What Is The Goal of GTAO?

I think the goal is according to each player. My goal is to amass as much goodies as possible, that way I don't worry too much if I decide to go on killing spree in free mode. Also, I try to get as much GTA$ as possible in case future DLC requires large amounts.

Has GTAO become a game where all we do is repeat a cycle? Here's what I thought about a few nights ago. I questioned myself "what is the goal of GTAO?" Is the goal to have fun? Is the goal to make money? Is the goal to play until your heart is content? Or is it all of the following combined?

Lol this is the deal with any MMO:

There is no end game. There is no point. You play until it fails to entertain you. MMO creators have the challenge of consistently providing content to keep players engaged. It's a never ending process. Lol.

It relaxes me and makes my exsitance better. For that reason I only play the game in a relaxing way, no getting into fights for no reason and no getting griefed.

gtao is a cycle, just like life is for 99.8% of the people in the world.

the sense of progress comes to a halt the moment you unlock martin. from there on you just do mission and grind for money to buy all the new, expensive stuff, fancy cars, etc.

pretty much the goal in gtao is to get money to buy stuff, making sure you have money for the next update, thats it.

The goal is to have fun.

Rockstar goal is to keep you playing which they have done exceptionally well

Why the f*ck do we need a "goal"? I'm still playing because I still enjoy messing around in the GTAO world. I make my own fun, make my own goals. I hate most of the MMO bullsh*t R* added to the game. The boring as f*ck missions, the boring as f*ck death matches, the boring as f*ck races, the bullsh*t moneysink economy. But you can still do allot of what makes a open world sandbox so great (you just have to grind 6 hours for ever hour of fun).

Judging by all the comments, I have discovered not only the meaning to the game but also life itself.

It's one word containing six letters.

HEISTS

The Goals of GTA Online.

1. Take part in a scubadave tank shift.

2. Obtain the Karin Snipe and store it

3. Find Domislive and kill him. Lots. Preferably while recording......

4. Find out 'wtf is a gerald?'

5. Buy Cash Cards.

Attained 4 out of 5, but I absolutely refuse to buy a Cash Card!!

GTAO heists have burned a permanent hole in the hearts and minds of GTA players...

Your grandchildren will be told bedtime stories of it:

"Once upon a time, there was a place called rockstar that promised us somethin special....."

To do alot of sh*t that you can't so irl and just be free & independent in what you want to do. Theres no real goal but its up to you to make goals such as collecting cars, making gwap, racing, and etc. The main point of online is to having fun and having full control of your character(s) in a virtual world thats based off of reality and shares alot of elements of it too. Obviously another goal is to make it from bottom and become as successful as possible doing anything for the currency.

Same as Lil Wayne and his posse's setup. To take the money from dumb kids parents.

You killed Domislive? Well done, i haven't come across him yet.

Also, please enlighten us to 'wtf is a gerald?'

And i haven't bought cash cards.

But these are the goals I must strive to meet (except 5)

The goal is what you make it.

For some it might be to get rich and cake themselves in luxury apartments and expensive cars

For others it might be win as many races as possible

For others it might be to create as much mayhem as possible in free roam, classic GTA style.

Personally, I don't think GTA:O has enough free-roam activities to give us meaningful goals and have us playing for years, no real assets to acquire and invest in other than f*cking ugly adders, no homes or banks to burgle/rob, no trading with other players, no shares on the stock market, no drugs to deal, no casinos/gambling, if there were actually fun ways to make money this game would live up to its potential, at the moment all it offers is f*ck-abouts and depressing grinding.

I just like going crazy in freeroam mostly...so epic freeroam battles are my personal goal in this game...

It's the circle of life – my GTAO goal is avoiding people like u. =)

Does this mean that random people behavior form your own goal in an online-game hmmm?

Never thought about "the one big goal" in GTAO... more likely session or day goals hmm...

The goal is fun. And if you're not having any, you should definitely move on.

Certainly that's a very interesting thought process, but GTA Online was only made for the specific purpose of being an add-on to GTA V really....

No it wasn't It was made as more on an MMO type thing in mind, which will go on for years and be continually developed.

One would assume they had next-gen in mind when they decided that path.

Buy as many cash cards as possible. Duh

If it wasn't blatantly obvious already :)

The goal is to buy cash cards and keep the Housers in whiskey and Bolivian party powder for a very long time.

People aren't wrong for wanting at least some semblance of a storyline. "The events" of GTA Online were supposed to take place before the SP story but what does it matter if there are no "events" to speak of?

When I go online I always have a set of goals

1. Kill as many players as possible while avoiding getting killed as much as possible

2. Make more money than I am going to spend on ammo while I'm playing

3. Do any contact missions that i haven't completed yet if they pop up

4. Try to get to the HPV first or kill whoever does and take it to put an ignition bomb on it so I can get that car bomber award. Once this is done I will pick a new award to target and work on that.

5. Invite any super low levels to great payout missions on hard and help them earn money while showing them strategy they can use when they unlock them for themselves. (I've made more friends this way than I can count, although then I ended up with a friends list full of level 30s and below)
