NPC bounty oddity

I borrowed my brother's Xbox+GTAV whilst he's on holiday so I could use it alongside mine to do some race win trading for car upgrade unlocks, and at the same time run some missions to make him some GTA$, as well as buy him a 10 car garage and fill it with stolen gang cars for him to sell when he gets the chance to play.

 

In the process of hunting for gang cars to steal I was running both Xboxes online in an invite only session, found one on my character and drove it to my brother's character nearby so I could drive it into his new garage, but literally 2 seconds after my brother's character got in the driving seat it got slapped with a $7000 bounty despite the fact that my character was the one that stole it!

 

So it appears R* programmed the NPC to put the bounty on whoever's driving the car X seconds after it's stolen, not who actually stole it.

That's actually pretty weird since whenever I steal a car I mostly get the bounty

Yes you can actually avoid NPC bountys if you get in get out and wait before you drive off. I almost never get any bountys now when I steal to sell cars and have 10 seconds to spare.

something more weird was the other day my bro stole my dubsta 2 and somehow got a npc bounty!

Yes you can actually avoid NPC bountys if you get in get out and wait before you drive off. I almost never get any bountys now when I steal to sell cars and have 10 seconds to spare.

 

What I do is walk up and point a weapon at the NPC driver, they often times reverse a few feet, get out and run away leaving the vehicle free for the taking. Well, either that or they just run you over.
