for a hardcore mode albeit if I prefer the game to be hardcore as the default. You can somewhat make the game hardcore by playing sp with free-aim no gps/waypoint markers. As for online the fact that the auto-lock is so piss easy it`s like shooting a fat girl in a rodeo with a bazooka,I mostly play online free-aim it makes the game more enjoyable for me. And yeah I seemed to go to hell and back there for a bit but f*ck yeah they should have a hardcore mode option that adjusts all things accordingly. TheTechPoTaToCHIP
People call it hardcore mode, I call it masochist mode. But I do think the base game is on the easy side. I never died once during my first play through.
Kampret
Add one more: GTA IV's driving. It's definitely harder, but it's more enjoyable, and overall better, unlike the dumbed-down crappy arcady sh*t that we got now. Billy Benedict
They need to add Bills, and maybe make you buy food. That would make Franklin's life pretty difficult at the beginning, and paying bills would make Michael's life f*cking suck. Id love that immersion. Post your ideas and discuss! Could this gamemode work? Please yes. Then i would play the story for a third time. All past GTA games (except the Stories and top-down ones) i played so much times over. SA and IV i replayed like 10 times and they both have 100 story missions. I only beat V twice, the only reason i even played it a second time was to get a different ending and more money from the heists. I really didn't enjoy V's story, but with this Hardcore game type, i would definitely play it again and maybe even enjoy it a little.
Guest
Free-aim is hardcore? Free-aim should be standard, you know like in every other game ever. It's 2014, free-aim shouldn't even be an option. Edited June 24, 2014 by Guest
WildBrick142
I think missions should be like previous GTA's. No retries, no checkpoints. If you fail then you have to go to the mission start again and will have to do the entire mission all the way from beginning, no matter how long it is. poland stronk
Hardcore mode: -no health regen -limited amount of weapons you can carry -death means death, no respawns at hospital -getting busted would mean 100k minimum bribe if arrested for serious crime -3 chances at mission if you die one more time - game over -special ability lasts shorter and is harder to regain -no autosave and saving only available in safe-houses -no checkpoints during missions -sixth wanted level reintroduced -repairing, tuning and buying vehicles is much more expensive -trevor's rage ability doesn't give him invincibility -franklin's driving reflexes doesn't improve driving only slows time -iron man mode - only save&exit if you die you won't be able to load previous save That's about it. It would be next Dark Souls if those would be applied. Edited June 24, 2014 by poland stronk

Trevorphilipjfry
I genuinely wouldn't mind if the overly realistic features, like the need to sleep and eat, or traffic violations and stuff were added in a separate hardcore mode of the game. Then everyone could get what they want

I thought of this, but realized that there are many missions which are extremingly long, and failing, for example The mission where one has to drive the packer to paleto bay and failing to take down one more cop would cause huge frustration. But consireding that this is Hardcore mode, it is a good option. Edited June 24, 2014 by Im2akillerfish

At music stores do you say they should only sell music you like? Do you even try to understand that options are a good thing? I mean, we're talking about a video game, not a military fitness test. Edit: Stick fuel in there too so people stop asking for it in the normal mode. So hardcore they have almost as much accuracy as you do. This would be a perfect GTA for me if it weren't for those guys. I can only imagine how bad it would be without regenerating health. Everyone in his house treats him like shxt, then you gotta pay like a heap of money for these assholes, sounds great! Make it like Fallout, where we have to eat, drink and sleep. Haters gonna hate. Sorry guys, but these are terrible ideas. San Andreas had it perfect where you just have to eat, but I wouldn't want a game where you have to also drink/sleep/pay bills/etc. This is called realism, and a game with all that realism isn't even fun. I like to play games that are fun, if I wanted realism, I wouldn't even play video games.

chrisscorsese88
But we are discussing about a hardcore mode for GTA V, not realism for GTA V. A hardcore mode without adding "realism" could include non-regenerating health, enemies doing more damage, you dishing out less damage to enemies (with the exception of a headshot), and no mini-map (which is already an option). There is no need to add the things I pointed out in my post earlier about having to eat/pay bills, those don't add difficulty, all they would do is annoy people and it would actually make me play the game a lot less. Having the former (no health regeneration, enemies do more damage) would make me play the game a lot more.

Im2akillerfish
Let me clear this out. Hardcore mode in this case means tweaking the current game mechanics, so they make the game more difficult. No new mechanics would be added. Go check Info about RDR hardcore mode to see what I mean. I'll add payouts to the Planned section. The player should still be able to buy Golf club.
