Can anyone explain MIC settings

Hello people. Hopefully this wont get moved since atleast its not a "Heist Thread"

I just got a bluetooth MIC so I can yell back at all the 12 year olds cursing at me (j/k)

Anyway Im finding settings everywhere and hope someone can help me out.

First of all I want to know if I can talk into the mic but still hear other players through the tv and not the mic cuz I just dont wanna hear 12 year olds screaming directly into my earpiece.

1-In the PS3 settings under audio device settings it lists an input device and output device but the ps3 will not allow me to have the input as "do not use" and the output as my bluetooth device. If i do select "do not use as an input device it automattically sets the output to system default device and I dont know what that is .

2-Now if you go to settings in the ingame start menu there are 2 settings...

1-voice through speakers (on/off) whos voice? mine or the players and what speakers???

2-output (tv/speakers/headset) changing these dont seem to do anything???? again what speakers??

3-Also from the select menu..theres a chat option. is this for both input AND output???

Thanks

In PS3 settings

Set input as the bluetooth mic

Set output as 'system default device' <-- this means the TV

Done.

Now everyone has the pleasure of hearing their voices echo back at them through your mic.

ok i thought it meant the opposite. input being other players and output being me .

What about the ingame settings?

this... most annoying thing... if you hear them through the tv it will echo thru the chat headphones.

Nah, it's your input and output, not other people's.

Now I hope you have the most annoying R&B or Hip-Hop to play really loud while you're online, or you're doing it wrong. Oh and don't forget to eat really f*cking crunchy food too, and mouth breathe a lot.

I think the other settings are for people playing with big gaming headsets. Haven't messed around with them.

A good point was raised. now that your using a headset make sure your tv is not too loud that the tv audio doesn't loop back into the mic.

As annoying as that is, it can be useful. I've known a mugger was after me because I heard Lamar call the only other guy in the session a malicious mother f*cker.

because setting it at default would make the sound come from the TV... isn't that what you wanted?

You forgot barking dogs, people yelling in background, and a baby crying.

You just need to make sure you TV isn't loud enough for the mic to pick it up. If it's loud then everyone else will hear it through your mic, and that's annoying as hell. The mic should really only pick up loud stuff, like your voice since it's so close.

Don't forget the Ebonics, broken English or lack of that usually follows along with it.

Dogs are constantly barking here too. Soon as it starts I mute my mic though. I try to be courteous to others because I hate when other people let it happen.

Unless he has a high quality headset

No. Sound comes out of the TV, goes into mic, and comes out of my headset.

What you need to avoid being annoying (and thus muted by me) is to have a headset with a mic where the sound comes out of the earphones and directly into your ears, insulated from the mic and your mouth, which is on the outside. Preferably in a room devoid of screaming babies and barking dogs.

Buying a cheap mic is useless, as everyone's just going to mute you anyway, so why bother?
